The Mist Episode Four “Pequod” – Spider Gods For Everyone!

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Previously on ‘The Mist’ – Eve lied, Adrian lied and Mia lied. Gus pushed his way to the top. Jay came clean. I’m still having nightmares about moths thanks to episode 3.

“A giant moth killed him.”

Yeah – we’re still talking about that horrid moth death scene from last week’s episode. (I’m still not fully over it, to be honest). Kevin and Co are in the car trying to get the hell away from murder moths. Mia’s trying but failing to hot wire the car, somethings not right with the vehicle. Kevin suggests the nearby garage, which on a normal day might be a good idea, doesn’t sit well with the group. They discuss the living nature of ‘The Mist’ and Kevin seems to be fitting into his role as the group leader.

“We need to distract them.”

We open on the mall with a woman running to the door trying to escape. She’s stopped by Jay and Gus. The tension and panic in the mall are reaching a fever pitch so they decide to distract people with board games and football (I hope Cluedo isn’t in the list of games!). Guy points out to Jay that everyone will respect him as he’s a star football player. After receiving shade from the girlfriend of the gamer’s from last week, Jay ends up feeling moody so throws the ball. Alex catches it and runs away.

Back in the Church and father Romanov discusses his renewed faith with a fellow parishioner (who’s got a very dodgy look about him. I’m calling it – he’ll be evil before the season is out.) Romanov decides that this is all a test from God and he’s got to save their souls. Nathalie puts a spanner in the works – she announces that she’s not on good terms with God so she’s praying to someone else. She’s not sure who, but she’s putting her faith in the moths’ from last week (shudder).

Finding a safe place after running through the mist, Kevin and Co stumble into the garage. Adrian points out that someone is driving up to them. After a little tension with guns pointed at each other, the man introduces himself as Clay. He knows Kevin through the school. He’s actually looking for his son. He show’s the group a picture and they know him – and that he’s actually dead. Mia’s mightily pissed off with Kevin for lying to the new guy – Kevin reminds her that he’ll do ANYTHING to find his wife and daughter.

“The law is people trying to control human nature.”

In the church again and Nathalie is on the stairs reading. She seems quite happy until Connor turns up. He’s refreshingly honest with her when she asks if everyone think’s that she’s crazy. He tells her that he’s struggling, he’s got no gun and now he’s got no prisoners either. Nathalie tells him that law is pretty pointless (talk about rubbing salt in the wounds). Romanov interrupts the two with the news that there is some food available.

“I’m happy he’s not here”

In the Mist Mall everyone is eating. (Not sure what meal though as time seems to be a bit unimportant.) Alex and a little girl decide to visit the book shop for Kevin’s child friendly book about an owl. As soon as she’s gone, the mothers in the group break out the wine and have a kiki. Eve confesses she blames Kevin for Alex rape (which we knew). She’s also really happy he’s not here – it’s easier for her without him (Bit harsh).

Father Romanov is leading everyone in a group prayer, trying to save their souls. Nathalie on the other hand has been reading a priest’s diary from 1856, in the book it mentions the “Black Spring”. This is something that’s been mentioned a few times now so I hope they actually build on it. Nathalie believes it’s nature fighting back – Romanov looks at her like she’s grown an extra head. A creepy spider crosses the church, Nathalie believes it’s a sign from nature so jar’s it up. There’s some tense music playing so you know that spider is going to be important.

“They just stopped working.”

Clay and Kevin apologise for pulling guns on each other over some food. During the conversation, Clay explains that suddenly ALL the cars stopped working. At the same time. Any new ones anyway. His car’s working due to being an older model with no computer’s in it. It was his son’s car and he loved it – so he’s going to use it to find him. Kevin ask’s for a lift to the mall, but Clay declines. He doesn’t have enough petrol, never one to back down, Kevin suggest’s they sleep on it.

Mist In The Mall

Back to Mist Mall for one of the more tense parts of the episode! The gamers from last week decide to use a harpoon gun to bring the bodies back into the mall. Shocking absolutely NOBODY this plan fails miserably. Of them gets killed when he ventures into the mist, the other guy runs away. (Totally what I would do.) This allows the mist to enter the mall! I REPEAT – THE MIST IS IN THE MALL!

