Austin Powers Halloween masks may be hard to come by right now.
The masks have sold out at several sites, including Amazon and eBay. And it’s all thanks to a scene from Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver.
In the scene, Baby (Ansel Elgort) is getting ready to help a trio of robbers before a heist. One of the robbers pulls out the masks they are going to use for the job. Instead of Michael Myers masks—you know, from the Halloween movies—he pulls out Austin Powers masks, the character played by actor Mike Myers.
The innocent mix-up has caused Austin Powers masks to sell like crazy.
The news, it seems, doesn’t surprise Wright.
“I’m very proud. I feel like through my career, I have given people some very easy Halloween costumers, like Shaun in Shaun of the Dead,” Wright told The Hollywood Reporter. “I even mentioned to Warner Bros. [which released Austin Powers under New Line Cinema] that they may ship a lot of masks at Halloween, and I think that’s exactly what’s happened.”
Baby Driver became a summer blockbuster, earning $108 million domestically.
Netflix’s Mudbound has been collecting rave reviews for months now, as it made its way around the festival circuit. This second trailer will show you why.
The intense examination of the American south in the middle of the 20th century has an all-star cast and what looks to be an impressive scope. See for yourself:
Masterful filmmaker Dee Rees vividly captures the 1940s American South in the film Mudbound, based on the international bestselling novel by Hillary Jordan. The film, an adaptation co-written by Virgil Williams and Rees, is the timeless and timely story of two families – one black, one white – bound together by the farmland of the Mississippi Delta during the Jim Crow era.
A powerful ensemble cast including Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Mitchell, Jason Clarke, Jonathan Banks, Mary J. Blige and Rob Morgan portray the richly nuanced relationships between the McAllans and the Jacksons.
Rees commands a team of top craftspeople including a remarkable roster of female department heads – including cinematographer Rachel Morrison, editor Mako Kamitsuna, composer Tamar-kali, Oscar® nominee sound engineer Pud Cusack and makeup department head Angie Wells – to bring the past into the present and shine a light on a chapter of American history rarely seen on screen before.
Mudbound has gotten enough buzz to get a small theatrical release, a nice way for these Netflix films to work around the archaic Academy rules and vie for Oscar nominations. The cast is incredible, and the subject matter feels depressingly timely. It will debut on Netflix November 17.

Back in April, Sanchez explained the concept of the fourth story arc.
“In the previous stories, there’s always a mention of a god type figure and a riddle that all of the inhabitants of Heaven’s Fence have to sort of abide by. We learn in Good Apollo #1 that godlike figure is actually this writer who is experiencing this heartbreak that is making him lose his way and in his absence, the characters are starting to develop the idea of free will, that maybe the prophecies that they’re supposed to abide by are malleable,” said Sanchez.

Netflix is launching a Stranger Things aftershow, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Beyond Stranger Things debuts on Oct. 27, the same day season two drops.
Hosted by Jim Rash, the seven-episode aftershow will feature an analysis of each episode and discussions with the cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and David Harbor. Other guests on the aftershow include show creators Ross and Matt Duffer.
Netflix is suggesting that viewers wait to watch Beyond Stranger Things until after they’ve finished the new season, as there could be spoilers.
Netflix is following a growing trend of aftershows for must-see TV. HBO tried its hand with After the Thrones. AMC found success with Talking Dead. Interestingly, the team behind the popular The Walking Dead aftershow is producing Beyond Stranger Things.
To get an idea of what Beyond Stranger Things will be like, Netflix has released a sneak peek video. Watch it below.
In what is a rare occurrence for a comic book, DC Comics’ much-anticipated DCU intersecting Watchmen sequel Doomsday Clock is getting an actual movie theater trailer.
DC Entertainment has announced plans for its recent Doomsday Clock trailer to air alongside movie trailers and other commercials in select theaters nationwide. The Burbank-based company is doing this as part of a co-op retailer promotion with National CineMedia (NCM), which has aired similar campaigns for ‘New 52’ and ‘Rebirth’
You don’t have to wait though. You can check out the trailer below.
What do you guys think? I can’t remember the last time a comic got so much cross-media promotion. I think it’s fun and great for the medium of comics. Comment and discuss below.
Doomsday Clock #1 goes on sale three minutes to midnight on November 21.
In between his stints as Kylo Ren, Adam Driver has joined some interesting smaller projects. Now, he will hop on board Spike Lee’s Black Klansman, what sounds like a wild true-life drama.
According to the report at Deadline, Driver will play a Jewish police officer named Flip “who is the best of the Colorado Springs police force. He’s already had many years of experience and is a quick study. He is known on the force for being anti-social, and he’s a perfectionist, critical of others’ mistakes, but brave and dedicated.”
Black Klansman is being produced by Jordan Peele and Jason Blum, and is one of the most stark cases of the truth being stranger than fiction. Here’s a refresher:
Black Klansman tells the story of Ron Stallworth, a detective in Colorado Springs, Colo., who in 1978 answered an ad in the local newspaper seeking new Klan members. He not only gained membership, but rose through the ranks to become the head of the local chapter. Stallworth, who is black, was able to gather all sorts of intelligence by pretending to be a white supremacist on the phone or via other forms of correspondence but sent a white fellow officer in his place for any in-person meetings. During his undercover work, Stallworth managed to sabotage several cross-burnings and other activities of the notorious hate group.
