Entertainment Weekly has released a batch of brand new Avengers: Infinity War magazine covers. The new images give fans a slew of new information, including some interesting design changes for key characters. Check them out below.
Which cover is your favorite? I can’t choose just one, but two that stand out to me are the ones featuring Spider-Man and Thanos. Spider-Man’s new suit looks fantastic, and the effects done on Josh Brolin’s Thanos are just stellar. Overall, the covers are all well done and definitely get me even more excited for the film.
Marvel Studios’ marketing in magazines, online, and other forms of media has never been great, but Infinity War has been handled adequately thus far. I feel as though posters and other forms of visual marketing for past films always fell flat with audiences, but hopefully these covers will stand out to fans.
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.”
Avengers: Infinity War features Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as Thanos.
Avengers: Infinity War releases on April 27. Are you looking forward to the movie? Which character are you most excited to see? Comment below, let us know.
The latest initiative by DC Entertainment will tab some of the most-talented and well-known creators and pair them with some of its most-important characters in ways we have yet to see.
“Many of our perennially best-selling, critically acclaimed books were produced when we unleashed our top talent on standalone, often out-of-continuity projects featuring our most iconic characters, a prime example being Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns,” DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee said. “Creating DC Black Label doubles down on our commitment to working with all-star talent and trusting them to tell epic, moving stories that only they can tell with the highest levels of creative freedom.”
Miller was mentioned for a reason, as he will take on his first-ever Superman project for the imprint, Superman: Year One, in conjunction with John Romita Jr., who will be drawing the book. Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo will once again be teaming to take on Batman: Damned, while Kelly Sue DeConnick will partner with Phil Jimenez to recreate Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons.
Each of the DC Black Label titles will be released in a format with a schedule dictated by its creators, and all will take place outside of the DC Universe canon.
Check out all the incoming Black Label books via DC’s official synopses below.

THE OTHER HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE
A compelling literary series analyzing iconic DC moments and charting sociopolitical gains through the perspectives of DC Super Heroes who come from traditionally disenfranchised groups, including John Stewart, Extraño, Vixen, Supergirl, Katana and Rene Montoya, among others. At its core, the story focuses on the lives of those behind the costumes, and their endeavors to overcome real-world issues. It isn’t about saving the world, it’s about having the strength to simply be who you are.

Dan Slott’s decade on Amazing Spider-Man comes to an end in July. He’s making an effort to set things right with Spidey fans before he goes.
***SPOILERS LIE AHEAD***
Dan Slott is doing a lot right with this arc, at least at the start. It’s been a long time since Norman Osborn was a simple madman. From his years running the Thunderbolts, heading H.A.M.M.E.R., being an American hero following Secret Invasion, the founding the Dark Avengers, the Goblin War during Superior Spider-Man, and all the international nonsense that was going on while Peter did his best Tony Stark impression a year ago.
While these stories and eras were a lot of fun for the most part, it’s exciting to see Norman getting simplified and donning some green and purple once again. Dan Slott and Brian Michael Bendis had taken Osborn on some crazy adventures over the years, but both gentleman have moved on (Bendis leaving Marvel and Slott moving to Iron Man).
Slott has also found a legitimately awesome use for a symbiote. These days you can’t go two weeks without somebody in the 616 Universe getting “venom-ized” in one way or another.
Combining Norman with the Carnage symbiote, creating the Red Goblin, is some classic and ridiculous comic book fun. This collaboration of pure evil is more like a dream fan scenario and less of going through the motions like recent Amazing Spider-Man symbiote stories have felt.
Another major thing that Dan Slott is giving to Spidey fans before he takes his leave is reigniting a spark between Peter and MJ. They aren’t completely reunited like most of us are dying for, but at least there’s life for the first time in a long time.
In this week’s ASM #797 the two share a kiss, but then Mary Jane explains that she doesn’t want to go through the pain of dating a superhero again. Also, Norman Osborn spots Spidey leaving the Watson residence so we’ll clearly be revisiting this scene again soon.
