Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman film was a surprise hit a few years ago, and Kingsman: The golden Circle looks to be doing appropriate sequel things: expanding the reach of the story, adding top-tier talent, and making sure the violence is on point again.
Here is a red band trailer for the movie. It shows some new footage, lays out the plot, and it has a couple of blood spatters and one naughty word. Other than that, it’s fairly safe:
When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman’s journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy.
I am down for any time Channing Tatum shows up in a movie these days, and I never thought I would say that when the guy was making those dancing movies.
Aside from the star, Taron Egerton, and Tatum, Kingsman: The Golden Circle has Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Mark Strong, Vinnie Jones and, somehow, Colin Firth.
I was not a huge fan of the original Kingsman at first, but I’ve come around on it. The story just exists in this strange middle ground between straight parody and serious action adventure. It’s tough to nail down, which is what I think director Matthew Vaughn wants.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens September 22.
