Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is not your average stuffy A-lister, as he apparently dipped into his own pocketbook to help make sure the Deadpool film was a success, according to Comicbook. Reynolds, in the past, had reportedly shelled out $10,000 of his own cash to make sure that a Golden Girls shirt could be worn in Deadpool.
For any true fan of the chimichanga-loving, madcap character, Wade Wilson is a devoted fan of Bea Arthur in the Deadpool comics.
Deadpool was a labor of love for many, and an answered prayer to many fans, but just how deep did this labor of love go for those involved in the film? Ryan Reynolds went above and beyond the call of duty for the sake of the film’s writers, as Paul Wernick And Rhett Rheese regaled a story to AMC’sGeeking Out as to just how generous Reynolds was on set.
“We were on set every day. Interestingly, Ryan wanted us there, we were on the project for six years. It was really a core creative team of us, Ryan, and the director Tim Miller. Fox interestingly wouldn’t pay for us to be on set. Ryan Reynolds paid out of his own money, out of his own pocket.”
The love and attention certainly brought Deadpool to the big screen proper. His Marvel Comics creator Rob Liefeld, according to Cinemablend, stated that the film would establish the character on a “Global scale.”
If the overall fan reaction and attendance is any indication, fans certainly gave that love and attention right back. It is considered the biggest R rated film ever, so that is a lot of love.
Deadpool 2 has already been in the works, but no concrete date has been planned. Though, if Ryan Reynolds and crew can use the same formula for the next film, it is likely to received the same success… and love.
Wentwoth Miller’s Captain Cold has been a fan favorite since he was introduce into CW’s “The Flash” in the first season. It appears their popularity has reach the powers that be at Warner Bros., and if rumors are to be believed, would be the main villains to Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster in WB/DC’s ‘The Flash’ solo movie.
Not too long ago, rumors circulated that The Rogues would be the main antagonists. Jeff Sneider however reports that his source claim it will actually be Captain Cold and his little sister Golden Glider!
Seeing rumors about the Rogues in THE FLASH. FWIW, last week I heard villains are Rogues members Golden Glider and her bro Captain Cold.
The latter was played by Peyton List in the CW’s incarnation of the character.
Rick Famuyiwa directs this highly anticipated film from a script penned by Seth Grahame-Smith. Ezra Miller stars as the titular hero with Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. Fans can expect more casting announcements to be made coming weeks. Be sure to come back to Monkeys Fighting Robots for more on “The Flash”.

‘Teen Wolf’ and ‘Criminal Minds’ Creator Jeff Davis Bringing Horror Classic To TNT!
How will this Swedish vampire tale translate to television? We will find out soon enough now that TNT has started to develop a pilot. ‘Let The Right One In‘ originally started off as a novel and then became a film. It was later remade for American audiences in 2010. It now gets another go with this TV adaption.
“‘Let the Right One In’ combines elements of horror, revenge thriller and adolescent romance into an unforgettable and truly unsettling tale,” said Sarah Aubrey, TNT’s executive vice president of original programming. “This novel is a watershed of rich storytelling, making it an abundant source from which Jeff, Marty, Becky and Simon will bring to life in this all-new adaptation.”
Jeff Davis has written the pilot for TNT and will serve as the executive producer. Joining him as executive producer is Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein. This news comes shortly after it was announced that ‘Teen Wolf‘ will end in 2017; allowing Davis more time for other projects.
Looks like TNT is trying to create a unique horror brand for themselves. ‘Let The Right One In‘ will be joining the reboot of ‘Tales From The Crypt’ on the network.
Have you seen ‘Let The Right One In‘ or the American remake titled ‘Let Me In’?

This morning, Ben Affleck tweeted a video of a live action Deathstroke, leading to TONS of fan speculation. Many assumed that the video meant the mercenary will be appearing in next year’s Justice League movie. While that may still be the case, it is now being reported that Slade Wilson will actually be the central antagonist of the standalone Batman film.
Deathstroke will, in fact, be the main antagonist of the Batman standalone movie he’s directing, TheWrap has exclusively learned from an individual with knowledge of the situation.
Very little is known about the Batman film, other than that Affleck himself is directing, as well as co-writing the script with DC Comics President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.
It was also previously reported by Birth.Movies.Death. that “many, if not most, members of Batman’s rogue’s gallery will be making appearances in the film.” That is probably still the case, with Deathstroke taking center stage.