Dan Slott’s body of Spider-Man work has been a point of division for comic book fans for a decade now. As we approach the end of his tenure, the grand finale could swing people on both sides of the fence. When Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley take over Amazing Spider-Man in July, they’re going to be taking over a Spidey title in good standing.
Slott’s epic farewell should provide the new creative team with their own “Fresh Start.”
The heavy metal masterpiece from Daniel Warren Johnson, Extremity, reaches its twelfth and final issue.
***SPOILERS LIE AHEAD***
Thea and her new tribe race to stop the Paznina and Roto from destroying each other. Along the way, she loses her brother Rollo. Despite a wasted effort trying to get through to their father, Rollo’s death achieves what they set out to accomplish. The new Queen of Paznina witnesses Thea’s loss and decides to stop the violence.
Daniel Warren Johnson has taken us on quite a journey through twelve issues. Thea and Rollo’s arcs have been satisfying and fully formed. This final issue, as well as the series itself, took us through twists and turns and tugged at our heart strings.
The only thing I feel we get short changed on is Thea and Rollo’s asshole father. There’s no redemption or examination of any sort. He watches one of his children die in front of him, exacts revenge, then we never see him again. It doesn’t derail the story at all, it’s just one of the stories in which there’s clearly more to explore.
Everything about Extremity is iconic, epic, and beautiful. Grand layouts and design concepts, brutal action, fully fleshed out characters fill every page. Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer have put on a stunning show for twelve issues. Rus Wooten is one of the best letterers in the business and this is one of his most pronounced bodies of work. The sound effects and letters are as crucial to these gorgeous pages as the ships and creatures are.
It’s sad to see this series go. While it’s a pretty satisfying ending, it feels like DWJ could stay in this world forever and has plenty of story left to tell. Hopefully that means he’ll be getting a new series sometime soon. He’s a strong comic book talent that shouldn’t be sitting on the shelf for long.
Extremity started as a brutal and tragic sci-fi war epic. It ended up having a lot more to say about family, tradition, and purpose. This is a limited series that shouldn’t be soon forgotten. Keep an eye out for anything Daniel Warren Johnson works on in any medium.
Another month, and another issue of Greg Pak’s creator-owned property Mech Cadet Yu is released by Boom! Studios. How do you follow up an ending as jaw dropping as the one in the previous issue?
Yu and the rest of the cadets head to a new base in hopes of finding a new plan to stop the alien invasion.
Writing
After the events of the previous issue, the team has no choice but to relocate. After receiving such a devastating blow, Yu and his friends deserve to find a bit of hope in this war against aliens. As they arrive at the main headquarters of the Earth forces, Yu and Park soon discover a new weapon which will turn the tide. Unfortunately, they also quickly discover this new solution doesn’t come without a heavy cost.
Greg Pak seems to know exactly what needs to happen when you tell a story with giant robots. It can’t always be constant fight scenes, there also has to be moments where you show just how much the robots and their pilots mean to one another. This helps to show the bond which is formed between the characters and their machine. Pak hammers in the emotion by showing what happens when this bond is challenged which serves to not only advance the story but allow for some intense moments.
Artwork
Once again Takeshi Miyazawa’s artwork finds a way to mess perfectly with Greg Pak’s story and deliver some intense moments. A certain scene in particular would not have been as hard hitting if not for Miyazawa’s being able to perfectly capture the pain on the characters face.
Thanks to Triona Farrell, the coloring not only helps with the impactful visuals but also helps to nail the sensations which are taking place in each scene. The effect work on the holographic display for the alien mother ship lands perfectly with Farrell’s color work.
The lettering by Simon Bowland harnesses the emotional impact of the pain and drama so it all hits home. The different style between the humans and robot speech is made noticeable but not in a way which makes them feel inhuman.
Conclusion
This issue serves as a great jumping on point and will also help to showcase why Mech Cadet Yu was one of the best books to come out of 2017. Pick it up and see for yourself what you are missing out on.
