Jack is back. This is the tagline which has been the featured on Adult Swim for the return of Samurai Jack. The fifth season is set to premiere on March 11th, 2017 and has been proclaimed as being the final season many have always wanted. Now a full trailer has been released and fans are able to get a better glimpse of what to expect in this new season.
The most glaring aspect of this trailer is the extreme tone it delivers. Samurai Jack was known for containing the right amount of action to satisfy many fans of more mature cartoons but at the same time still managed to keep a rating of TV-Y7. This new trailer shows things are going to be a lot different this time around by featuring some extreme violence and mature storytelling elements. Jack (once again voiced by Phil LaMarr) is shown to be somehow become a timeless being and has lost himself in the course of his battle against Aku. He is also shown wielding a gun, getting stabbed, and bleeding profusely in the course of the brief trailer. The casualties of Aku and his forces are not simply limited to destroyed buildings and burning villages to showcase their wraith. Instead bodies of innocent bystanders dead on the ground are on clear display. It is more than obvious since the show was intended to air on Adult Swim, the creators have taken full advantage of the ability to push the boundaries of what they are allowed to include in terms of content. This will definitely be unlike anything fans of the show have seen before. With any luck it will find a way to be even more entertaining then it was previously.

This series will be a brief, semi-comedic review of the CW superhero shows. You can check out last week’s review post here, or see the tally of winners below. The only shows discussed will be ‘Arrow’, ‘Flash’, and ‘Supergirl’. There WILL be some spoilers discussed, so only look at the reviews you’re up to date on!
Supergirl, “We Can Be Heroes” (Jan 30)
Winn clearly spent WAY less time on Mon-El’s suit than anyone else
Is Livewire supposed to be Supergirl’s Joker? If so, CW needs to get FOX’s Jerome instead. The twist of making Livewire a scapegoat was interesting, but not wholly earned. The brain-death plot line feels like a cheap way to resolve the Martian conflict. They save it at the end, but M’Gann deserved better. Winn is still pretty whiny, which I thought would stop after last week. Him then hopping to prove Supergirl wrong also feels off-brand. Seeing Guardian and Mon-El bumble around is entertaining, but it proves that Supergirl needs to cut down on its super-folk. CW shows already have too many heroes per series.
SCORE: 6.5/10 Car Doors
The Flash, “Dead or Alive” (Jan 31)
“Who cares if I take him? You’ll get another Wells next season!”
Zack Stentz, you’ve done it again. Iris getting a chance to shine is great, and Kid Flash is still lots of fun. I like the idea of trans-dimensional Collector cops. The Speed Force could use agents like that instead of those creepy Dementor things. The Cisco/HR relationship development felt inevitable, but it was sweet to see it come to fruition. Cisco really does have a problem of falling in love with villains. It was great to see him be funny and dorky without relying on nerd culture references. Well, except for Westworld, but I get that. And what a great button with Barry and Wally! More than ever, I’m excited to see what’s next for The Flash!
SCORE: 8/10 Sci-Fi Novels
Arrow, “Second Chances” (Feb 1)
Will the flashbacks to Hell finally stop after five years?
I like that there’s a new Black Canary, but I hope that Team Arrow slims its ranks down. Canary’s name and origin story are rather cringe-worthy, but she is a great DC staple. And the twist on the “what would Vince want” line was golden. While she might be fun, however, there seems to be no need for a new Al Ghul girl. The mini-me Felicity is somewhat interesting, but hopefully she’ll take a darker turn. Oliver’s helicopter scene is almost as unbelievably cool as Captain America’s. The flashbacks are finally wrapping up! We’re almost done with flashbacks! Hooray!
SCORE: 7/10 Flash Post-Its
WEEKLY WIN TALLY:
Arrow: 4.5 Weeks
The Flash: 3.5 Week
Supergirl: 3 Weeks

After last night’s Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No TalesSuper Bowl spot, a new poster was released on Twitter. Check it out below.
What do you think of the poster? Are you looking forward to the film?
Plot synopsis:“Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.”
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theaters on May 26, 2017.
20th Century Fox has released an awesome new clip for Logan, giving us possibly our best look yet at the dark and gritty tone of Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine movie. Titled “You Know the Drill” the clip features Jackman’s iconic character as he tries to talk down a few armed di**heads.
Warning – This Clip Features Spoilers
The clip also shows that this older interpretation of Wolverine isn’t as quick to extend those metallic claws. instead of simply stabbing, dismembering, or killing these douchebags Wolverine simply gives the leader a broken nose. It looks like Wolverine is done with the old X-Men days and isn’t fond of showing people what he can do.
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
Directed by James Mangold the film stars Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
So here we have it folks, the much-anticipated teaser trailer for Stranger Things Season Two. As expected not much is revealed plot wise, but there is enough there to get us salivating. It looks like Eleven is definitely back (along with her taste for Eggo Waffles), some very Lovecraftian imagery, and love for the Ghostbusters as well!
Here is a list of the previously released titles for each episode.
MadMax The Boy Who Came Back To Life The Pumpkin Patch The Palace The Storm The Pollywog The Secret Cabin The Brain The Lost Brother
Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think, any theories, and your speculations in the comments!
Stranger Things Season Two is set to premier on October 31, 2017.
Disney has released an awesome new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales during the Super Bowl.
Much like the first trailer, this Super Bowl spot doesn’t offer any story details for the upcoming Pirates sequel, but at least this time around we get to see Johnny Depp’s infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. The trailer also shows the return of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner, who we last saw in At World’s End. From the looks of this trailer, the fifth installment of Disney’s Pirate franchise will be the darkest so far. Before the reveal of Sparrow, we are shown various sequences of epic proportions.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
Starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Geoffrey Rush, and Brenton Thwaites, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens May 25, 2017.

