The companies will coordinate with a TWE estate, ‘The Last Wine Company’, to develop both ‘Blood Red Blend’ and a ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, each with a label that will respond to the Living Wine Labels app, which is an augmented reality visualizer that brings bottles to life. Pointing your phone, while using the app, at the labels, prompts characters to either fight off ‘walkers‘ in the aisle or see ‘walkers’ come up right out of the label.
“We know how enthusiastic fans of The Walking Dead can be and we expect they will embrace the Living Wine Labels app and wines with real excitement,” Seth Hynes, who is leading the introduction of the wines, said. “Finding new and meaningful ways to connect with consumers is something we care very much about.”
The Living Wine Labels app is not a new venture. In fact, it has been working with another TWE brand in 19 Crimes for a while now and, come February, 2018, will also augment various labels with Chateau St. Jean, Beringer Bros. and Gentleman’s Collection wines.
Though this isn’t the first ‘TWD’-inspired wine. Just a few months ago, AMC and Lot 18 came together to launch a three-wine set, named ‘Daryl Dixon’, ‘Negan’ and ‘Rick Grimes’.
Each bottle via The Last Wine Co. will be available at some point in January of 2018 and each will retail for $18.99, while the Lot 18 wines are available now for $22 each. Whatever route you go, any of these bottles would go great with this ’walker’ wine holder.
With millions of fans heavily involved on social media of ‘TWD’ comics and AMC’s The Walking Dead are highly involved in everything as their loyalty knows no bounds. You will want to scoop these up if you’re lucky enough to find them, for sure. TWD on AMC returns on February 25.
Download the Living Wine Labels app now (iOS / Android) to ‘Watch the Dead Rise’.
While you’re here, check out this article from Vine Pair, where wine professionals talk about the must-grab-and-run-with bottle of wine they’d want during the ‘walker’ apocalypse.

DC Comics announced today it will deeply explore some of the previously overlooked DCU history in a new prestige mini-series, The Other History of The DC Universe, from Oscar-winning filmmaker John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Let It Fall). Ridley also currently writes comics for DC (Vertigo’s The American Way: Those Above and Below).
According to DC Comics, “the story will analyze iconic DC moments and chart sociopolitical gains through the perspectives of DC Super Heroes who come from traditionally disenfranchised groups, including John Stewart, Extraño, Vixen, Supergirl, Katana and Rene Montoya among others. At its core, the series focuses on the lives of those behind the costumes, and their endeavors to overcome real-world issues.”
Writer John Ridley stated:
I could not be more excited by the opportunity to excavate the canon of the DC Universe through a vast array of characters who’ve earned their seat at the table, I’m very impressed with DC’s commitment to making their history as reverent and urgent as it is engaging and entertaining for all its many fans.
Ridley is scheduled to discuss the book this weekend during D.C.’s The Many Shades of Heroism: DC Heroes Through the African-American Lens panel. You can live stream the panel on Saturday, January 13, at 11 a.m. ET on the DC YouTube channel and follow on social media with #dcindc2018.
The Other History of The DC Universe is scheduled to hit comic shops in the winter of 2018.

You Were Never Really Here hits Sundance next week, but Lynne Ramsay’s dark thriller has been making the festival rounds for months now and it’s picked up a boulder of great buzz.
This full-lentgth trailer shows us some more violence, more tone, but still manages to keep the meat of the story under wraps. And pay attention to the score at work here from Jonny Greenwood, because it’s wonderfully unnerving:
A traumatized veteran, unafraid of violence, tracks down missing girls for a living. When a job spins out of control, Joe’s nightmares overtake him as a conspiracy is uncovered leading to what may be his death trip or his awakening.
There will definitely be some brutal moments, given that Phoenix’s killer character’s favorite method of pain appears to be a hammer. This is also Lynne Ramsay’s long-awaited (too long gee hmm wonder why funding was so tough to secure gee) follow-up to 2011’s wonderful tense We Need to Talk About Kevin starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly in one of the more interesting movie married couples in recent memory. She appears to be striking the same chords, albeit in a more direct way and in a more violent story.
You Were Never Really Here also stars Ekaterina Samsonov and the great Alessandro Nivola. It will hit theaters in the U.S. on April 6. In related news, I know where I now know where I will be April 6.