It seems like it was only yesterday the seventh film based on John Carpenter’s creation, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later entered our lives and introduced us to Josh Hartnett.
Hartnett played Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) son John.
Plot of H20: On Halloween in 1963, Michael Myers murdered his sister, Judith. In 1978, he broke out to kill his other sister, Laurie Strode. He killed all of her friends, but she escaped. A few years later, she faked her death so he couldn’t find her. But now, in 1998, Michael has returned and found all the papers he needs to find her. He tracks her down to a private school where she has gone under a new name with her son, John. And now, Laurie must do what she should have done a long time ago and finally decided to hunt down the evil one last time.
Halloween H20 also featured Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michelle Williams, and LL Cool J.
Hartnett’s star soared in the early part the of the 2000s with Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, Sin City, and 30 Days Of Night. He has since shifted his focus away from the big blockbusters and has worked with ten first time directors. We spoke with Hartnett about his latest project Oh Lucy!, but everyone on social media wanted to know if he had a part and or cameo in Danny McBride’s new Halloween coming out in October of this year. Sadly, we got an answer.
“They haven’t asked me to be a part of it. So no, I have no cameo in the new film,” said Hartnett.
You can listen to the rest of the interview below.
The new Halloween is a direct sequel of the orginal film and erases all other sequels from canon. So, apaarently Hartnett’s charcter no longer exsists. In the new film Judy Greer plays Laurie’s daughter Karen Strode and Andi Matichak was cast to play Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson.
Directed by David Gordon Green and written by McBride and David Gordon Green, the new Halloween hits theaters on October 19.
McBride and company may have written off John, but thanks to the magic of Youtube this trailer will be with us forever.

To the uninitiated, I said that Bizarro is one of my favorite Superman villains. He is a villain that could be hilarious or extremely scary. The backwards bruiser has appeared in Superman comics since 1958 coming in a variety of forms. One of these came in the introduction of Htrae, a DC Earth where all of its denizens are backwards versions of the Justice League and its villains. It’s crazy, it’s zany, and in this arc, we’ll meet a new member of it. So what happens when Superboy looks into this backwards world and finds himself?
**Some Spoilers Below**
Story:
The opening to this story is a Bizarro re-creation of the Superman #1 in the Rebirth run. We see Bizarro’s life in Htrae and how much love he has for his son, Boyzarro. The son lives his life as an average member of the backwards world he lives on until the day a portal opens. This portal is actually a window that Superboy and his friend, Kathy, made to observe the world. After Boyzzaro touches the window, there’s a malfunction, causing him to fall into the main DC earth. Boyzarronow hunts for his doppelgänger as Jon returns home.
There’s one major problem with the issue, yet its also somehow its greatest strength. The first half of the story is narrated by Bizarro and his son. This is an interesting element and allows readers to connect with the Bizarro family. The problem is that, unless you’ve read Bizarro stories before, the backward speech might get irritating for you.
Other than that, this issue is pretty damn good. It has great humor, suspense, and sets up the story fantastically. I’m intrigued by what the Bizarro version of the Boy of Steel will do after he encounters his prime earth counterpart. Will they fight for the position of superhero-like their fathers before them or will they become friendly to one another, as with most adventures with Jon? Probably the latter, but that means we’ll get some kick-ass action.
Art:
Patrick Gleason on pencils is able to capture everything great about Bizarro and his world. He can make the world goofy looking one minute and utterly terrifying the next. His recreation of the opening to Superman #1, which he also illustrated, is perfect and fits the backwards nature of Htrae. This, of course, is also in part by the expert color work of Alejandro Sanchez. His vibrant colors make the world and characters pop and his dark colors give a sense of suspense. It’s range like this that makes me enjoy a book more and this team nailed it.
Conclusion:
ME HATED THIS ISSUE! It is a fantastic set up that introduces readers to Htrae and its cast. The art helps show off some colorful yet bizarre sights that just pull you in. The only warning I can give is, to those who are new to Bizarro, you might need to take it slow to understand what they’re saying. However, if you’re a seasoned veteran of the backwards bruiser, this might be the comic for you. ME GIVE A THUMBS DOWN!
