Check out the ‘Wet Hot American Summer – Ten Years Later’ Trailer!

Monkeys Fighting Robots

The gang’s all here — and then some! Check out the the trailer for Wet Hot American Summer – Ten Years Later:

Let’s get the timeline in order. In 2001, former State members David Wain and Michael Showalter made Wet Hot American Summer, an over-the-top comedy set during the last day at a sleep away summer camp in 1981. The feature starred then lesser known talent such as Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and Elizabeth Banks, among many others. Though all were roughly 30 years of age at the time, they were playing teenage counselors at the summer camp. While it wasn’t a critical or box office darling at the time of its release, the flick garnered a tremendous cult following on DVD.

Cut to 14 years later – the aforementioned actors are among the biggest stars on the planet. Wain and Showalter are able to bring EVERYONE back for an eight-episode prequel series on Netflix entitled Wet Hot American Summer – First Day of CampThe cast is now in their 40s, yet still playing the same age as they did in the original flick.

As promised at the end of the original movie, Ten Years Later, shows (most of) the original cast, now in their “20s,” reuniting to see what kind of people they have blossomed into. As the trailer suggests – hilarity is bound to ensue.

Netflix will premiere all eight episodes of Wet Hot American Summer – Ten Years Later on August 4.

Coloring with Lil BUB “The Most Amazing Cat On The Planet”

Monkeys Fighting Robots

If you thought Grumpy Cat was the only real life Garfield around then you would be wrong. Because there’s another adorable feline looking to purr its way into our hearts and for some it’s already done so. Lil BUB is her name and she’s getting her own coloring book from Dabel Brothers Publishing and Space Goat Productions. The coloring book will be titled the life of Lil BUB.

“With our love of cats here at Space Goat, plus the fact that the sale of every book benefits charity, this partnership was really a no-brainer,” said Shon Bury, Publisher of Space Goat Productions. “With Dabel Brothers’ reputation for producing high-quality content, we were so excited when they brought us in to team up on this project.”

In case you wanted to know who Lil BUB is or just some more about her. I grabbed this bit of info from her website. Lil BUB is a very special, one of a kind critter. More specifically, she is the most amazing cat on the planet. Discovered as the runt of a healthy feral litter in a tool shed in rural Indiana, she was taken in as a rescue when it was clear that she would require special care. Born with a rare bone condition that made it almost impossible to walk within the first year of her life, Lil BUB overcame her physical disabilities and turned them into a mission of love and positivity. Since then, BUB has overcome great challenges, is a published author, a talk show host, a movie star, and has helped raise well over $300,000 for animals in need. Today Lil BUB has more than 2 million followers on Facebook and 1.5 million Instagram followers.

How can you not love that?

According to Dabel Brothers and Space Goat this will be the first in a series of Lil BUB coloring books and will be available exclusively at her online store for $15. As Shon Bury mentioned. A portion of the proceeds from every Lil BUB coloring book will be donated to charity.

“We’ve been watching Lil Bub’s videos for a couple years now and just knew we needed to figure out a way to get involved,” said Derek Ruiz, Publisher of Dabel Brothers Publishing. “The ideas keep flowing and we look forward to a long relationship with Bub and her dude. This is the perfect birthday gift for Lil Bub.”

If I were you Grumpy Cat I would watch out because it looks like Lil BUB has teamed up with two fantastic publishers to knock you off your throne. May the best cat win.

A ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Movie Is Coming Out In 2019

Monkeys Fighting Robots

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sega’s Mike Evans talked about Sega Forever. However, included in the interview with a bit of information about Sonic The Hedgehog‘s new feature film.

“Nostalgia is actually very much in vogue, which is one the reasons we’ve been chasing it down. Everything Nintendo has been doing has been driving big waves in nostalgia, they’ve done some amazing things and they had a lot of success with the classic NES. There is a film and documentary coming out about retro gaming called Console Wars. We also have a Sonic movie coming in 2019.”

