‘Batman v. Superman’: Expect to See New Footage “Very Soon”

We are just about four months away from seeing Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and we may not have to wait until the calendar changes to 2016 to see new footage. Fan clamoring for more more ahead of the film’s March release will get another glimpse at the film “certainly before the end of the year,” according to producer Charles Roven in a recent interview.

Roven sat down with Collider to discuss a number of things, from the Warcraft film which got its own trailer last week, to the building buzz of Batman v. Superman. He seems to have the DC company line down at least, citing their intent to produce a director-fueled DC Universe rather than the mass production-line of Marvel. “One of the things that we’re doing when we’re bringing together the DC Justice League Universe,” Roven explained, “is we’re creating not only stories that work for the individual film but they have some resonance to the other films that we’re doing.”

Regarding Batman v. Superman specifically, Roven of course praised the film, saying it’s a “wonderful film.” Take that with a grain of the finest salt you can find. He also said he’d prefer to see a 4-hour version of the film, and to expect an extended version of it some time in the future, presumably on DVD. While the film is still in post-production, and sounds like ti will be for some time now, Roven assured fans there will be new footage before the end of the year: “Honestly, you’re going be seeing something very soon… I don’t know how you define soon but certainly before the end of the year, how about that?”

Do you think we need any new footage of Batman v. Superman beyond the inevitable TV spots? I assume an extended preview may be attached to the Super Bowl as well, so I personally can wait for all that. What are your thoughts?