This appears to be test footage, and there’s been no announcement on casting for the character. In ‘Suicide Squad’ it appeared that Scott Eastwood’s character Lieutenant GQ Edwards died in an explosion, but you never saw his body.

Before moving to the director’s chair, Scafaria wrote the screenplay for Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. She then directed Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley.
A final decision isn’t likely to come until the end of the summer. There’s also the possibility of other names surfacing.
Captain Marvel tells the story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), an Air Force pilot who gains super powers when her DNA absorbs alien genetic material.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is still a few months away, in the meantime, new images from the film have been released, according to Making Star Wars.
The new pictures, some you can see below, appear in the latest issue of Empire magazine. Most of the new images highlight the characters closely involved in the rebellion.
New Rogue One Photos
Among the images? A new shot of Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso with Cassian Ando (Diego Luna) and K-2SO (Alan Tudyk). We get a close-up shot of Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), the hot-headed lead pilot for the Rebels. There’s also a behind-the-scenes shot with director Gareth Edwards, Jones and Luna on set.
It hasn’t taken long for the images to circulate on social media:
Rogue One tells they the story of a group of resistance fighters who unite to steal plans to the Death Star. Jyn Erso (Jones) is a young rebel who is recruited to join the team.
She is joined by Rebel officer Captain Cassian Andor (Luna), assassin Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen) and Bodhi Rook (Ahmed), the Rebels’ lead pilot. Rounding out the cast: Tudyk as the droid K-2SO, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera and Ben Mendelsohn as the main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.
Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) directs. Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy wrote the screenplay. Kathleen Kennedy produced.
The film underwent four weeks of reshoots this summer, but that hasn’t affected its release date.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story arrives in theaters on December 16.
October fast approaches and the greatest holiday of the year — Halloween — is near! It’s that time when horror takes center stage. There was a time not long ago where horror and television weren’t a great mix. In the 80s, while Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees were murdering sinful teens, television was dominated by severe melodrama, mystery-of-week formulas, and three-camera sitcoms with laugh tracks. In the 90s, Scream redefined the slasher, and while the film kept the gore, it also lightened up the tone with a sense of humor. By the early oughts, the slasher had seemingly been killed on the big screen, murdered by ‘found footage’ and zombies. But like the antagonists of the genre, you can’t keep a masked killer down, and the slashers have entered your home through your television.
Last year FOX premiered Scream Queens from creator Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck, Glee). From the opening scene to the final moments of the 13-episode season, the show proved to have a vicious sense of humor and an absolute love for the slasher genre. Scream Queens gave viewers the gore, fantastic characters to root for and against, and whip-smart dialogue. Emma Roberts, the centerpiece of the show, delivers some brutally fantastic lines as self-absorbed Chanel Oberlin and takes ‘bitch’ to a whole new level. By the end of the season one, Chanel isn’t the one you’re hoping will die next.

MTV, already with a hit horror-ish show in Teen Wolf, has produced two seasons of Scream based on Wes Craven’s 90s horror hit Scream. Without cheating on the gore, Scream does justice to the source material, stretching out the story of masked killers in a small town over ten horror-filled episodes. Just like Scream the movie existed in a world where horror cliches are well-known, Scream on MTV subverts the genre and adds a layer within it all as it takes place 20 years after another slasher tortured the town.
Tucked away in the big, bold world of streaming services is Chiller, a channel devoted to horror which has added to the growing list of slasher shows with a great, eight-episode series called, appropriately, Slasher. A young woman comes back to live in the house where her parents were murdered by a slasher years and years prior. She’s hoping to come to terms with what’s happened but instead comes face to face with the very monster who killed her parents while a new slasher roams around killing townspeople with sin-filled pasts.
It’s hard to pinpoint how horror snuck its way onto television. Shows like Dexter blurred the line between hero and killer. American Horror Story and The Walking Dead are mainstays on television today. For now, the slasher movie is lying mostly dormant, regulated to a purely b-movie existence on streaming services. But slashers on TV seems like a perfect match now. The stories are closer to home, more personal, and more terrifying.
Ever wonder where the Thor was during Captain America: Civil War? This hilarious mockumentary answers all of our questions.
Marvel Studios officially released the mockumentary, which was previously shown at Comic-Con. The hilarious featurette explains why Hemsworth’s character didn’t appear in Civil War and exactly what the god of thunder has been doing since Age of Ultron.
