Awards season is about to start its big push. But there’s been plenty to enjoy so far in 2017, a year of big movies and small movies and some tremendous movie moments in both. You may have forgotten about some of these – stuff moves pretty fast these days – so this Turkey Day, here’s 12 movie moments to be thankful for in 2017…

11Harrison Ford in BLADE RUNNER 2049

The fact that Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 was a financial bomb isn’t really important. The original was the same, and time healed those wounds via re-releases and anniversary box sets, etc. Blade Runner 2049 may only be for hardcore sci-fi nerds and fans of the original, but there’s no denying that Harrison Ford turns in one of his best performances in a while.

Ford was great, iconic, in The Force Awakens. This is true. But beyond that the curmudgeony superstar usually seems disinterested in whatever he’s doing. In BR2049 though, Ford’s Rick Deckard is a broken, lonely soul, forced to wander the barren wastelands of LA because he made what was undoubtedly the right choice. A choice so right and so selfless, it makes the final shot of redemption all the more powerful.
