Additionally, a fan complimented Mangold on the creative approach he took with Logan. Mangold said,
“I’m grateful to the studio for trusting us and giving RealHughJackman and I so much freedom to make this film.”

After Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy stated that we’d see the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi in Spring, fans have been eagerly anticipating an announcement of some sort. On the topic, Star Wars News Net might have a scoop to tide over fans a bit longer.
According to the outlet, the first teaser for the film will include nearly all the main characters you would expect to see; Luke, Leia, Finn, and Rey were included in the tweet they released.
There are rumors that Luke will not be in the first #TheLastJedi teaser. We heard the contrary. Luke, Leia, Finn and Rey will be there…
The idea that marketing for this movie won’t include Luke is just nonsense. He was absent from The Force Awakens’ trailers and promotional material, but there’s no way the character won’t appear in the trailers for Episode VIII.
As with all rumors, take this with a grain of salt. If anything was proven by The Force Awakens’ marketing it’s that Lucasfilm takes unique, yet effective, approaches to their film pushes.
What are your thoughts on this interesting bit of information? Is there any way Luke doesn’t show up in the film’s first teaser? Let us know in the comments below!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues the story established in 2015’s The Force Awakens. The cast includes Daisey Ridley, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Benicio Del Toro, Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, and Domhnall Gleeson.
Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer let slip some more details regarding the future of the show when speaking to Entertainment Weekly, “Everything changes as we move forward so we’ll see” he says.
His brother (and co-creator) Matt Duffer adds:
I want it to have a really finite ending. I don’t want it to be one of those shows that runs out of gas and they lose it because they’re losing interest. You wanna end when you’re on top.
Ross additionally says:
Hopefully you’ll come to the end of season 2 and feel fully satisfied and want more but you’ll feel like it has come to a conclusion. But also we’ve laid the ground work for further seasons.
It definitely seems like Season Two is a big part of the story we have already seen. The creators’ comments make it seem like perhaps these two seasons will serve as one tightly connected story, only to leave us with a bigger universe created. Either way, it’s exciting news! Tell us what you guys think and leave us some comments below.
Stranger Things was created by the Duffer Brothers. Itis written and directed by Matt and Ross Duffer and executive-produced by Shawn Levy.

Cinema is 127 years old, and throughout its history, there have been hundreds, if not thousands, of great flicks. Many great films of the modern era feature actors like Will Smith, Denzel Washington, and the beloved Samuel L. Jackson. It’s easy to take for granted that those actors, among many, others, are African-Americans who are part of black history; a long story of struggle and perseverance.
When movies began, circa 1890, African-Americans had only been allowed to vote for 15 years. In 1906, when The Kelley Gang became the first feature-length film, poll taxes and literacy tests kept most poor, primarily black citizens from voting. In the 1920s, the Harlem Renaissance exposed black culture like never before while sound revolutionized film. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s was the first time the struggle of African-Americans would be broadcast to a television audience en mass. In 1966, the first interracial kiss occurred on camera during an episode of Star Trek.
During the 70s, 80s, and 90s, hip-hop, Eddie Murphy, and Will Smith among so many others changed the mainstream for the better. But while there’s a long way to go for true equality in America, stories of black history will carry on to remind people of how long a fight it’s been.
This week in Black History Month we look at ten films about Black History from the last 17 years.
10. Through a Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People – 2014
What better way to end a celebration of films about black history than a documentary about the history of African-American photographers. After all, films are nothing more than pictures passing by your eye-holes at 24 FPS. Through A Lens Darkly is a touching look at the beauty of African-American people in photos, but also a stark reminder of the horrors many of those beautiful faces have witnessed.
Jeremy Saulnier, the fantastic new filmmaker responsible for bringing us both Blue Ruin and Green Room, will release his next film, Hold the Dark, on Netflix. And now he has Jeffrey Wright on board.
Here is a brief synopsis of William Giraldi’s novel of the same name:
The story revolves around a child taken from his village by a pack of wolves and an expert hunter is called in to track them down and kill them. He finds himself confronting not only the cruelty of Mother nature but also his own failings. As the child’s grief-crazed father follows behind him, it becomes unclear who is really being hunted.
So that sounds great, especially for Saulnier and his dark sensibilities.
The Playlist broke the news of Jeffrey Wright’s involvement. He will join an impressive cast of Riley Keough, Alexander Skarsgard, and James Badge Dale, who pretty much improves every movie he’s in. Of course, the same can be said for Jeffrey Wright, who was arguably the best part of HBO’s Westworld.
We won’t be seeing Hold the Dark until some time in 2018, but given the early news of its existence, we can at least hold out hope that it’s early next year. Stay tuned.
