‘The Walking Dead’ Casts Jeffrey Dean Morgan As Negan

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been tapped to take on the iconic role of Negan, the f-bomb-dropping dastardly character from Robert Kirkman’s comic series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Walking Dead

Morgan will make his first appearance as Negan in the season finale on April 3, 2016. The Walking Dead crew is filming the season finale next week and according to Ross Marquand the finale will be the most talked about episode ever.

“This is the craziest thing ever. It’s the probably the most emotionally wrought and dark episode I’ve ever read. I’ve never read an episode that is so dark and compelling in my life (…) I had to stop reading this at three different times. It was just messing me up. It is so emotionally dark and twisted,” Marquand.

Marquand used the words ‘Usual Suspects’ to describe the last episode in an interview with ComicBook.com.

Jon Hamm and Kevin Durand’s names were linked to the casting as well.

Negan first appeared in issue 100 of ‘The Walking Dead.’ He is the leader of a group of over 50 survivors in Washington, DC called the Saviors, who subjugate other communities in the area for resources in return for their protection against zombies. The character’s appearance in the comics is based on Henry Rollins, according to series artist Charlie Adlard and Negan’s excessive use of profanity was worked in by Kirkman’s own vernacular and derived from other people he knew.

Mike O’Hearn Is A Frontrunner To Play He-Man In ‘Masters Of The Universe’

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Bodybuilder Mike O’Hearn posted to his Instagram account that he needed to take off 30 pounds to get ready for the ‘He-Man’ movie. O’Hearn then told Matthew Sardo of Monkeys Fighting Robots that he is a frontrunner for the role of He-Man, via Twitter.

“Just for me is that I’ll work to make it happen,” said O’Hearn.

No official announcement has been made at this time.

The only other hints about Masters of the Universe came from DeVon Franklin the VP of Production at Columbia Pictures when he tweeted a picture of Battlecat back in March (see tweet below).

No writer, director, or release date is attached to the project.

Back in August we tagged O’Hearn as one of the TOP 5 ACTORS TO PLAY ‘HE-MAN’ IN A REBOOT.

‘Batman v. Superman’: Expect to See New Footage “Very Soon”

Monkeys Fighting Robots

We are just about four months away from seeing Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and we may not have to wait until the calendar changes to 2016 to see new footage. Fan clamoring for more more ahead of the film’s March release will get another glimpse at the film “certainly before the end of the year,” according to producer Charles Roven in a recent interview.

Roven sat down with Collider to discuss a number of things, from the Warcraft film which got its own trailer last week, to the building buzz of Batman v. Superman. He seems to have the DC company line down at least, citing their intent to produce a director-fueled DC Universe rather than the mass production-line of Marvel. “One of the things that we’re doing when we’re bringing together the DC Justice League Universe,” Roven explained, “is we’re creating not only stories that work for the individual film but they have some resonance to the other films that we’re doing.”

Regarding Batman v. Superman specifically, Roven of course praised the film, saying it’s a “wonderful film.” Take that with a grain of the finest salt you can find. He also said he’d prefer to see a 4-hour version of the film, and to expect an extended version of it some time in the future, presumably on DVD. While the film is still in post-production, and sounds like ti will be for some time now, Roven assured fans there will be new footage before the end of the year: “Honestly, you’re going be seeing something very soon… I don’t know how you define soon but certainly before the end of the year, how about that?”

Do you think we need any new footage of Batman v. Superman beyond the inevitable TV spots? I assume an extended preview may be attached to the Super Bowl as well, so I personally can wait for all that. What are your thoughts?

REVIEW: Shomin Sample ‘Just Friends’ – The girls (awkwardly) get close

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Kimito wakes up to Hakua in his bed. From there the two of them make breakfast before Hakua has to return home. The rest of the girls are jealous of the relationship the two are having and try to bond with Hakua. They feel it’s unsuccessful but Hakua says she was hanging with “just friends” as she leaves. Afterward Reiko and Aika work on their relationship a bit more but it’s far from smooth.

This episode finally showcases more of Eri Hanae, Kimito’s friend who doesn’t exactly live up the squeaky clean idol image she showcases to the public. How bad is she you ask? She actually has a huge ego and is really only angry with Kimito’s disappearance because because she no longer has anyone to boss around. Charming individual isn’t she?

There are also more moments with Hakua getting naked which are unsettling at times. The gag is supposed to be comical but the character looks far too young to be taking any amount of clothes off without administering a feeling of awkwardness which is backed up with a small bit of fear the FBI may bust in any moment and raid your place for what your are watching. There are worse shows out there, even this season which are being far more sexual (*cough* Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid *cough*) but the gag is old after only two episodes and there is still the better part of a season before this show is over. This joke will be driven into the ground by then.

So, the show continues. Again, this is a harem comedy and not one which is going to break any molds with its creativity. Unless of course it turns out to be a romantic comedy which will only happen if the main character picks a girl by the end of the series. Unfortunately, the manga for this show is still running in Japan so that’s probably not going to happen by the end of this season. So, the show trudges forward, leaving pieces of girl’s underwear in its wake.

REVIEW: Young Black Jack ‘In Vietnam: part 2 & 3’ – War is hell

Monkeys Fighting Robots

SPOILER WARNINGS

SUMMARY: Now captives of the Vietcong, Hazama’s group pleads with the Viet cong leader to let them treat a critically injured member. After days go by, their interpreter, Phan, is dragged off to be interrogated. When she finally returns, she has a surprise for them.

This show really makes it a point to showcase just how bad war can get. After getting captured and beaten by the Viet Cong, Hazuma and his team escape and meet up with Yabu. There a medic gets dropped in who performs surgery on the wounded soldier from the previous episode. There is a moment of peace and everything seems like it will work out.

Unfortunately, in the very next episode the patient gets blown up by a landmine, his buddy snaps, and calls in an airstrike while Hazuma and the medic do surgery on the Viet Cong member who gave them the means to escape. If it isn’t abundantly clear by now, this will serve as another reminder to Hazuma about how life is precious and he must do all he can to preserve it. It’s a bit extreme at times but leads to some very powerful scenes.

It’s rather obvious who the white haired medic is for a seasoned Black Jack fan but for those whose first exposure with the character is this show you are probably confused of the significance. The medic is revealed to be Dr. Kiriko, Black Jack’s greatest rival later in his life when Black Jack becomes an unlicenced doctor for hire. Dr. Kiriko like the infamous real life doctor, Jack Kevorkian, deals with helping patience to slip into death so they may be free of his pain. His backstory did talk about him being a medic in Tezuka’s original manga but there was no mention of when the two of them first met.

This show helps to showcase more of the harsh choices which will lead Hazuma down the road to saying “Screw the rules” more than Dr. Gregory House (who actually had a brief crossover commercial with Black Jack together while promoting the Japanese release of House. Click the link below to see it). The moment where Hazuma insists he will stay and operate despite the fact the airstrike is coming seems to be another crystallizing moment showcasing where he is going in his life. Just wish more people knew of just how great this is.

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Ross Marquand, who plays Aaron on AMC’s The Walking Dead, spoke with ComicBook.com about when fans will find out what happened to Glenn. It looks like fans won’t have to wait long to get answers.