As the gamer runs to safety, he locks the door to the bookshop behind him – trapping Alex and Lyla with the mist! The tension here is high as the parents are trapped on the other side of the door unable to see anything through the dense mist. Lyla screams as a physical shape takes form in front of her – and proceeds to EAT HER! They killed a bloody kid character! Alex is surely next as it appears in front of her. She manages to stand up to it and escape uneaten! (PHEW!)

Nathalie and her pet spider are causing concern in the church. Romanov feels that she’s losing the plot, after discussing it with Connor he’s shocked to find that Nathalie isn’t alone. Connor, who has been in the mist, feels like it knows him and the darkness that is inside him. He gets a dead fly and goes over to Nathalie to feed her pet.

“He’s dead!”

Kevin comes clean to Clay after a tense argument with Mia. He’s unable to do the unthinkable and kill Clay despite pointing a gun at him. Clay tries to shoot Kevin but ends up getting Bryan in the leg. It’s all a bit tense!

“Anyone who endangers the group….”

Dealing with the aftermath of the Mist-Monster, the group have decided to kick out Vic The Gamer. He’s crying and apologising, but it was stated in the rules. If you bring danger to the mall – you’re out! After a vote (because democracy) it’s decided to kick him to the kerb. Jay seems to be the only one who disapproves.

Spider-gate reached its peak after Nathalie is seen chatting away to her new friend. Father Romanov and his friend from earlier decide that they must save Nathalie’s soul. (She seems quite content to me if I’m being honest.) Romanov finds it offensive that Nathalie is worshipping false gods, so takes it upon himself to kill Spider-God. It’s actually a brilliantly done scene, you can see it from both sides, but I hate spiders so I’m with the priest. After collecting the body into a jar Natalie gives the priest the mother of dirty looks. This isn’t over!

“Fuck. You.”

After Vic is unceremoniously kicked into the mist, he curses them and wanders off (until we see a body – I’m saying he’s not dead.) We go back to the church where Romanov is trying to justify killing an old woman’s pet spider. Connor isn’t convinced and tells the priest as much – he’s on side with Nathalie. Who has her faith rewarded – the dead spider has filled her jar with hundreds of baby spiders. (At this point I would have burned the church to the ground and took my chances in the mist.)

“I lied.”

During a farewell ceremony for Lyla a distraught Alex comes clean to her mom about lying. She didn’t fight the monster off, it just chose to ignore her. Naturally this upsets Shelly, Lyla’s mother who packs her stuff and goes back to the main mall group. She makes sure to tell them all that Alex is a filthy liar. I can see the groundwork for next week’s episode already!

“He’s out there.”

Clay is leaving the garage and feels a bit bad about shooting poor Bryan. (Who hasn’t really had a whole lot to say this week.) He offers the car up to Kevin and co to take Bryan to the hospital before going out into the mist. Loading the car up Kevin and Co continue their adventure by driving off into the mist.

Verdict

SO MUCH BETTER! This week was a much better episode than the previous three. The tension in this episode was brilliantly built with Lyla’s death and the aftermath. I’m also slowly starting to care about some of the characters. Frances Conroy shone this week as Nathalie with her spiders and you can see Kevin’s struggle. I can honestly say I’m looking forward to next week’s episode!

What did you think about the spiders? Were you surprised about the death of Lyla? Are you even still watching this? Let us know in the comments below.

‘Wizard & Glass’ – Updates On “The Dark Tower” TV series

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Fans of Stephen Kings ‘The Dark Tower‘ series are counting the days until the movie is released. The movie, which will star Idris Elba and Mathew McConaughey won’t be the only time viewers get to visit Mid-World however.

The Dark Tower

It’s been confirmed that the fourth book in the series, “Wizard and Glass” is getting the television treatment. MRC and Sony Pictures, which is releasing the film, have committed not just to a pilot but a full run of between 10 and 13 episodes. The Dark Tower show will begin shooting in 2017 with plans to premiere it in 2018. Which should coincide with the movie becoming available to stream.

Ka Is A Wheel.

