ABC Reporter Confronts Leslie Jones’s Internet Troll

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Ghostbuster and Saturday Night Live Star Leslie Jones has been the subject of internet harassment in recent months. It began over a month ago when racist slurs were directed towards her at the behest of Breitbart.com tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos.Leslie Jones

As a result of these attacks, Milo was banned from Twitter permanently. Supporters of Milo struck back at her a week and a half ago when they hacked her personal computer posting personal information and adult photos of her on the internet. ABC reporter Terry Moran set out to confront Milo, who refers to himself as a “virtuous troll.” Kudos to Terry Moran for putting him in his place. Check out this video.

Yoshikage Kira Just Wants To Live Quietly, Part 2

After so many episodes of more comical characters having adventures, things go very bad, very fast. Kira, in an effort to ensure Shiguchi doesn’t blab, Kira makes full use of his Stands distinct power. It turns out it has the ability to turn whatever it touches into a bomb.

Later, the characters come together to reflect on what has happened. Its obvious they can’t simply go back to the light hearted episodes after what has occurred. Instead they will have to face Kira head on and get back into the intense action of previous Jojo’s season.

With Kira now so close to the team there is a chance the remaining episodes could be centered around taking him down. There is also a chance not everyone is going to make it out of this.

Heart Attack, Part 1

This episodes features Jotaro and Koichi dealing with one of Deadly Queen’s abilities, The Sheer Heart Attack (Yes, the subtitles decided to drop the first word in the attack because it’s a reference to a Queen album). Durable is an understatement. This thing is able take a beating and keep on coming.

After trying to take Kira on his own, Koichi soon realizes just how outmatched he is. You’d think after watching Jotaro have difficulty dealing with only a single attack of Deadly Queen and even has to employ his ability to stop time in an effort to stop it. Still, there is is a chance Koichi may just find a way to prove his worth.

Things are definitely brutal and tense once again. Now all they need to do is make sure they keep the quality at this level. It may involve someone dying to keep it at this pace for the remainder of the season.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable is streaming on Crunchyroll.

‘Nerve’ Returns To Theaters With $5 Tickets

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Among the better surprises in a summer of endless disappointments was Nerve, the YA teen thriller from Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost (Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3 & 4). It was light, engaging, intimate but also alive and filled with personality in ways most movies weren’t this season. While its ending took it a few steps too far, it kept itself endearing and appealing even through its weakest moments, and it produced one of the most consistently entertaining films of the last few months.

That it didn’t quite find its audience during its theatrical run was disappointing, but most of the year’s good films didn’t. But Nerve, thankfully, will get another chance. It’s returning to 600 theaters nationwide, and tickets are only $5 this time around.

Variety reports on the film’s theatrical return, and it marks a first for Lionsgate, the film’s distributor, in that it’ll use the mobile movie ticketing platform Atom Tickets. The ticketing app is one Lionsgate joined Disney and Fox in creating, and they hope it’ll change the way people — especially youngsters — get their movie tickets (believing they get movie tickets at all these days, of course).

“This innovative promotion is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the opportunities that Atom Tickets creates for our exhibition partners and our moviegoers,” said Michael Burns, Lionsgate’s Vice Chairman, to the trade. “Nerve is the ideal film on which to begin tapping the full potential of the Atom platform.”

To be clear, Nerve did well enough during its initial run, earning $37 million respectably on a budget of $20 million. But Lionsgate wants to give it more love (and they should), and now it’s coming back in select venues. And this is a pretty appropriate platform for the technology-enthused film, one that might not have a long shelf life but will certainly be liked by those who give it a decent chance. If you’re not one of those people already, and you’re looking for a good movie to see in theaters this holiday weekend, you should make a point to see Nerve. It’s certainly worth the five bucks, and it might even, ahem, strike a nerve.

Review: ‘Berserk’ 10 : The Egg’s Plan

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Hell’s Angels

SPOILER ALERT

The secret behind recent events finally becomes known. The acolyte of the God Hand, The Egg of the Perfect World takes the time to reveal who is and what he plans to do. Before becoming all demonic, he was a human who was completely rejected by society because he was a beggar and he used the name Nobody. He became a hermit who was living underground until his home was used as a corpse pile. It was then the God Hand gave him his powers and his new form, which looks surprisingly like Behelit, the egg shaped items which designate those they chose to be worthy. He now wants nothing more than to slaughter all the humans around in an effort to open a gate to the other world where the God Hand reside so they can come to our world. This is a fairly interesting segment but unfortunately comes a bit too late in this story line. This demonic egg is more interesting as a character than Nina has been for her entire appearance on this show and this is the first episode he has really interacted with anyone. He is only now getting a chance to reveal what he was plotting while he was observing everything from the shadows. It would have been much more interesting if he had told someone his plan earlier. Maybe before giving Mozgus and his team powers.

Other than this interesting bit of exposition from The Egg of the Perfect World, not much else happens in the episode. Guts is still fighting the different minions of Mozgus but is having some difficulty taking them on. It’s basically been proven so far, if a person isn’t Guts then they are useless on the battlefield. This puts a lot of pressure on him as a character as he has to supply all the hack and slash action the fans came to this series for in the first place. At least back with the previous series there was the entire Band of the Hawk to take some of the responsibility off Guts. At least for a little while anyways.

Berserk is streaming on Crunchyroll.

We are still enjoying the second half of season two of ‘Fear the Walking Dead.’ A hotel party and zombies falling from the sky! On the other hand, Ridley Scott gave his son Luke some money to make ‘Morgan,’ which is a solid rip-off of everything we have seen before.

Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery: 12 Minutes To Destiny – An Acerbic Review

Monkeys Fighting Robots

If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you might notice that this isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed a beer from Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery. In the past I’ve reviewed Flying Monkeys’ Hoptical Illusion APA, their Genius of Suburbia ISA, and their intensely hop-forward Smashbomb Atomic IPA. I like those so I figured I’d try their 12 Minutes to Destiny Hibiscus Pale Lager.

Hibiscus or no, 12 Minutes to Destiny also advertises its raspberry flavour. And, although this is my first hibiscus beer, I did review a raspberry one, so this isn’t completely new to me. Having talked about Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery in my previous reviews, I won’t go over the award-winning history of the brewery here. I’ll just say that I’m glad that this unique Ontarian brewery continues to operate with the same mantra I do, “Normal is weird”. So let’s get down to some very weird tasting! (Wait, does that make it normal?!) I don’t think I’ve ever had hibiscus tea, so I can’t promise a fully informed opinion. But, having looked up what hibiscus tastes like, it seems like a good partner for raspberry. I got a six-pack at my local LCBO.

Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery: 12 Minutes to Destiny – First Sip

This beer is a light red colour. With lots of carbonation it develops a thick layer of pinkish foam when poured into a pint glass. 12 Minutes to Destiny has a strong raspberry smell that enhances its rich flavour. This beer is tart off the top, but it finishes with a mildly grainy aftertaste. 12 Minutes to Destiny’s high level of carbonation gives it a fizzy mouthfeel that supports its tartness, and allows its complex flavour full effect.

Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery: 12 Minutes to Destiny – Last Sip

At 4.1% ABV, you can have a couple. When enjoyed straight from its 355 mL bottle, 12 Minutes to Destiny is a bit too foamy. Plus, it loses some of its complex character. It retains some of its unique flavour but the complex hibiscus-raspberry combination is lost. So, ensure that you pour this heady beer into a glass before you drink it. This is a dessert beer so drink it with some pie or a bowl of fruit to really enjoy it.
