You should watch Fleabag. If you watched it already, perhaps consider watching it again. Above all else, the Amazon/BBC Three dark dramedy gives show creator/lead actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge a tremendous calling card, which she’s already ready to cash. The British actress/writer joins Phil Lord & Chris Miller’s currently-filming, still-untitled young Han Solo movie. She’s set to play a key, undisclosed performance-capture character.
Variety (via EW) broke the casting news. It’s unclear how exactly she’ll factor inside the film, but comparisons towards Maz Kanata, Chewbacca, C-3PO and, most recently, Rogue One‘s K-2SO were made regarding the mysterious new character. Waller-Bridge joins fellow cast members Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson.
Waller-Bridge is also known for Broadchurch, Drifters and Crashing, in addition to Fleabag. The latter show, however, is how she’s known best in the United States and abroad. She’s an excellent screen presence with a dynamic range and a variety of facial expressions. It’s exciting to see her play such a prominent role in this much-anticipated prequel. Here’s hoping it’s just one of many that’ll soon come her way as she climbs up that mountain.
We’ll have to wait to see how sparkling red lipstick enters into a galaxy far, far away. For now, however, catch up on Fleabag before this new Han Solo movie comes out next year.