Brian Michael Bendis’ first work for DC Comics has been revealed; the celebrated comic scribe will penning a backup story in Action Comics #1000, with art by superstar penciler and DC co-publisher Jim Lee. The news comes courtesy of ComicBook.com, which exclusively broke the news earlier today.
Action Comics #1000 is also the first time a mainstream American comic book has reached such a number. The issue will be “an over-sized extravaganza” with the main story written by current Action Comics writer (and Superman expert/killer/resurrector) Dan Jurgens. Along with the Bendis/Lee story, the rest of the book will be a celebration of 80 years of Superman stories by various creators.
What do you think? Are you excited to see the Bendis/Lee team-up? What else would you like to see Bendis write? Comment and discuss below. And as always stay tuned to Monkeys Fighting Robots for more information on Bendis’ new home at DC Comics!
The Commuter strikes this unmistakeable tone of familiarity. We have our resident everyman played of course by Liam Neeson who just happens to be an ex-cop who finds himself wrapped up with some dangerous individuals (sound familiar?). He meets up with a mysterious woman played by Vera Farmiga who offers him one hundred thousand dollars to locate a passenger who we find out is the FBI’s witness to a pretty gruesome act (gee … where have I heard this before). Of course, when he refuses to go along with the act, his family is threatened (wait .. they took his family .. shocking). The only question that I have after sitting through this ridiculousness is why would anyone ever want to travel with Liam Neeson? Furthermore, why would anyone consider sitting through the same movie you’ve probably seen Neeson in already?
Bryon Willinger, Philip de Blasi and Ryan Engle attempt to strike a different tone in this release but end falling into the same tropes found in his previous work. Neeson is Michael McCauley, a struggling insurance salesman who is trying to find a way to pay his mortgage and help his son go to college. McCauley is so close to retirement but is blindsided by his boss when he’s laid off. He heads back to get on the train home and just as he’s about to read a book Farmiga’s character approaches him.
The writing in the film has all the originality of a mad-libs you’d pick up at a gas station. There’s an attempt to give Neeson’s character a working man’s vibe (I mean come on… he rides a train every day and drinks coffee), but it comes across as a thin plot device intended to give McCauley some cause for considering the mysterious lady’s offer. Even the mystery which dominates most of the first and second acts is poorly conceived. His character is forced to search for a witness named Pryne, and I’ll give you all one guess what she happens to be reading when McCauley finds her (eye-roll).
Farmiga’s performance is average at best while Neeson’s appears to be going through the motions. There’s nothing eye-popping or exciting about this action star. He indeed looks his age, and no amount photography can disguise that. However, Patrick Wilson’s performance is probably the worst of the entire film. Wilson portrays McCauley’s former partner who appears to be hiding something (hmmm, Neeson’s partner may be a bad guy, sigh). Wilson is dull on screen and brought no energy to the film. Seeing this made me slightly concerned because of his role in the upcoming Aquaman. Hopefully, James Wan can get more out of him.
My one hope was that maybe the special effects would make The Commuter visually appealing, but that was a disaster as well. Can someone explain to me how Neeson suffered only minor abrasions when his head was thrown through a window? The final crash sequence had little believability and came across as hokey. If that’s what you are looking for, then look no further. However, if your family is looking for a quality film, then the last thing you should select is Neeson playing the same role once again.
In a drastic move, Fox has changed release dates for three of their upcoming X-Men films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool 2,New Mutants and Gambit have all been moved from their respective release dates.
The most significant change is that of Josh Boone’s New Mutants which moves from April 13th of this year all the way to February 22nd of 2019. The trailer for the horror based X-Men project debuted last year to much fan praise, leaving many confused about why the project was pushed back.
The Channing Tatum led Gambit film lost its director earlier today as Gore Verbinski exited the project, and you know the saying when it rains it pours. The project, which was set to release Valentines Day 2019 has been moved back to June 7th, placing it in summer blockbuster territory.
The most positive news to come from this is that Deadpool 2 will be releasing two weeks earlier, moving from June 1st to May 18th of this year. Meaning the film will be coming out on the heels of the Marvel mega-movie Avengers: Infinity War and if there’s anyone who can take on the Avengers it’S Wade Wilson.
What are your thoughts on the crazy changes to Fox’s release slate? Let us know in the comments below!
If you just can’t get enough of Rick and Morty and desire to flood your home or office with Funko figures, you’re in luck, because the company has more items, including that of the plush variety, on the way!
Ever since Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland brought us this genius show on [adult swim], fans have been clamoring for not only more episodes, which we might be waiting for a while. There are conflicting reports that a new season may not come till 2019 (story), but also that no one is currently working on any new episodes (story). Either way you look at it, it’s pretty depressing. The hunger is insatiable. Though, there are definitely new things coming in the form of Funko!
The plush offerings are going to be some of the biggest that the company has ever produced for purchase. This collection will include a 12-inch ‘Funko Galactic Plushie XL’ of Snowball and four FYE 16-inch exclusives of Rick, Morty, Mr. Poopy Butthole and Mr. Meeseeks. Toys R Us will also have 16-inch exclusives, though only of both Rick and Morty.
You can also look forward to some excellent new POP! vinyls coming, including two ‘POP! Rides’ figures of Rick. You can scoop him up in a ‘Mad Max Rick’ car or in a what we are more accustomed to seeing him in, ‘‘Rick’s Ship’, a Hot Topic exclusive.
Finally, there are a few individual POP!s on the way, including ‘Prison Break Rick’, ‘Warrior Summer’, the leader of the Death-Stalkers, ‘Hemorrhage’, and ‘Sentient Arm Morty’, which has a 1-in-6 exclusive with a bloody hand. You can also get the ‘Pickle Rick’ figures, of which there are two, including a ‘Pickle Rick (with laser)’ exclusive.
