Ben Affleck Is Unsure About His Future As Batman

Monkeys Fighting Robots

San Diego Comic-Con International 2017 was a wild one. Not only did it have great reveals and trailers, but it also seemingly settled a debate online that had been going down for weeks, if not months. Many assumed Ben Affleck’s future as Batman/Bruce Wayne was locked, as he’s part of the universe. Others, however, had skepticism and thought he’d be done with the role sooner than later. After Affleck tried to silence his critics, it seems as though the conversation is starting back up again.

In an interview with extratv, Affleck was asked about his future as the caped crusader. The interview mentioned that Justice League will be his third time as the character, and asked if we’ll see him at least two more times. Affleck’s answer?

“I don’t know about that. We’ll see what the future holds”.

While nothing was confirmed or denied in this interview, it seems like even Affleck doesn’t know what his future as Batman will be.

Do you think he will continue to play Batman for the foreseeable future, or is he done after one solo film, or even Justice League? Comment below, let us know your thoughts.

Full-Length ‘Dark’ Trailer, the Next Bingeworthy Netflix Show

Monkeys Fighting Robots

A few weeks ago, Netflix released a brief teaser for Dark, their new German-language series that looks like a mix of Stranger Things and three or four David Fincher movies. Now, we have the full-length trailer, and this one looks pretty compelling.

See for yourself:

The disappearance of two kids in the German small-town of Winden opens abysses that turn the concept of time on its head. The question is not who has kidnapped the children…but when.

Obviously the synopsis indicates this will be a time-jumping thriller. whatever the case, this looks beautiful and haunting and quite thrilling. The symmetrical imagery reminds me of David Fincher’s cinematic compositions. Early buzz is through the roof, so this should be the next show sci-fi fans will binge when it opens December 1.

Dark is a ten-part series and it’s brought to us by directors Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. They aren’t familiar names in the States yet, but they might wind up being the next Duffer Brothers for Netflix.

Exclusive: Tom King’s Batman #35 Check Out The First Five Pages

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Batman #35 hits your local comic book store on November 15, but Monkeys Fighting Robots Thursday night received the first five pages of the book courtesy of DC Comics.

Talia al Ghul is not a happy camper, and she’s trying her best to sour Catwoman’s mood as well. If there is one thing Tom King is really good at, it’s telling a dark, twisted tale and King goes straight to Talia’s childhood with issue 35 of Batman.

Since we are comic book nerds, we notice the little things that make comic books great. Look very close at the splash-page of two and three, and you will see great details in Jordie Bellaire’s color work. There isn’t a lot of color on this page, but Bellaire makes the page pop with the colors of the two swords and the flesh tones.

Check out the five-page preview with Olivier Coipel’s 800th issue variant below.

About the issue:
“Dream of Me” part three! Has the Caped Crusader passed the point of no return? Turns out he’s going to need a little help from his friends, but this help comes with a downside: Batman’s true intentions will be exposed.

The 32-page comic is written by Tom King, with art by Joëlle Jones, and colors by Jordie Bellaire. King has been writing a bi-weekly Batman tale since issue one, post Rebirth. His run of Batman is sitting at an 8.2 out 10 according to comicbookroundup.com, with an average of 29 critics per issue.

‘All The Money In The World’ is a completed film from Ridley Scott that happens to star the now infamous Kevin Spacey. Scott has decided to remove Spacey from the film, recast the role to Christopher Plummer, reshoot all the scenes involving Spacey, and still meet the film’s December 22 release date, according to a report by Deadline.

Spacey played J Paul Getty the billionaire grandfather who refuses to pay the ransom of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III, this leads to a frantic thriller as the kidnapped heir’s mother Gail Harris, and Getty’s advisor tries to free the youth.

Check out the first trailer with Spacey below:

REVIEW: The Battle For Earth Begins In ‘Suicide Squad’ #29

Monkeys Fighting Robots

It’s time to hop back to the moon to see how our favorite Squad is doing! The Suicide Squad is split into two to cover multiple fronts after an attack on Amanda Waller. Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Boomerang, and Katana are sent to space, finding the original Task Force X. Rick Flagg, the former leader of the Force, gives the Squad a rundown of what their mission was for Earth – Fighting aliens that threatened humanity. These events lead the Squad and the Force to team up to finish one last mission involving the Red Wave Monster.