The Walking Dead #177 hits your local comic book store today, and with it comes the introduction of the characters that will bring down the Commonwealth as ‘The New World Order’ reaches its midway point.
If you have not read issue 177 there will be spoilers ahead, you have been warned.
Sebastian and Mercer are on opposite ends of the trope spectrum. Mercer is an officer of the Commonwealth with a nice shiny ax, who might or might not be part of a coup to overthrow the Governor. Sebastian, on the other hand, is a spoiled brat that will get people killed and who just so happens to be the son of Pamela Milton (The Governor of the Commonwealth). These two storylines build a conflict in which several people will end up dead, as Michonne, Eugene, Magna, Yumiko, Siddiq and Juanita get caught in the crossfire.
The hot theory blowing up The Walking Dead Facebook Groups is that Mercer is Michonne’s ex-husband, but that seems too obvious for Robert Kirkman.
‘The New World Order’ Part 3 of 5 also gives some time to Rick and Maggie. Both characters are in the middle of a transition of character development, which adds to more tropes, as it is just a matter of time before Maggie’s new love interest gets killed off. Kirkman loves his tropes because he uses them to catch you off guard. Tropes are comfortable and familiar, but when you add a slight twist, it makes the situation uncomfortable and jarring. How is Kirman going to vary the trope when it comes to Pamela, Sebastian, and Mercer? This is why we continue to read.
Charlie Adlard does an exceptional job introducing Mercer. The ax design is something we haven’t seen before in the comic book. Mercer’s stoic face and swagger give the character presence and importance. Then the full-page reveal of walker carnage is what continues to remind readers why Adlard is perfect for this book. The use of ‘the rule of thirds’ on the splash forces your line of sight to move with the action. The heavy use of black and white on the page also helps to separate the reality of The Commonwealth and how it is not safe. It is only a matter of time before the walkers break through. Mercer and this page remind me of the Hound from Game of Thrones, a feared killing machine scarred by the world.
The Walking Dead #177 is a typical third issue of a six-issue arc, as the story starts to build speed towards the climax. Mercer is a welcome addition to the universe and after only a few pages, I can’t wait for the heal Sebastian to get killed off.

“NEW WORLD ORDER,” Part Three Meet Officer Mercer.
A show that started as a spin-off is now getting its own spin-off!
With The Vampire Diaries ending last year, and The Originals gearing up for its final season, our vampire and werewolf fix was coming to an end.
Thanks to the brilliant mind of Julie Plec and CW, we now get to continue our infatuation.
The new untitled spin off stars Matt Davis who plays Alaric in TVD and The Originals, and Danielle Rose Russell who will make her debut in season 5 of The Originals as teenage Hope.
Aria Shahghasemi who also makes her debut in the fifth season, will be in the spin off as well.
Hollywood Life reports, Danielle will play a teenage Hope, while Aria will play her love interest. Newcomers Quincy Fouse (The Goldbergs), Kaylee Bryant (Santa Clarita Diet) and Jenny Boyd will also star.
The series is said to be set in Mystic Falls at Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline’s Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted.
Last year, Originals EP Julie Plec told TVLine that “the idea of the school as a safe haven for young supernatural beings certainly has a lot of relevance for Hope.”
The final season of The Originals begins April 20 9/8 CST on CW.
Captain America and a few of his buddies are ready for war! Total Film has revealed a new image from Avengers: Infinity War, giving us an awesome new look at Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). The image also features the warriors of Wakanda, including Danai Gurira’s Okoye.
Check out the image below:
It’s obvious that this image places these four members of the Avengers in Wakanda, which seems to be where the majority of the film will be set. Many are speculating that the final and most powerful infinity stone resides in the African country, so it’s safe to assume that Thanos is standing at the opposite end of this battlefield.
Avengers: Infinity War is directed by the Russo Brothers and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston.
