It looks like Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine movie will be telling us a more personal story than we first thought. in an amazing new interview with Empire Magazine, Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold discuss what they’ve tried to focus on in this movie, that makes it different to the ones before it.
Obviously from the look of the trailer, and the images that have been released Logan is going to be a very different kind of superhero movie. Mangold seems to be telling a more personal story for the character, one that doesn’t include a bunch of green screens and special effects.
See what director James Mangold told Empire below:
“The goal was to make something human, we made an effort to scale back on the gloss and greenscreen.”
Hugh Jackman seems more than excited to tell a more personal Wolverine story. The actor has now starred in nine X-Men movies and will make his leave when Logan lands in theaters. See what Jackman had to say to Empire below:
“It’s essential you see this as the story of a man who is struggling with mortality and legacy, and whether the world has been better off with him or without him.”
“Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.”
Empire Magazine has revealed an awesome new look at Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Logan. The image comes from the magazine’s upcoming issue and shows a bloody Wolverine carrying the girl we now know to be X-23.
Check out the image below:
If you look closely at the image you can see some pretty nasty gashes on Wolverine’s torso. In the background, there’s also a few dead bodies proving that you shouldn’t mess with Wolverine’s friends. Clearly, the character has just rescued X-23 from the flaming van behind them as suggested by the handcuffs on the girl’s wrists. Logan marks the ninth film for Jackman’s Wolverine, and also the actors last in the role. From everything we’ve seen so far, including this new image Logan appears to be the heartbreaking masterpiece that Hugh Jackman deserves for his final outing.
Empire has also revealed that tomorrow’s new issue will include another on-set look at Hugh Jackman as Wolverine along with Patrick Stewart as Professor X.
“Set in the future of 2024, Wolverine and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.”
Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman Logan arrives in cinemas March 2017.

The last month of the year has arrived. Time to break out the eggnog and the decorations for whatever holiday you celebrate in the month of December. If you have a moment though, maybe you should take the time to look at these geeky films and shows coming to Netflix and enjoy yourself for a bit.
1. The Angry Birds Movie (December 1st)
Let’s be honest. Not a lot of people went out of their way to see this movie while it was in theaters. Now you have the opportunity to finally see if it was entertaining or not. Who knows, maybe you can enjoy it with your younger cousins during the festivities and use it as a stepping stone for more geekier material.
2.The Crucible (December 1st)
In the mood for some more creepy period entertainment after watching American Horror Stories: Roanoke? Then check out this film based on the book they made you read back in High School. Nothing helps ring in the holiday season like a witch hunt..
3. Harry and the Hendersons (December 1st)
Everyone’s favorite depiction of Bigfoot comes to Netflix. Laugh and cry with the Hendersons as they meet take in a new family member who is larger than life. Might be just the thing to watch with the family when you can’t stand anymore holiday specials.
4. Hannibal (December 1st)
Not in the mood for going to the multitude of family dinners over the holiday season? Then take the time to have an interesting dinner with Dr. Hannibal Lecter as he serves up some dishes you’ve never tasted before. Or maybe just play it safe and order a pizza.
5. National Lampoon’s Animal House (December 1st)
Has coming home from your first semester of college made you delusional about how college is supposed to be? Then check out this film and watch as the members of Delta Tau Chi get put on Double Secret Probation. Before you know it you’ll be running through the streets screaming “Toga! Toga!”
6. The Rock (December 1st)
“Gentleman, Welcome to the Rock.” So frustrated with the season you want to just watch things blow up? Then it’s time for a Michael Bay directed film starring Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery to really lighten the mood. If not you can always eat pressure for breakfast. It makes more sense after you watch the film.
7. Toys (December 1st)
An Underrated Robin Williams film is just what the doctor ordered after the holiday drag starts to get the better of you. Watch as Williams plays a man who has to save his father’s toy company from his military minded uncle. Also there is blatant commentary on drone warfare almost two decades before it was relevant.
8. Trollhunters: Season 1 (December 23rd)
Let’s recap. A new animated series by Guillermo Del Toro featuring the voices of Kelsey Grammer and Ron Perlman. Think of it as a Christmas gift you get to open up early and take the time to binge watch this one.
9. Captain America: Civil War (December 25th)
The real Christmas gift Netflix is offering. As Captain America tries to find a way to save his friend Bucky, he soon finds he must face his former teammate Iron Man in the process. Watch it twice right after the rest of the gifts have been unwrapped.
10. Ajin: Season 2 (December 27th)
The Netflix exclusive anime returns for its second season. Watch as Kei deals with finding out he is one of the immortal Ajin who are being captured and experimented on by the government. May not exactly fit the holiday theme but by the time it comes out you may be needing a taste of something which isn’t holiday related.

