The marketing machine for the new Tomb Raider, starring Alicia Vikander, is ramping up. We now have a poster, a teaser to the trailer, and news that the trailer will be here tomorrow.
This glimpse at the trailer from the film’s official twitter page is… something.

Yeah, that looks a little raw right now. The effects don’t look polished and the aesthetic is just a little weird. It looks like the video game in some spots, so there’s that.
Here is the poster to go along with this teaser teaser, which I thought was a Wonder Woman poster at first sight…

Alicia Vikander is still a mystery. Is she a great young actress? After her Oscar win for The Danish Girl, Vikander has been in a staggering eight movies, and I challenge you to name a good one. She looks the part as Lara Croft, sure, but was this a good move for her?
Who knows. Tomb Raider cold turn out to be a brilliant adventure film and the beginning of a solid franchise. Director Roar Uthaug has some work to do cleaning up the rough edges.
Tomb Raider also stars Walton Goggins – which might just make the whole thing worth your time – Hannah John Kamen, Dominic West (okay, this is getting more interesting), and Daniel Wu. It opens March 16 next year.
