Jeremy Saulnier, the fantastic new filmmaker responsible for bringing us both Blue Ruin and Green Room, will release his next film, Hold the Dark, on Netflix. And now he has Jeffrey Wright on board.
Here is a brief synopsis of William Giraldi’s novel of the same name:
The story revolves around a child taken from his village by a pack of wolves and an expert hunter is called in to track them down and kill them. He finds himself confronting not only the cruelty of Mother nature but also his own failings. As the child’s grief-crazed father follows behind him, it becomes unclear who is really being hunted.
So that sounds great, especially for Saulnier and his dark sensibilities.
The Playlist broke the news of Jeffrey Wright’s involvement. He will join an impressive cast of Riley Keough, Alexander Skarsgard, and James Badge Dale, who pretty much improves every movie he’s in. Of course, the same can be said for Jeffrey Wright, who was arguably the best part of HBO’s Westworld.
We won’t be seeing Hold the Dark until some time in 2018, but given the early news of its existence, we can at least hold out hope that it’s early next year. Stay tuned.