While news on the series has been sparse there are small tidbits that have been confirmed. The show will be a much more faithful adaptation of the source material. Although “Wizard & Glass” is the fourth book in “The Dark Tower” series, it actually serves as a prequel. The majority of the book focuses on a 15-year-old Roland on his first outing as a newly trained gunslinger. It will focus on his friendship with his first “ka-tet” and his first love.

“In the movie, Roland is suffering tremendous loss. The most concrete, personal, existential heartbreak a character can have,” Goldsman says. “If the movie chronicles his final reach toward hope again, the TV show is the loss of that hope.”

Idris Elba and Tom Taylor who play’s Jake Chambers will both have small roles in the show as well. Aside from these two, there are no other casting confirmations. It is unknown if Mathew McConaughey will star in the show.

To celebrate King’s 69th birthday MRC presented him with the above image. What you’re looking at is a map of the show’s main setting Mejis. It would be in the town of Hambry that the majority of the action will take place, but it’s exciting to see this level of detail for the show. If “Wizard & Glass” runs for a second season, they won’t be short of material either. Marvel Comics had a very successful run with King approved stories featuring the history of a young Roland following on from the events in the “Wizard & Glass.”

Sadly, there’s not an official air date yet. However, as the tweet above teases, it looks like the first episode has been written. Although this hasn’t been confirmed by Goldman, it’s still exciting news.

Are you excited about the idea of another Stephen King adaptation or are we in King overload? Are you excited to see Rhea of Coos on screen? Let us know in the comments below.

The New ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer Is Out And It Will Blow You Away

Monkeys Fighting Robots

With Blade Runner 2049 set to hit theaters in October, Ryan Gosling announced via twitter that a new trailer was due to be released Monday morning on Good Morning America. Well, the trailer is out and it’s awesome. Check it out!

My initial reaction is just how visually stunning this film appears to be. Much like the original film, it appears director Denis Villeneuve is utilizing quite a vast color palette in both the shot selection in the production design as well. Love the shots of Harrison Ford appearing to be what looks like a wasteland. Warner Brothers even have the film placed in a week where it should have little competition. One can’t help but predict big results for Blade Runner 2049.

Blade Runner 2049

What was your favorite part of the trailer? Are you as excited about this film’s release?

Blade Runner 2049

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
From executive producer, Ridley Scott and director Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana De Armas, MacKenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Carla Juri, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.

Hello, Johnny And Other Thoughts On Twin Peaks Part 10

Monkeys Fighting Robots

In its tenth week, Twin Peaks attempts to bring its various mysteries closer together while keeping the biggest questions of all obscure in the mist. Like Jerry Horne, we’re still lost in the forest trying to puzzle it together while hopped up on the good stuff. But, as always, the show offers us a few footholds to use.

The Case

Richard Horne is a bad man. After dealing with Miriam (Sarah Jean Long), his daily chores lead him to his grandmother’s house. Sylvia, already dealing with Johnny’s recent spill, is none too happy to see him. But Richard doesn’t care. He steals money from her purse and her safe. He also takes some collectable spoons for bad measure. After the home invasion, Sylvia calls on Ben for some sort of financial relief. His response is to ask Beverly out to dinner. Sylvia always puts Ben on edge, but no, Ben. Don’t give into temptation. That never ends well.

Oh, and the reason for Richard’s rage-spree? Miriam sent a little to the Sheriff’s department naming Richard as the man who hit the boy a few days back. Luckily Deputy Chad Broxford — officially the worst man in town — intercepted the letter before Lucy could see it. Granted, Lucy seems to be on to him anyway. Hell, even the mailman thought Chad looked suspicious. He’s so the worst.

Over in Vegas, the Mitchum brothers lean that Ike the Spike was arrested. They also learn from Anthony that Dougie was the Mr. Jackpots who rolled their casino a week or so back. They’re none to thrilled. But considering the way it played out — and Candie’s (Amy Shiels) amazing performance — it’s unclear if they actually bought Anthony’s story. He’ll have to kill Dougie himself if the Mitchums don’t buy it. But little do they know they’re all pawns of Bad Cooper.

