Hollywood Clip Show

Dee Wits

Christmas Movie Special

We probably shouldn’t win but I do think people will enjoy our show if they knew about it. We play the hottest Hollywood movie clips (allegedly) and interview the stars! (also allegedly) in our sketch comedy podcast.

How Do You Engineer?

Peter Martin

Episode 10 – How Do You Engineer The Impossible?

Imagine that you are at a holiday wine and cheese party (or kegger…you do you). Many of the people around you could be engineers, and could have fascinating stories to tell about the projects they have worked on, the technologies that they use, and the engineering that goes into the modern world. Unfortunately, conversations with engineers can sometimes be…well…awkward.

What we (try) to do with How Do You Engineer? is tell the stories of engineers and engineering in an interesting and engaging way to shed some light on the dark corners of modern technology. By solving problems, defining terms, talking to engineers from around the world and sometimes going back in time, we hope to teach our listeners a little about how you engineer.

The episode that we chose to submit features an interview with a friend of the show Victor Ragusila who has been working with Aerovelo to push the boundaries of what is humanly possible. In their pursuit of extreme efficiency, the team has created the first successful human powered helicopter, the fastest human powered vehicle, and the world’s first human powered ornithopter. This is only one of a few types of episodes that we do, but we believe it exemplifies our approach to podcasting.

Hoya! The Warrior Way Podcast

Elijah Bailey

Hoya! The Warrior Way Podcast is a podcast that explores the scope of all types of warriors from the minds of two martial artist who are at different stages of their journey and training. Emily Stengel and Elijah Bailey bring you the warrior mindset in a Wild Bunch way, each episode focuses on a different aspect of helping one achieve the warrior mindset and lifestyle. Episodes vary from interviews with warriors in the military, martial artist, law enforcement and those that use the warrior mentality in their daily life. I think Hoya! The Warrior Way should win the 2016 amateur podcast championships because this motivational podcast keeps the conversation real and gets down to the bare bones of issues in today’s society from traditional martial arts vs. MMA, going to war, researching ancient cultures, the quality of life for today’s average person and health/fitness trends. This show is something different then any other podcast in its genre, listen in and become apart of the Wild Bunch family, Hoya!

Hungry for Laughs!

Charles Schlaudraff

My podcast is completely within the spirit of amateurism! I researched how to record it, came up with the format, and had a family member and co-worker create the logo. Of course the content is free, because let’s face it, who would pay for it? But seriously, I do not expect to ever make a penny from this little podcast of mine. I do, however, have and expect to continue to have a great deal of fun recording and posting regular semimonthly episodes of this little podcast of mine. Every guest has said it was great fun recording his or her episode, and the free meal or gift card afterword probably doesn’t hurt. Fellow podcasters have been simply wonderful in their support, and I do the best I can to support them in return. It’s been over a year since I’ve posted my first episode and this hobby/project/endeavor has taught me plenty! The tech skills I’ve gained and knowledge I’ve acquired doing research for each episode has been fulfilling and might have even impressed some folks. Well that might be a stretch, but it certainly has been fulfilling. I put the podcast in the “comedy” category for a couple reasons. One reason being its episodes can be about just about anything, which makes it hard to categorize. Another reason is, I think there is humor in it, especially when the host, I, make a stupid observation about a topic I don’t much about. I expect to continue for as long as I can because 2016 has been a great year for my podcast since I recorded over-the-phone for the first time and several more times, had more than one guest in an episode, and recorded an episode outside my home “studio.” For these reasons, I think my podcast should win the 2016 Amateur Podcast Championships! Oh and, always be hungry for laughs!

In The Name Of god – The Podcast

Mathew Giltner

No one else is maintaining a consistant news feed documenting the crimes committed by the religious. A severely underreported segment of current events.

Krillin It with Dani and Ify

Elijah Bailey

Nimbus Speed w/ Jeff & De Mauriea

I think that Dani Fernandez and Ify Nwadiwe bring a unique perspective to not only the topic of their show (Dragonball Z) but to the anime/comedy/film industry. They sit down each week with others that have had a hand in DBZ in some way to talk about the episode they watch and their love for the show throughout their lives and give insight never heard before. The Krillin It Podcast deserves to win the 2016 championships because they are trying to create a more diverse show by hearing from all demographics and cultures of how they got into Dragonball Z. Dani Fernandez a half Hispanic and half white writer/comedian/show host brings the feminist perspective to a show that was primarily persevered to be for only males. Ify Nwadiwe a Nigerian comedian/writer/show host brings his perspective of being a black nerd and how the world viewed him loving this Japanese medium. This show resonates with those that listen to it and brings back that Nostalgia from the first time you watch the show and if you’re new to DBZ then you’ll find a home here.

Littlegeeklost

Mandy Osipenko

Littlegeeklost Pod # 70 – Year End 2016

I started my podcast as a geek lost in the world online, trying to find my place, and dumping my brain out along the way. I found my place in podcasting, and continue to grow with each episode. I have funny guests that range from other podcasters to my best friend, and I also do solo personal pods on topics like my hometown and B movies. I like to have fun and go with the flow, and I never know where my pods will take me. I aim to cover geek topics as well as main stream, with some obscure thrown in along the way.

Living Unconventionally

Britany Felix

I interview people who are traveling the world while chasing their passions and, not only are the stories entertaining, but they are inspiring and motivating my listeners to make major changes with the help of the resources provided. In a sense, the Living Unconventionally is literally changing lives and that’s a very powerful thing that I am extremely thankful I get to be a part of.

Loco Gringo Mexico

Kay Walten

Why should we win?

It is not a win for us, its a win for the people of Mexico who make up the fabric of an incredible place.

Our podcast LocoGringo Mexico is an advocate for change of perception and experience through story telling. Its about people their lives’ journey and their passion for that they do and Mexico. Mexico is more than you read read about in a guide book, the newspaper, or review sites.

Our podcast is to spotlight ordinary people who have extraordinary stories and local insights to share.

This is the first English podcast of its kind that is talking to real people in Mexico. The people featured are not only Mexicans, but people from around the world, many who have immigrated to Mexico and built their life around this Latin American country and love it.

A win of the championship is a win for the listeners. They gain insights a local-view of places, people, activities, culture, food and history of the Cancun, Riviera Maya and Yucatan Peninsula. People can visit Caribbean and experience the area at a more personal level than the typical tourist.

(There may be people in the world who want to build a wall, but we want to break down barriers and introduce people to an amazing place, culture and people.)
