Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, arguably the two most bankable young stars working today, are officially moving forward in Passengers, a sci-fi romance that has shuffled around Hollywood for almost a decade.
Sony has confirmed the two are attached to the project, which was at one point attached to Keanu Reeves and Rachel MacAdams as the stars. Budget adjustments and the successes of Pratt and Lawrence have undoubtedly pushed this project forward from purgatory.
Here is the synopsis of Passengers:
“Passengers follows a man (Chris Pratt) who finds himself woken ninety years early from cryogenic sleep on board a colony ship partway through its decades long journey through space. Faced with the prospect of spending decades alone he decides to wake up another passenger (Jennifer Lawrence) which sparks a unique romance between the two.”
The premise is certainly intriguing, s is the inclusion of director Morten Tyldum, who will follow up his Oscar nomination for The Imitation Game by stepping behind the camera here. Passengers has potential to be a copelling and thoughtful sci-fi flick. Filming will begin this September.