The Updates

Becky and Steven’s relationship has hit a snag. I suppose they’ve run out of money again as he says they can’t afford the trailer they rent from Carl. He, meanwhile, considers their relationship — and the accompanying fights — to be a nightmare. It’s hard not to feel for Amanda Seyfried, whose eyes invite compassion and understanding. But Becky took so much from Shelly and the RR that it’s tough to empathize with her. Hopefully, her husband won’t be too much like Leo going forward.

Oh, and hey, Johnny’s still alive. Sylvia even got him a teddy bear to talk with over breakfast. Of course, it doesn’t clear up the Richard mystery. He’s presumably Audrey’s son, but that leaves a bigger mystery lurking on the edge of the frame.

Meanwhile, it seems Nadine turned her silent drape runners into a thriving business. She watches Dr. Jacoby’s program from her shop, “Run Silent, Run Drapes.” And though she was smart enough to turn her wacky invention into a career, she’s still under Jacoby’s spell. Does she even remember that he used to be her shrink?

And probably making her last appearance is Catherine Coulson as Margaret Lanternman, the Log Lady. She tells Hawk that the Truman brothers are “True Men” and that he should trust in those close to him. I guess that means even she can see Chad is bad news. He really is the worst.

Oh, but she also told him that Laura is the one. That has to be significant, right?

The Questions

  1. When will Cooper wake up? Even sex with Janey-E couldn’t bring his mind into focus. Will it take seeing a familiar face?
  2. What is Candie’s deal? She couldn’t handle swatting Rodeny Mitchum (Robert Knepper), but seemed so disconnected from reality the next day. The Mitchums are disinclined to fire her. Why?
  3. Where is Audrey? We’ve asked this before, but is she still in the coma?
  4. Is Audrey Richard’s mother? Did Ben or Sylvia try to raise him? That would explain why he’s such a terrible person.
  5. Is Diane in league with Bad Coop? Or does she assume he’s the real deal?
  6. Why did Gordon have that vision of Laura when Albert knocked on his door?
  7. Where’s Big Ed? Are he and Nadine still together?

Not about Judy

Albert’s found love with the Buckhorn coroner and it’s sweet as hell. When a guy as caustic as Albert Rosenfield can find love, it brings a little hope to the rest of us.

Beyond that, he brought the text log from Diane’s phone to Gordon. So now they know Diane is in contact with Bad Coop, even if his nature is still a mystery to them. They also know that she told Bad Coop about Hastings. Meanwhile, Tammy brought in the most interesting piece of evidence yet: a photo of Bad Coop at the New York penthouse from Part 1. But who is he talking to? Is that the mysterious billionaire? Is it Jeffries himself?

Hello, Johnny!

Let’s talk about Candie for a moment. Shiels offers an amazing performance as the key member of the Mitchums’ entourage. When we saw them last, their disaffected stares in the face of brutality seems a typical Twin Peaks quirk. But now, even the Mitchums see Candie’s slowness to respond as an issue. In fact, they are the first characters ever to notice the drawn out pauses in LynchLand. But is this only because it was Candie? Her hours-long tearfest for swatting Rodeny would suggest some sort of expected reprisal, but the brothers seem so reticent to hurt her. I’d love to know why.

I’d also love to see Audrey, but the show keeps her as much as mystery as Annie Blackburn.

Meanwhile, for those trying to keep up with the timeline, it seems at least two weeks have gone by since Cooper became Dougie. Long enough for Janey-E to forgive her husbands transgressions with Jade. Of course, it must help that Cooper is in much better shape than Dougie could ever hope to be.

All of which leaves us with an episode I hesitate to call “perfunctory,” and yet no better word comes to mind. While some of the mysteries are coming together, the great mystery of Twin Peaks still looms large. Do you agree? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments below.

‘Wish Upon’ Review: The Only Horror In This Film Is Having To Sit Through It

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Wish Upon is an odd combination of a horrible narrative, underdeveloped characters, poor pacing, and campy death scenes that will elicit more groans than scares from the audience.