With the Suicide Squad Extended Cut available for Digital Download, it has become clear that Warner Bros. is still holding out when it comes to Jared Leto’s Joker. Even with the longer cut of the film the Joker is only given a snippet of new footage but does that footage manage to improve Leto’s portrayal. Yeah, actually I would argue that it does.
I was actually a fan of Suicide Squad when it was released in theaters. Does it have problems? Yeah some pretty big ones, but overall I found the characters to be interesting and fun enough to win me over, bringing us to Jared Leto’s version of the Joker. With the theatrical release of Suicide Squad, I would claim that we didn’t get the iconic Joker moment that we deserved, don’t get me wrong I think Leto did a great job. Every time the Joker was on screen I was captivated, there was simply not enough of him. The extended cut of Suicide Squad doesn’t really justify cutting Leto’s scenes, after all, I believe the best Joker scene in the entire movie, is a newly added one and I would even go one step further to say that it did manage to deliver an iconic moment.
The scene I’m talking about is an exchange between the Joker and Harley Quinn. We get to see this amazing chase and a better look at Mr. J’s conflicted feelings for Harley. We also get to see this mesmerizing scene between the pair where Joker tells Harley that she isn’t a part of his plan, and then goes on to deliver a great performance that displays some of Jokers inner madness. This all leads to what I would say is Leto’s best line in the entire movie, “if you weren’t so crazy I’d think you were insane.” It just baffles me why a scene this great was cut. Watch the amazing added scene at around the 5.20 mark below:
Overall I would say that we still need to see more of Jared Leto’s Joker before we pass judgment, but this added scene definitely helps the character shine a little but more in the DC Extended Universe, and gives Leto a more iconic and memorable moment in the film.
Beginning next year, the Avengers are spreading out across all 50 states in the new title U.S. Avengers from Marvel. To celebrate, Marvel will launch the series with over 50 variant covers, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Variant Covers for Each State

U.S Avengers, releasing January 4th, could not arrive at a more timelypoint in American history. The presidential election left our non-fictional country deeplydivided on a variety of issues. We could all use a hero or two about now. Marvel‘s America isn’t far off, as the article on EW explains.
“Like many Marvel superheroes, the Avengers are mostly based in New York City. This localization has helped keep the Marvel heroes connected over the years, since they can’t help but run into each other, but also does a bit of a disservice to the rest of the country.” The storyline which creates the U.S. Avengers sounds familiar. “In the wake of this year’s Civil War II event, however, the spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. is distrusted, and America needs a far-reaching organization capable of keeping peace nationwide. Enter the U.S. Avengers, a new team dedicated to protecting the entire country.”
The complete collection of variant covers includes 54 Avengers: one for each state, plus D.C, Puerto Rico, Canada, and a secret cover for stores that order all others. Artist Rod Reis created art for all 54 covers. The state covers connect to create an American flag.

Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort provided some insight into how each Avenger was aligned with a state. “Beginning with places of birth, and expanding outward to key stories featuring the character in that particular location, we were able to hone in on a specific and unique Avengers character with a connection to each of the fifty States — and more”. Some connections are easy to spot: Captain America is synonymous with New York, Ms. Marvel with New Jersey. Others take a little Marvel knowledge, like Thor landing in Oklahoma, and Black Widow spinning a web around Connecticut.
U.S. Avengers releases January 4th. The series is written by Al Ewing, with art from Paco Medina. Rod Reis created all 54 variant covers, which are available now at Newsarama.