The Best Picture Oscar winners from the 1990s were a strong rebound from the hit-and-miss 80s. And much like the 1970s winners, several of these films have stood the test of time, and many are pure classics. There are some heavy hitters here, especially in the early years.
That being said, the 1990s may be most well known for the nominated films that didn’t win Best Picture. If you look up and down the decade, there are so many years where the better picture (subjectively, of course) was nominated but ultimately lost out on Oscar night. It happens, but don’t worry, you can still love those movies implicitly.
It’s hard to fathom, in these days of overcrowded Novembers and Decembers where studios cram all their awards hopefuls into a few weeks, that The Silence of The Lambs opened in February. FEBRUARY! Jonathan Demme’s haunting thriller is a near perfect film, with a trio of incredible performances from Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, and Ted Levine as the disturbed skin-suit designer Buffalo Bill. Lambs is filmed with an immediacy, with directness and sometimes an unsettling lack of the fourth wall barrier (actors look right into our eyes) making it all the more intrusive for the audience. It was the last film to win The Big Five – Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Screenplay – and it has only gotten better with every passing year.
After a long hiatus, The Walking Dead has returned. The first half of the season covered the introduction of Negan, the series’ new antagonist. The show spent a lot of time covering just how evil Negan is this year. Now, after watching the group suffer under his rule, they’re finally taking a stand. “Rock in the Road” doesn’t have a LOTof action, mind you. However, it does kick off the change that could make The Walking Dead flourish again.
Kicking off Rick’s stand is, of course, bringing the world together. Rick tries negotiating with Gregory and Ezekiel – with, predictably, little success. Gregory is still a selfish whiner, adverse to the idea of taking a stand. Ezekiel is a proponent of peace, hoping to keep his deal with the Saviors. Ezekiel is a lot like Morgan in this regard – Morgan, who also dislikes the idea of a stand. Thankfully, while the leaders seem fearful, their subjects do not. Even with the repetitive avoidance on conflict on their part, Rick is becoming a driving force for action again.
It’s a bit of a bummer to see the gang splintered again. Now that the gang is uniting, the squad splitting up once more feels repetitive. Obviously, it isn’t a huge split. As one group heads back to The Hilltop, the other group tries to follow the newly elusive Gabriel. It’s probably not a split that will last as long as the solo outings from earlier this season. But The Walking Dead has always had problems dedicating whole episodes to side characters. Hopefully, the conflict with Negan won’t lead to a lot of separated group episodes.
The cliffhanger ending is an odd mix of promising and worrisome. On the one hand, it’s very likely Rick has found his army. All these new people could give the gang their much-needed force. However, all these new people would hint at a new colony to care about. While the show does need more action, it doesn’t need yet another survivor community. We already have Alexandria, The Hilltop, The Kingdom, and whatever that all-lady community was called.
This episode isn’t the strongest episode for action or character development. However, it does hint at a change that could make for a strong latter half of the season. The gang is actually fighting for something, meaning there’s something to look forward to. Carol’s found a good line of capable badass and careful isolationist. There’s not much zombie fighting, but the zombie trip-wiring is pretty amusing. There’s bound to be more deaths, as well. That Aaron-husband chat hints that Aaron may be up at bat next.
Speaking of, this is one of the only season 7 episodes that doesn’t rely entirely on Negan’s villainy to drive it. That’s the part of The Walking Dead’s return that I find most exciting. Negan brought life back to the show, but he quickly became a crutch for the series. Now it looks like the creative team, much like the protagonists, are finally ready to take back what’s theirs.
Greg Nicotero Knows How To Make Zombie Horror Fans Very Happy!
It seems like ‘The Walking Dead‘ and George Romero is a match made in heaven…or hell. Makeup artist, director, and producer Greg Nicotero keeps finding ways to place homages to zombie king into the show. The latest one is a personal favorite.
On the new episode of the hit AMC show, Nicotero featured an iconic zombie from ‘Day of The Dead‘. His name is Dr. Tongue and he has a bit of a cult following!
The appearance of Dr. Tongue was teased months ago on Nicotero’s Instagram so I’m glad to finally see him make an appearance! He’s the first zombie to appear on-screen in ‘Day of the Dead‘ and became a mascot for the underrated George Romero film.
Greg Nicotero got his start working with Romero and makeup icon Tom Savini on ‘Day of The Dead‘ so it’s awesome to his work come full circle. This isn’t the first time Nicotero has references the film as he also featured a zombie known as “Bub” before.
What other famous zombies do you think we can see on the show?
Let me know in the comments below if you caught this throwback Romero homage!
‘The Walking Dead’ airs Sunday nights at 9pm on AMC.