John David Washington, the son of Denzel, will play the lead role in Black Klansman. We don’t have a release date yet, so stay tuned for the latest.
While Suicide Squad failed to deliver what critics and many fans were expecting, the film made enough money to warrant a sequel, and it looks like Suicide Squad 2 could be with us sooner rather than later. According to a new listing from My Entertainment World, the Suicide Squad sequel will begin production in March 2018, with new director Gavin O’Connor.
We still don’t have a confirmed cast for the sequel, although it would be safe to assume that Margot Robbie will return as Harley Quinn alongside Will Smith as Deadshot. I would also put Viola Davis in the return box, as Amanda Waller is an integral player in the franchise. As for the rest of the original cast, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will return for the sequel.
If the report is true and Suicide Squad is looking for a March start date, you can expect more casting news to emerge in the next few months.
If you love October and everything that comes with it, scary movies, haunted houses, costumes, candy, etc., then you know the worst things you can hear are, “I hate scary movies” or “I don’t like being scared.” Fear is a primal emotion. It’s exhilarating to be frightened beyond measure. Fear makes us do silly things. Look at how it affects decisions people make in scary movies. Look at how it affects us in the sense where we’re screaming at the screen, “You should have done …” or “Don’t go in there!”. That is what it’s about. Fear makes us feel alive. It should be fun to be scared. Enjoy this month because it’s the last one we get without mentions of the holiday season, considering that Christmas basically starts in November now, thus overshadowing Thanksgiving, which should be a crime.
The 1980s was a golden decade for horror. Some of the greatest, most original movies came out over that span. Introduce yourself to the art that is horror as we have put together 10 of our favorite 80s cult favorites that not only have a fair share of scares and gore but also a bit of comedy as well.
Premise: After a tragic accident in which a man loses his young son, he conjures a towering and vengeful demon called ‘Pumpkinhead’ to destroy the group of unsuspecting teenagers responsible. He soon comes to regret his actions, however, and attempts to stop it, but he may already be too late.
Why we love it: This is a classically overlooked movie with great on-camera practical monster effects. The demon itself is brilliant and immensely striking and the film, overall, is dark and gothic, but still with a wide array of color and excitement. Great creature flick!
Premise: A comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two California Valley Girls fighting against cannibal zombies and a sinister group of scientists.
Why we love it: The movie follows 80s teens to their favorite hangout spot, the mall. Somehow, locking themselves inside a projection booth at the multiplex helps them live through a massive extinction level event. There’s a shopping spree, battle with zombies and psycho scientists. Lots to love here.
Premise: Nerdish college freshmen Jason and Steve pledge a fraternity, but instead find themselves taking on alien brain parasites, which turn their hosts into zombies.
Why we love it: The film follows the basic ‘trying-to-get-the-girl’ storyline that we have grown to love from 80s movies, but with a splash of both aliens and zombies, and that of a returned axe murderer. It is an all-around fun movie.
Premise: A research team finds a mysterious cylinder in a deserted church. Little do they know that, if opened, it could mean the end of the world.
Why we love it: This movie is not only brought to you by horror legend John Carpenter but also features another legend in Donald Pleasence, whom you might recall from the Halloween series. Overall, this movie is a little bit Evil Dead with some Exorcist all mashed together.
Premise: Angela Baker, a traumatized and shy young girl, is sent to summer camp with her cousin. After arriving, anyone with sinister or less than honorable intentions gets their comeuppance.
Why we love it: This movie has a little bit of everything, but is definitely in close correlation to Friday the 13th. The film manages to hold a creepy atmosphere with truly original and immensely gruesome killings. Plus, this movie has one of the more shocking climaxes in slasher flick history.
Premise: An ordinary teenage boy discovers his family is part of a gruesome orgy cult for the socially elite.
Why we love it: This movie attacks the heart of 1980s yuppie culture, which is a victory in itself, but should you have the stomach for it, this film has one of the most hilarious, vile and repulsive scenes in horror history. Check it out and see for yourself!
Premise: Ten teenagers are invited to Angela’s party at an abandoned funeral parlor on Halloween night. When an evil force awakens, demonic spirits keep them from leaving and turn their gathering into a living Hell.
Why we love it: This movie has it all. If you took The Amityville Horror, Evil Dead and sprinkled in a few demons, blended it up, you’d have Night of the Demons. One can appreciate the use of actual makeup and studio props, devoid of CGI.
Premise: A boy inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town.
Why we love it: This is a classic trap movie for parents of the 80s. Seeing the cute and fuzzy ‘Gizmo’ made them think it was a kid-friendly movie, but in fact, was not. It is an immensely original creature movie and, after seeing it a few times, one should learn all the rules in keeping a Mogwai as a pet!
Premise: The lone survivor of an onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack.
Why we love it: Evil Dead II is pretty much a remake of Evil Dead, but still manages to set itself apart because it is funnier and scarier. It has a refreshing amount of comedy to go along with some legit jump scares. Plus, Bruce Campbell stars in it. No brainer there. Watch it!
Premise: A dedicated student at a medical college and his girlfriend become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue when an odd new student arrives on campus.
Why we love it: This movie has aged so well. It has a great blend of comedy and gore, while its main character is similar to that of Dr. Frankenstein. This is just a fun movie, but be warned – don’t eat while watching it.
