‘Justice League’ Star Ciarán Hinds Briefly Talks Steppenwolf’s Villainous Plans And Playing The CGI Baddie

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Recently, DCEU fans were treated to their first glimpse of Justice League’s villain Steppenwolf via images of a LEGO set and an action figure from the upcoming movie’s toy line. Despite this, and despite the fact that the movie is a little over four months away, we still know very little about what the character’s role in the DC Films’ team-up movie will be. Luckily for us, however, the actor cast in the role, Ciarán Hinds, recently talked briefly about the part in an interview on BBC Radio’s The Michael Ball Show.

Is Wonder Woman Taking on the Soviet Russians in the 1980s?

Monkeys Fighting Robots

A mere five weeks after its release, Wonder Woman is still a tour de force in the box office, recently surpassing Suicide Squad’s earnings. Though director Patty Jenkins has not yet officially signed on, she is supposedly working on a story with Geoff Johns. It looks as though Princess Diana of Themyscira will be seen at heart of another major global conflict – the Cold War.

According to Screen RantWonder Woman 2 may be another period piece, as opposed to the present day DCEU, in the aftermath of the forthcoming Justice League flicks. Set during the 1980s, the film will send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War.

Screen Rant is also reporting that Chris Pine will reprise his role as Steve Trevor. Given the events of the first Wonder Woman movie, discussions will be had as to how he will return.

What are your thoughts on a 1980s setting for the Wonder Woman sequel? How will they bring back Steve Trevor? Let’s discuss!

A Comic-Con Exclusive Shows Future of ‘IDW’ Comics

Monkeys Fighting Robots

The recently announced San Diego Comic-Con exclusive is a set called Revolution. The set is meant to reflect the comic book event of the same name which brought many Hasbro properties together into one interconnected storytelling universe. The box will include Jetfire of the Transformers, Ian Noble from Action Man, Roadblock of G.I. Joe, Matt Trakker of M.A.S.K., Rom the Space Knight (from the series of the same name), miniature figure versions of the Micronauts, and a Dire Wraith, the alien race from Rom. What is interesting is the inclusion of another Hasbro property to the mix which currently doesn’t have a comic running from the publisher. This figure is Leoric of the Visionaries, a lost franchise Hasbro still owns the rights too. This helps to confirm rumors Visionaries will be coming to IDW as a comic series and will part of the Hasbro Universe.

Visionaries was a cartoon series with a line of figures and a short-lived comic which focused on characters who could use magical light to transform into animals. The toyline used holograms to take recreate this effect and the series has kept a small following over the years since it was abandoned by Hasbro. The figure will be the first one released for the series in years.

First Critical Reactions to Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ Hit the Web

Monkeys Fighting Robots

We are les than two weeks away from Christopher Nolan’s WWII drama Dunkirk hitting theaters, so that means it’s time for the early critical reactions. They came out today, and oh boy does this movie sound better than probably many expected.

Collider Frosty seems to be pleased with what he saw, claiming the film is “edge of your seat filmmaking :unlike anything he has ever seen. High praise. But wait, there’s more…

Of course, as with any film, see it for yourself and draw your own conclusions. But this should be a great sign for Nolan fans and for anyone who, like me, was left cold by the trailers to this point.

Not that Dunkirk looks bad, not by any means. But there is a cold detachment to the trailers, and it appears now that is simply Nolan keeping the truly impactful bits of storytelling under wraps. Most of the time, when reactions hit the internet, there are a handful of mediocre reactions to even the most celebrated films. This looks to be overwhelmingly positive from top to bottom, which is an
even greater sign.

I love some of these descriptions, mainly that there are large stretches of the film without dialogue. This speaks to me… pardon the pun.

Dunkirk will be released July 21, and over 130 theaters across the country will have it in 70 mm. It definitely sounds like you need to see it in this format if you can.

The Team is Back Together in First ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ Photo

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Filming for Mission: Impossible 6 is currently underway, and now we have the first set photo/production still from the movie, courtesy of Tom Cruise.

Cruise tweeted this photo yesterday afternoon, showing his Ethan Hunt character alongside Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson. No Jeremy Renner, who won’y be back this time:

Nothing too groundbreaking here, but it’s worth noting that Ethan Hunt has gone back to the short hair, a la M:I 1 and 3. I don’t know, is that worth noting?

New Zealand marks the third location for Mission: Impossible 6. They have already filmed scenes in Paris, and they are headed to London. Christopher McQuarrie is back in the director’s chair, making this the first time the franchise will have a filmmaker returning for a second go round.

When Mission: Impossible 6 opens July 27, 2018, it will of course have a different name. The series really has rebounded after the second film, which is trash and could have ruined the franchise for good. But thankfully, J.J. Abrams stepped in and fixed a few things before Brad Bird took things to a different level with Ghost Protocol. And Rogue Nation might be the best one yet.

Joining Cruise and the team is once again, Alec Baldwin. Michelle Monaghan also returns to the franchise after being away since M:I 3. Are you excited for a sixth film, or has the franchise run its course?
