This series will be a brief, semi-comedic review of the CW superhero shows. You can check out last week’s review post here. The only shows discussed will be ‘Arrow’, ‘Flash’, and ‘Supergirl’. There WILL be some spoilers discussed, so only look at the reviews you’re up to date on!
3. Supergirl, “Reign” (Dec 4th)
SUPERGIRL’s season three baddie has been revealed… and she’s kind of boring. Reign, the split personality of Mandy Moore-esque Samantha, is more crimefighter than “World Killer.” It’s hard to fear a villain who we’ve seen humanized to this degree. SUPERGIRL makes a similar misstep with Morgan, the evil businessman who apparently loves Christmas. Just let the villains be villainous, CW! Meanwhile, Kara’s anger at Mon-El’s new relationship makes sense, but gets boring fast. I’m proud of myself for predicting the Lena-James relationship, but that doesn’t mean I like it. The episode is mostly boring, but is saved by the epic punch-out between Supergirl and Reign.
CLIFFHANGER REVIEW: Oh, woooow, what could be wrong with Ruby’s mom? Is it that she’s Reign? Do we really have to wait a month to “find out” that Ruby’s mom is Reign? This cliffhanger didn’t come off as “shocking,” it came off as “bad editing.”