While all of this is going on, Deadshot, El Diablo, and Enchantress find an abandoned airfield with the written accounts of the original Task Force X. Those accounts, unfortunately, are being guarded by robots, designed to kill intruders. This leaves both our ground and space halves of the Squad in very precarious positions.

**SOME SPOILERS BELOW**

Story:

We find our two squads in the midst of their missions, both going as well as Squad missions go. On the moon, Harley, Croc, Boomerang, and Katana work their way INTO the moon. On their way, Flagg becomes antsier as they approach their goal. Along the way, the group finds the remains of original Task Force X and ARGENT members. Considering the current troubles of the earth Squad, it begins to paint a picture. The Squad on Earth find themselves cornered by the robots, all proclaiming they work for ARGENT, the espionage half of Task Force X. If it wasn’t clear by both the robots and agents on the moon, it’s clear who the villain of the arc actually is. Both Squads’ paths are now aimed right towards each other as we have hit this halfway point of the arc.

The Squad heads INTO the moon

While I have enjoyed the story and recreation of Task Force X’s origins, we’ve hit a slump. We have the history of Task Force X, but there is no progress in the story. The Squad on the moon quite literally walked up to a door for this chapter. Yes, there was character building conversation, but one would argue that was what the last issue was for.

If you have read the past two reviews I made for the arc, one of the major downsides of the story is the lack of action. This issue provides us with plenty. While it is mostly contained back on Earth with the ARGENT robots, it fit the brutal yet random nature that the Squad is known for. It’s a breath of the modern day Squad to appease the fans.

Earth Squad vs Robots

Art:

While the pencil work has fallen to Bagenda alone once more, the art was relatively good. Due to the more horror-like setting of the moon, the creepier designs shine with the introduction of the Red Wave and its alien brethren. Add that with wonderful color work from Adriano Lucas and we have a book that fits the tone of the story.

Evil Rick Flag

Conclusion:

While the action and art have improved since the start of the story arc, we have hit an abrupt stop. The story has slowed to a crawl in this issue, making it dull. While the cliffhanger ending provides us enough incentive to come back in two weeks, this chapter ends up disappointing.

ICYMI: Netflix Announces Mark Millar’s First Book, The Magic Order

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Mark Millar lost out to the Brian Michael Bendis news yesterday, so we figured we should rerun this article.

Netflix acquired Millar World back in August, and yesterday Netflix announced Millar’s first book The Magic Order with art by Olivier Coipel. The series will run six issues with an expected released in Spring of 2018.

About the series:
We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster and these people are the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians sworn to protect our world for generations must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends, and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians, and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.

Readers will be able to purchase a print or digital copy of The Magic Order. Millar chimed in with excitement for the series and his artist.

“We wanted to make a splash with our first book for Netflix, and this is it. I love dark fantasy, and there’s an enormous gap in the market for something like this. Netflix hiring Olivier has also made me the happiest guy alive. I’ve been after him for almost ten years so to finally have our names in the same book is an absolute honor” said Millar.

It will be interesting to see how Netflix handles the publishing side of the company or will Millar Word be left of its own.

‘Mosaic’ Trailer: Choose You Own Adventure in Steven Soderbergh’s New Experiment

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Mosaic is the latest project from Steven Soderbergh, and another attempt from the eccentric filmmaker to try something new with the medium.

Like those popular books from back in the day, Mosaic will let you choose your own path for the characters in this, a murder mystery starring Sharon Stone, Garrett Hedlund, and Frederick Weller. Let the trailer explain it:

Here is a bit more description from The Playlist:

It’s free, and it will let you fully explore the narrative which will find viewers following famed children’s book author/illustrator Olivia Lake (Sharon Stone) and two men who will soon play important roles in her life: Joel (Garrett Hedlund), a handyman and aspiring artist, and Eric (Frederick Weller), a suitor whose motives may not be genuine. You’ll be able to choose whether or not to roll with Joel’s or Eric’s perspective on the story, and along the way, they’ll meet a number of new characters with their own versions of the story to tell.

It’s a pretty cool experiment from the man who is always looking to try new things. This one is definitely for “the kids” though, I can’t imagine my parents having the first clue how all of this would work.

Mosaic is available now on AppleTV and all it’s various Apple brethren.
