You’ve noticed recently that Disney seems to be quite obsessed with turning animated classics into live-action movies. In recent months, we’ve received word that Tim Burton is directing Dumbo and Reese Witherspoon is starring in a Tinkerbell movie. All of this seems to be a direct result of the amazing success of Disney’s live-action Cinderella, which far exceeded the expectations of the studio.
The next one hitting the theaters is Disney’s Jungle Book directed by Jon Favreau. If you follow Disney Studio’s Instagram account, you can get a sneak peak of the trailer that’s due to be released on Monday. Remember, that it was widely reported that the trailer stole the show at the D23 fan expo a month ago. As you will see, the images are simply breathtaking but we don’t see any of the animal characters. I guess we will have to wait for Monday. Jungle Book is scheduled to hit theaters in April of 2016.
The new image features Deadpool chilling with Negasonic Teenage Warhead, it seems he is trying to connect with the young teen by reading a Judy Blume book to her.
Episode Description: “Steven and Connie go on an adventure to rescue one of Pearl’s swords from Connie’s mom.”
The burning question after watching this episode: How good of a doctor can Connie’s mom be when she actually thought Gem mutations were humans who had been in accidents? One of them didn’t have a head and the other had three arms and a gem stone for a face. Those are some pretty clear indications that something is wrong. Moving on.
Connie’s growth this season has been a joy to watch. She continues to be Steven’s support, she took up sword training, and now she has come clean with her mom about all the crazy stuff that’s been going down while she is with Steven. She really is a joy as a character, and watching her fight side by side with Steven is precisely what the fans have been waiting for. Seeing them beat the gem mutations with ease probably had many fans cheering.
Lion keeps being equal parts helpful and frustrating. He is coming and going with too much plot convenience. He wasn’t there moments earlier when they needed to hide the sword, but when he can no longer help in that situation he returns to help Steven and Connie get to the hospital. How long can they really keep the mystery of what he is going?
There is a moment of heartache in the last few second where Steven looks from Connie sharing a hug with her mother and back down to his mom’s sword. It’s little heart clenching moments like this that make the show so enjoyable. Poor kid.
From this episode on, Connie will probably not wear her frames anymore as she doesn’t have to hide her eyes, which were healed by magic. Growth is always good, and more episodes like this will keep fans coming back to cheer on one of their favorite supporting cast members.

Marvel announced Friday that beginning with INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #4, Mary Jane Watson (Parker) will become a regular member of Tony Stark’s supporting cast in an unexpected new role. Writer Brian Bendis commented on the announcement and talked about history and the future of the character.
“We were at one of our glorious Marvel publishing retreats and certain characters got brought up, sometimes almost accidentally, and I found out that nobody had anything going on with Mary Jane. I sat with that for a while and I always go to this place in my head where I [wonder] what the most interesting thing I would like to see that character do now and it fell right into the ideas I was already cooking for Tony Stark,” said Bendis.
“They know each other, she used to live in Avengers Tower. But that’s all I’m going to say for now because what kind of relationship they end up having is a big part of what I would like people to buy the book for. But what I can tell you is that it is new territory for both Tony and Mary Jane. And that is pretty exciting to write,” said Bendis.
“I [have] spent most of my time at Marvel writing the teenage version of Mary Jane [in ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN]. This is a grown-up woman who has been through a lot. She seems like one of those characters that went down certain paths that may not have panned out the way she hope; and she’s ready for a kick ass second act,” said Bendis.
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #4 will be in your local comic book store in December.
DC Comics released the first image of Hawkgirl and Hawkman from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Friday morning.
That’s Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders and Falk Hentschel as her soulmate Carter Hall in the first official image of the two characters. With powers derived from the ancient Egyptian hawk god, Horus, Kendra and Carter are destined to reincarnate through time as winged, helmeted warriors. On DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Hawkgirl and Hawkman will fight alongside the Atom, Firestorm, White Canary, Captain Cold and Heat Wave against the immortal Vandal Savage. Look for them to initially debut in this season’s Arrow and The Flash crossover episode before moving on to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

CW’s The Flash could be the greatest rendition of a character to unfold in live action. The spirit of the show inspires all that is good with superheroes. Marvel Studios is a bit campy, Warner Bros. is a bit too dark, FOX is all over the place, but with The Flash, the CW seems to have found the right chemistry with cast and crew. The only show that rivals The Flash is Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix, but Daredevil doesn’t inspire you to want to help your neighbors or safely walk an old lady across the street.
The CW Thursday released an extend look at season two of The Flash. The Scarlet Speedster returns to the CW on October 6.
Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou is a 24 episode, action/superpower (not the only one at that) show, animated by Bones and directed by Seiji Mizushima, who previously worked to together to create the original Full Metal Alchemist.
The synopsis for this one reads: “The stage is set in “another Japan” as a banquet of diverse superhumans unfolds… In an imaginary “age of gods” about 20 years after the war, Japan has grown and developed by leaps and bounds. What if all the superhumans ever written about in fictional stories existed at the same time? Superhumans who came into existence through different circumstances, and who are special in different ways—Titans from outer space, lifeforms from a mystical world, phantoms and goblins from ancient times, cyborgs created by scientists, relics that rose out of the ruins of ancient civilizations, and the list goes on. One segment of these superhumans makes no secret of their existence and has gained popularity in society. Others cloak their identities and fight in secrecy. There are enemies of superhumans as well, organizations that operate in the shadows. The Japanese government has taken many measures to secure peace and order. One is the establishment of an organization under the Ministry of Health and Welfare—the Overpopulation Research Laboratory, a.k.a. the Superhuman Bureau. Their mission is to identify and approach superhumans, then oversee and safeguard them. One member of the Superhuman Bureau, Jirou Hitoyoshi, is protagonist of this series.” (Source)
The PV features very colorful art and a James-Bond Esque music style. It’s a little odd, on one hand you have the characters act very serious, but on the other hand you have cutesy color palette and a cloud with a clown face. At any rate this is from an accomplished crew and a respected studio, so I’m expecting big things.
Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou will begin airing October 4th, 2015.