Watch “While You Were Fighting: A Thor Mockumentary” Below
So what has our favourite Norse God been doing? Well, not a lot. The mockumentary is packed full of hilarious content, with Mjölnir getting his own bed being my personal favourite. If anything is made clear it’s that the hero definitely needs to find some trouble. Life gets pretty boring for a superhero with no villain.
Although the small mockumentary doesn’t offer up much from Thor: Ragnarok, it does give fans a look at director Taika Waititi’s unique comedy style and the direction he is taking the character. The mockumentary also perfectly sets up a new tone for the franchise and gives Chris Hemsworth the chance stretch his surprisingly big comedic muscles.
Thor: Ragnarok is currently filming in Australia, so it’ll be a while before we see any official trailer or teaser. The film has an all-star cast of Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Kate Blanchett, and Tessa Thompson.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled for release on October 27, 2017.
This is a refreshing change of pace. After three weeks in the number one spot, Suicide Squad slunk into number two this weekend, with Fede Alvarez’s impressive, immersive original horror film Don’t Breathe in the number one spot with $26.1 million. With a budget under $10 million, this one should be a hit, and Sony should be proud. Hopefully, they produce more like it, or at least more from Alvarez. He’s a major talent, and he deserves to make it big.
It hasn’t been a successful summer in many respects, but between The Conjuring 2, The Shallows, Lights Outand now Don’t Breathe, horror films have certainly held their own better than most. Much like family animated films, they’ve developed a consistently profitable niche, and the horror films are benefited by their rather cheap budgets. With strong reviews and even stronger word of mouth thrown into the mix, horror films don’t often do as well in their second weekends, but there’s a good chance Don’t Breathe will have some stronger legs.
Suicide Squad, meanwhile, earned $12.1 million during its fourth weekend, which rounds its domestic total to $282.9 million. Ultimately, this one is more or less a hit for the studio, but is it as big a hit as Warner Bros. wanted? That’s the question to ask. They had a lot riding on this film, and it’s questionable if they got what they wanted from David Ayer’s anti-superhero blockbuster. Time will always and forever be the truest test, I guess. That’s something I say a lot these days, isn’t it?
How about some good news? Kubo and the Two Stringsneeds more love, plain and simple. It’s not merely the best animated movie of the year; it’s one of the year’s best films. During its debut weekend last weekend, it opened to a rather underwhelming $12.6 in fourth place, but it looks like it’s going to have some much-deserved legs. It moved up to third place, earning $7.9 million to its $24.9 domestic gross and adding 19 theaters to its count in the process.
It still has a little ways to go before it makes back its $60 million budget, but here’s hoping it happens. It deserves to be loved and, more importantly, it deserves to be seen, especially on the big screen. Give Laika your money. You (hopefully) won’t be disappointed. It demands to be seen on the big screen, 3D or not.
Movies that don’t deserve your money are this weekend’s other two releases: Mechanic: Resurrection and Hands of Stone. Needless to say, neither made a big impression, although they certainly had less theaters than their competition. Mechanic: Resurrection came in fifth place with $7.5 million, which is less than the $11.4 million earned during the debut of its predecessor, 2011’s The Mechanic.
Hands of Stone, meanwhile, opened in 810 theaters and earned $1.7 million in 16th place. It’s safe to say this one isn’t necessarily a knockout, but who expected it to be one? Except maybe the Weinsteins, but even they seemed underwhelmed by their new film. They hardly marketed it, and it’s not hard to see why.
Alright, I believe it’s time to wrap up the box office report for the weekend. Sausage Party continues to do well, coming in fourth place with $7.7 million added to its exceptional $80 million domestic gross. Additionally, Pete’s Dragon continues to meddle a bit, coming in $7.28 million added to its $54.7 domestic gross. But hey, it’s getting closer towards that $65 million budget at least. Also, War Dogs dropped 50 percent over its second weekend, coming in 7th place with $7.25 million.
Meanwhile, Jason Bourne came in ninth with $5.2 million, but it did exceptionally well in its China debut (despite several complaints about its 3D format). And Ben-Hur continues to have a rough go, moving down to 10th place with a meager $4.5 million earned during its weekend. That makes its domestic total $19.5 million, which makes its prospects of making back its $100 million budget even steeper. It’s safe to say that it doesn’t have a horse in this race.