Summary

Any movie reviewer with a conscience should wish that audiences not be subjected to this type of gross attempt at making a horror film. However, if someone in the family is insistent on seeing it, we might as well let everyone know what they are in for. This narrative (and I use the term story loosely) centers around 17-year-old Clare (Joey King) and how her mother’s suicide has turned into a socially repressed individual who is subject to ridicule from her peers. She lives in a dilapidated two story home with junk collection father played by a very weathered looking Ryan Phillippe. Riddled with guilt, her father is always looking for presents to give his daughter and happens to stumble upon an old Chinese music box shaped like an octagon. Of course, Clare just happens to know just enough Mandarin to be able to see that it’s a box which gives seven wishes. She immediately finds this to be ridiculous but still keeps the box closed.

After a particularly exasperating day full of her being teased by her classmates, she comes home and collapses on the bed. She then lets emotions get the best of her and proceeds to wish that Darcie (the meanest girl in school) would “just go rot”. Not only was she shocked that her wish worked, but was taken aback by news that a close friend of her families died at the same time. She chalks it up to some horrid coincidence and moves forward. We then are subjected the long repetitive cycle of grand wishes, less than believable deaths, and melodramatic regret throughout this painful 90-minute film. Audiences are supposed to be invested in whether Clare will ever get rid of the music box but in reality, are just waiting for the film to reach its whimpering conclusion.

Wish Upon

What Worked

The audience seems to enjoy when Clare was hit by a car towards the end of the movie because at least we knew that the end was near.

What Didn’t Work

Why would you eliminate the most interesting elements of the W.W. Jacobs story ‘The Monkey Paw’? Your whole narrative is based on a story that has been used countless times in horror films, and the first decision was to dumb it down? If director John Leonetti wanted to retell that story once more, he should have made sure it was an interesting one to tell.

Ryan Phillippe can’t be this uninteresting on screen. He is supposed to come off as this man who is in mourning and uses his junk collecting as a coping mechanism. In the film, he looks weathered, older, and certainly happy that someone made the error in judgment to cast him.

What was with the use of a bright color palette for 85% of the film? The storyline might have been riddled with issues, but at the very least they could have created the atmosphere which most would expect in this type of film.

The melodramatic moments in the film caused the story to drag on. What was only a 90-minute film, seemed like an eternity.

Screenwriter Barbara Marshall appears to create characters with the sole purpose of being killed off. While I understand that this is supposed to be a horror film, but the audience should have some investment in who these people are.

Overall

Broadgreen Pictures made Wish Upon with an extremely lean budget of around $12 million. Even with how bad a film the final product is, there is still an audience of people who will still pay to see this drivel. It is insulting to lump a movie like this in the same genre as Get Out with there being such a contrast in the overall quality of each release. My advice is that if anyone in your family wants to watch a good horror film, go rent Get Out and avoid movies that will leave you bewildered.

The Announcement Of The Thirteenth Doctor Elicits Quite A Response

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Doctor Who fans everywhere waited with bated breath as the Wimbledon men’s final concluded and BBC announced the identity of who would be taking over the role of the good Doctor. Jodie Whittaker, who gained fame for her tremendous work in the show Broadchurch was announced as the 13th Doctor and social media went into overdrive. The majority of it was extremely positive. Check out Alex Kingston (best known for playing River Song) and her reaction on stage at a local comic-con.

Check out the reaction of Pearl Mackie (the actress who will more than likely be playing her companion on the show)

https://twitter.com/Pearlie_mack/status/886609685213851650

Fans, however, seemed to be somewhat conflicted about the decision. Many of them took to social media to voice their displeasure. Check out some of their posts

Once again it looks like we have a case of those same people who were up in arms about the Ghostbusters reboot voicing their displeasure because God forbid a woman takes over any role a man used to occupy. Obviously, a man is only capable of playing an alien time traveler who fights weird looking aliens with a screwdriver and travels in a phone booth. How dare we assume that any lady has the talent to pull that off? What’s sad is that I only posted a few of the negative reactions to the casting announcement and could have posted much more. Fans have to understand that traditions evolve and that times change. The type of hate that Paul Feig and Leslie Jones got for simply just being in a movie last year was disgusting. Let’s just keep calm and give this a chance. If after the Christmas special, Ms. Whittaker doesn’t live up to the fans’ expectations then they’ll end up replacing her based on the quality of her work. It’s been done before.

