As the Fast and Furious franchise continues chugging along, dropping increasingly insane and wholly fascinating entries, they are also managing to secure top-tier star power to accent Vin Diesel and Co. Fast 8 has nabbed Charlize Theron to join the fray.
According to Variety, Charlize Theron has officially joined the eighth (!) entry into one of the most successful franchises in the world. In Furious 7 it was Kurt Russell adding some panache, and now it’s Theron who is playing a villain. That’s about all we know.
It would make sense if she was another Shaw sibling; I can see a resemblance between her and Jason Statham, and let’s make sure Charlize amps up the camp.
F. Gary Gray, fresh off the success of Straight Outta Compton, is taking over in the director’s chair. Fast 8 will hit theaters April 14, 2017.