This film was announced years ago, but it seems like development stalled. Now, with Sega’s attempted comeback on the horizon, the company is going all out and likely working hard on the movie.

Season Five Of ‘House Of Cards’ Proves To Be A Mixed Bag As It Struggles To Compete With Reality

Monkeys Fighting Robots

When House of Cards, an adaptation of the BBC miniseries of the same name, debuted for the in February 2013, it was nothing short of groundbreaking. As Netfilx’s first produced series, it truly showed that streaming services could and should be taken seriously when it comes to original content. Its first season redefined how television is produced and distributed, and led by Kevin Spacey’s truly incredible lead performance, went on to garner critical acclaim and become Netflix’s flagship series.

As the show continued over the years, the drama continued to be ratcheted up and the incomparable Robin Wright’s role was deepened. (The writers and producers clearly knew what a rare talent they had on their hands with her casting!) The series itself, however, became a little repetitive. It became slightly more safe and predictable with each passing year, and in some regards, strayed a little farther from reality in its storytelling. (An example of this? The fact that Frank and Claire underwood ran for the White House as running mates in season four – something that would most likely never fly in modern America.) Nevertheless, despite all of this, House of Cards has always remained an intelligent, biting commentary on Washington politics.

This all remains true of the show in season five. Spacey and Wright bring their A-games once more, and it’s still a sharply written critique of political dealings in America. It is, however, as unsurprising as ever and, dare I say, boring.

‘The Mist’ – Meet The Characters

Monkeys Fighting Robots

‘The Mist’ will descend upon Bridgeville this evening for the first time. In preparation for the ten episode season, Spike TV have released a library of character videos.

‘The Mist’ will focus on the small town of Bridgeville who must survive the horrors lurking in the mist. Drawing inspiration from the Stephen King novella and 2007 movie of the same name, the series will focus on larger events in Bridgeville rather than a retelling of the movie.

The Characters

Alyssa Sutherland  has the following to say of her character “She’s willing to do whatever she needs to do.” Eve is an overprotective mother, who’s concerned her daughter will repeat her past mistakes. She is disliked by the majority of the town for a sex education class at the local school. Stranded in the shopping center with her daughter, Eve will be forced to make hard decisions to keep those close to her safe.

Kevin Copeland

A devoted father and husband, Kevin will be separated from his family when the mist descends.  A former journalist, Kevin has one goal only – find and protect his family. Morgan Spector warns, “there isn’t anything he wouldn’t give to get to them.”

Nathalie Raven

Frances Conroy will be breathing life into the mysterious Nathalie Raven. A nature-loving woman who is a neighbor to the Copeland’s. When the mist rolls into Bridgeville, she will seek solace in the church. She believes that nature has turned on humanity and released the malevolent mist into town.

Adrian Garft

Town misfit and close friend to Alex Copeland (Gus Birney). He see’s Kevin as the father he’s always wanted and is stranded with him at the start of the show. Russel Posner has the following to say about Adrian, “He’s at home in the chaos.”.

Bryan Hunt

Okezie Morro will play amnesic solder Bryan Hunt. “He needs something to hold onto” Okezie says of his character. The trailer doesn’t go into a lot of depth about Brian, but considering the links to the military from the novella and movie, it’ll be interesting to see how his story plays out.

Gus Bradley

Isiah Whitlock Jr will be playing Gus Bradley. Mall manager, he will be trapped with  Eve and her daughter. Seizing upon the opportunity to rule it appears that Gus will rule the mall with a strict rule code – which doesn’t appear to go down well with Eve.

With all the promo’s and an unforgettable movie to build upon ‘The Mist’ looks like a promising series. As a fan of both the novella and film, I’m going to look forward to seeing how Christian Torpe builds on the mythos laid down by Frank Darabon.

Will you be tuning into ‘The Mist’ when it airs tomorrow at 9 pm on Spike TV? Who do you think will make it to the end of the season? Sound off in the comments below.