How Bumblebee Can Save The Transformers Franchise

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Transformers: The Last Knight has come and gone. But soon we’re promised to get a Bumblebee solo movie which will kick start a Transformers cinematic universe and act as a harbinger for the death of cinema. I kid, I kid. Seriously though, Bumblebee is coming in 2018, and the franchise needs a makeover. So, what can the Bumblebee movie do to pull the franchise out of an endless cycle of explosions, terrible jokes, and nonsensical storytelling?

PRACTICAL CGI

If the Transformers movies are nothing else, they are delicious eye-candy and spectacular in their use of computer generated imagery. However, even some diehard fans say it’s a little too much and too often. Another point of argument from filmgoers are the muddy transformation effects. One of the fun things about Transformers back in the day was how simple a car turned into a robot. Bring that back and marry it with the incredible CG. Keep it clean and quick.

BOND, CHARACTER BOND

For the people working on the Bumblebee movie, please watch movies like Iron Giant and Wall-E. Learn from these films. The reason they work is not because of a cool robot (though, that does not hurt) but because the robot has a soul and in the case of Iron Giant the robot bonds with a human. Create this relationship with Bumblebee and one or more characters. Make us care about this and then put it through hell.

KEEP IT FAST & FURIOUS

If you’ve read this far, you might be thinking “tone down the CG?” “Add character bonding?” Don’t make Transformers boring! It’s the opposite, the ideas here are to streamline the Bumblebee movie, so it retains the frenetic action but adds a little more story that doesn’t become a convoluted mess.

My Pitch For The Bumblebee Movie

ACT ONE

It’s several years after the events in Transformers 5. Man and machine are working in harmony, and the world is on its way to a progressive society. New technologies make it possible to end hunger and even colonize Mars. However, a rash of violence by an extremist group is causing concern.

The film centers around AGENT, a gruff investigator who works alongside the machines, specifically, Bumblebee. The EXTREMISTS are trying to get their hands on a weapon that would give them incredible power. AGENT and Bumblebee are tasked with recovering SCIENTIST, one of the creators of the weapon.

When Act 1 ends we meet SCIENTIST and learn that weapon is a nano-virus that could kill all the machines. The EXTREMISTS appear, and they are lead by Noonan Cain, a cyborg who dreams of a world with a new master life-form. Bumblebee, SCIENTIST, and AGENT escape, but it sets off …

ACT TWO

An epic chase sequence the likes not seen since Mad Max: Fury Road. It turns out, under Cain’s control are three Transformers, Barricade, Drift and Hot Rod. The high-tempo sequence runs us through the ruins of cities and ends when the group escapes into the Seattle Underground.

During this sequence we see the new transformation process and learn that Bumblebee’s occupants remain inside when he’s in robot form, making the Transformers into Mech-like machines ala Pacific Rim. Humans can control certain weapon systems to allow Bumblebee’s other systems to work at optimal levels.

While underground, Bumblebee reveals to SCIENTIST that AGENT lost his family in the events of Transformers 5 while helping the robot. AGENT and Bumblebee have been together ever since. SCIENTIST then reveals that the virus and Cain were working under the order of a shadow government. The virus was meant to be a “precaution, ” but it was Cain’s plan to steal it for himself. SCIENTIST destroys the data, but there is a backup in a facility in the Rocky Mountains.

On the road to the Rockies, the EXTREMISTS attack and another epic chase sequence begins. Bumblebee and the group are cornered at the Hoover Dam when AGENT has a terrible idea. They destroy the damn and race against the rushing water that takes out the EXTREMISTS. AGENT and the group survive and reach the facility.

ACT THREE

In Act 3, AGENT and SCIENTIST head down into the facility while Bumblebee keeps watch. As it turns out, Cain is already in the lab with the virus in hand. Outside, Bumblebee is ambushed by the three Transformers.

The final act bounces between Bumblebee’s battle against his own and the fight for the virus. Cain is killed by AGENT who manages to inject the virus into him, causing his machine parts to fail and release his control over the Transformers. Barricade and Drift retreat, but the third, Hot Rod, is too corrupted and continues to fight. Scientists destroys all information regarding the virus.

