On Twitter, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn revealed that the film will be hitting theaters in China on May 5, the same day as in the United States. Attached to the message was a new poster, which you can see below.

This is significant because certain films, including the original Guardians of the Galaxy, don’t release in China until months after other places. With a same day release, less people will have to avoid spoilers online, and it will surely help the film’s box office success.
Plot synopsis: “Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage.
