Olivia Munn and The CW are developing a new series based on a female sportscaster set in 1974, according to The Wrap.

The CW has put into development an untitled drama project which is set in 1974, and follows a young journalist who gets hired by an ambitious NY News programming chief as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters, and has to learn to navigate gender politics in front of and behind the camera at a time when women were literally not even allowed in the press box. – The Wrap

The sad news is Munn, who shredded the dialogue in Newsroom is not expected to star in the new series. Munn will serve as executive producer with Stacia Peters, and Ted Humphrey. Writing duties fall to Humphrey as well.