In theaters next weekend, The Lego Batman Movie mixes the fun of The Lego Movie while spoofing the superhero genre resulting in a film that will entrance all comers.
Summary
Our hero’s journey begins with a pitch black screen because as The Dark Knight explains all great movies start that way. Batman (Will Arnett) is a self-center vigilante with narcissistic tendencies who prefers to work alone. During the opening fight sequence, he tells the Joker “Batman doesn’t do ships.. as in relationships” which immediately breaks the Joker (Zack Galifianakis), heart. After defeating the Joker for about the millionth time in a row, Batman heads home to celebrate alone. Back in the Bat-Cave, he treats himself to some microwave lobster and a viewing of Jerry Maguire.
His life of solitude faces challenges, at first by his butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) who urges him to take an active role in his adopted son Dick Grayson’s (Micheal Cera) life. After much pouting, he relents and allows him to come on one of his missions as he believes that Dick is expendable. He’s pushed further by brand new police commissioner Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) to consider working in a collaborative manner with the Gotham police department instead of working “outside” the law. While this is going on, The Joker hatches a plan that he hopes will elevate his standing in Batman’s eyes so that he’s considered his greatest enemy. The film ultimately becomes a tale of whether or not Bruce Wayne/Batman will accept help from his friends as he faces his biggest test yet.
What I Didn’t Like
I do think the film could have been around 80 minutes. There were moments where the film did tend to drag a little, but it wasn’t enough to completely derail what was happening on screen. However, had they tighten the movie up slightly, it might have raised the overall impact of the gags on screen.
Seth Grahame-Smith and the writing team on The Lego Batman movie attempt to construct a story that has a heart just like its predecessor, The Lego Movie. They hammer the theme of “we are a family” repeatedly throughout the film to the point where it borders on being excessive. Why did they even attempt to insert any heart into this narrative? This movie was meant to be simply a spoof of the superhero genre and nothing more.
What I did Like
I thought the film was cleverly written. It has plenty of gags mixed in with a ton of callbacks to any number of the Batman movies and even the TV series. The writers found plenty of comedy in Batman’s background, even exploiting the idea of how big your ego must be to finance your burning desire to become a vigilante. They had plenty of lines in which Batman was talking about his nine pack of abs, and he even has a song (that he plays) while kicking bad guy butt around Gotham City. Alfred even reminds Batman of how many times he has an identity crisis dating back to an episode of the television series back in 1966, to which Batman replies “I have aged beautifully.”
The use of many of the characters in the DC universe was a welcomed addition as well. It made me giggle that Justice League didn’t want anything to do with Batman. The use of the super villains was a nice touch as well. What sold me on their use of characters was how they used Batman and Superman as the launching pad for Joker being heartbroken by the Dark Knight. I guess the Joker couldn’t handle the idea of The Dark Knight liking to “fight around.”
The voice acting in this film was bright and energetic. It’s easy to hear how much fun they were having when they were making this picture. Director Chris Mckay made some brilliant decision during this making of this film and that one comes to mind was him allowing Will Arnett riff. There are times during the movie when you know Arnett is just reading the jokes that were written and others seemed improvised. For Example, the one where Batman is throwing a temper because he doesn’t want to go to Jim Gordon’s retirement party and immediately breaks into beatboxing. Hearing Batman beat box at that moment didn’t seem to fit, but it sure as hell was funny.
Final Thoughts
While The Lego Batman doesn’t reach the lofty standards set forth by The Lego Movie, this film is a highly entertaining spoof of an ever growing genre. The animation is surprisingly crisp during the film (especially during the fight scenes). Is this movie perfect? No, I think in parts of it tries too hard to be relevant and the film could have easily been 80 minutes long. That being said, I can not remember the last time I’ve laughed that much in a movie. The Lego Batman movie isn’t going to win any awards, but it will certainly delight fans of all ages. Can’t ask for much more than that.
20th Century Fox has revealed an awesome new look at Logan during this year’s Super Bowl. The short TV Spot features mostly seen footage however, there are some really cool shots that haven’t appeared in previous trailers.
Titled ‘Grace’ the new teaser brings home the emotional tone of Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine movie. If you didn’t think this would be a sad film before, you certainly will after watching this.It also becomes pretty clear that the third solo Wolverine movie will see the passing of the torch from Hugh Jackman to Dafne Keen’s X-23. This looks like a father/daughter relationship, but with more violence and severed limbs.
In the near future, a weary Wolverine cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Wolverine’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
Marvel Studios just dropped an awesome new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, and while the short trailer teased various new characters, the most notable addition is a possible villain in the film, Ayesha.
Portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki (The Man From U.N.C.L.E), Ayesha is often referred to as “Her” in Marvel Comics. The character was a creation of The Enclave who also created “Him” known to Marvel fans as Adam Warlock. According to director James Gunn, Warlock won’t appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel but it’s interesting to see that Ayesha is being introduced in a major role.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their new-found family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 Lands In theaters May 2017.
