A second more detailed trailer for David O. Russell’s latest, Joy, has been released. It gives us more details, more exuberant flourishes, and more David O. Russell than anyone should be able to stand.

JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. It looks interesting, just like all of David O. Russell’s films, and I will forever support Silver Linings Playbook. That being said, Joy looks like it could be a crossroads for the filmmaker, either heightening his auteurism or sending him into the deep end of self parody.
Joy hits theaters this Christmas.