Bumblebee and Hot Rod ruthlessly fight back and forth. AGENT and SCIENTIST are trying to deliver the last of the virus that will kill Hot Rod. Bumblebee orders AGENT to stop, hoping he can save his friend Hot Rod, but after Hot Rod kills SCIENTIST (which gives her character redemption for the guilt of creating the virus in the first place), Bumblebee is forced to kill Hot Rod.

Bumblebee and AGENT ride off into the sunset.

In an after credits scene, Barricade and Drift are seen walking together when their eyes change color, signifying they’re back under the control of Cain.

CUT TO:

In the wreckage of the storage facility, Cain’s cyborg eye flickers on and off … the on.

‘IT’ Director Andres Muschietti Talks The Film’s Hard “R”-Rating

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Andy Muschietti’s ‘IT’ Is Going Places The Mini-Series Never Did

Are audiences ready for another dose of Pennywise, The Dancing Clown? There are only a few months to prepare as the hype for Andy Muschietti’s IT grows. Director Andres Muschietti (Mama) spoke with French magazine Mad Movies about holding nothing back with his version of Stephen King’s novel IT. “This is an R rated movie. I’m very happy about that because it allows us to go into very adult themes,” said Muschietti.

He continued with this:

“Each ‘loser’ knows a situation of despair, on top of the terror of It and the fear of heights. Beverly’s case is, of course, the worst, because it’s about sexual abuse on a minor. But each kid is neglected one way or the other. Bill is like a ghost in his own home: nobody sees him because his parents can’t get over Georgie’s death. Of course, Ben is bullied at school. We don’t know much about Richie’s personality because he’s the big mouth of the group. But we suppose he’s also neglected at home, and he’s the clown of the band because he needs attention. Long story short, there are all sorts of difficult situations, and we had the chance to tell them in a movie that faces directly those conflicts. In particular, the families of the young actors were very open-minded, so we could tell the about subjects that are normally very touchy.”

Andres Muschietti further went on to talk about this film always being an R-rating. He said this to Mad Movies, “From our very first discussion with the people from New Line, it was understood that the movie was gonna be rated ‘R.’ Of course, it was already crazy that they started a story revolving around the death of children. But if you aimed for a PG-13 movie, you had nothing at the end…”

It sounds like the relatively infamous moments the 1990 mini-series left out will find a place in this film. With PG-13 being profitable for studios but a sore subject for horror fans, Andres Muschietti’s bold choice is a gamble. Hopefully, the R-rating pays off as this is the first part of a two-part series.

Will you see IT? What do you think of the R-rating? Let me know in the comments below.

“The Losers Club” is played by Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Javier Botet will play The Leper, and Nicholas Hamilton plays Henry Bowers. Bill Skarsgard is playing Pennywise.

The film will be in theaters September 8, 2017.

Rejoice !!! A New ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer is Coming Soon

Monkeys Fighting Robots

For those who aren’t looking forward to starting another work week, Ryan Gosling has given us all something to look forward to. Check out what he just posted on Twitter in regards to Blade Runner 2049.

It would seem that the reason why Ryan Gosling is appearing on Good Morning America tomorrow is to debut a brand new trailer for Blade Runner 2049. Even though all he posted was a teaser, it certainly seems we are reaching some clarity as to the direction this highly anticipated sequel is headed. No one should be shocked that they are waiting to debut this trailer till next week because right now the headlines are dominated by all that’s occurring at D23. Make sure to keep it locked on Monkeys Fighting Robots as we will post the trailer as soon as it’s released.

Blade Runner 2049

Are you excited for this new trailer? How do you feel about Gosling stepping into Harrison Ford’s role? I’m just not sure that diving back into this source material is an excellent idea. The original film is so fantastic that I’m not sure it can be topped. Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista is set to hit theaters October 6th.

Mark Ruffalo was asked if a solo Hulk film is still a possibility, and he responded with a pretty passionate answer.

“I want to make one thing perfectly clear today. A stand-alone Hulk movie will never happen because Universal has the rights to the stand-alone Hulk movie and, for some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel. And clearly they don’t like money.”
