Wait… Did You Just Say Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg Made a 9/11 Movie?

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Yes. Yes I did just say Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg made a 9/11 movie. And it’s going to be here in less than two months.

The craftily titled 9/11 stars Charlie. Effing. Sheen. Whoopi Goldberg, Gina Gershon, and Luis Guzman. Take a moment to just breathe in that cast lineup and you can almost see your opinions of this movie forming in front of you.

As for what 9/11 is about, well:

“Atlas Distribution announced Tuesday it has set 9/11 for a wide theatrical bow on Sept. 8, 2017 — just three days shy of the 16th anniversary of the attacks. Based on Patrick Carson’s stage play Elevator, the film recreates actual events adapted from voicemail messages left by victims. The story follows five people trapped in an elevator inside the World Trade Center’s North Tower. The group works together to find hope amid seemingly inescapable circumstances.”

So there you have it. Anyone who had “Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg Do 9/11” in their office pool, prepared to get paid.

This movie is coming out September 8, and we even have photographic evidence:

Charlie Sheen

So, wow. There you have it. Noted 9/11 Truther and completely insane Charlie Sheen is aiming for that elusive Oscar. And he’s brought the View co-host with him! However, since the marketing for this didn’t exist until two months out, odds are that a dozen people will ever see this. Maybe two dozen.

Here is a thing which now exists in the history of this world. Enjoy.

Deadpool Congratulates Wonder Woman On Twitter

Monkeys Fighting Robots

The official Deadpool Twitter account sent Wonder Woman a congratulatory message on the platform. Check it out below.

The Merc may be filthier, but her B.O. is stronger. Congrats .

Although it plays into the marketing aspect of Deadpool, it’s still interesting to see two “rival” companies being friendly on social media. Fans like to imagine that there’s some kind of DC/Marvel/Fox war when it comes to superhero films, and that really is not the case.

Have you seen Wonder Woman yet? If not, go check it out before it leaves theaters!

See Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Franco, and James Franco in Trailer for HBO’s ‘The Deuce’

Monkeys Fighting Robots

The Deuce is HBO’s latest collaboration with Wire creator David Simon, and it tackles the porn industry in 70s New York. Not the most original of settings, but with Simon on board it’s worth at least a look. Plus, we get two James Franco’s.

This first trailer shows off the double dose of Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and a stunning visual interpretation of the era. Check it out:

https://youtu.be/pGomupAJBxo

Here’s a detailed quote from Simon regarding the series:

[The Deuce is] roughly based on the story of the actual people who were there, some of the people that were the pioneers when pornography came out of the brown paper bag and became an open industry. Suddenly, a lucrative and provocative industry came out of nowhere soon to become a billion-dollar industry and a culture [impacting] right down to commercials to sell beer that became more and more overt right down to the sex education of a twelve-year-old with a laptop. We all live in a different world. There’s a cultural revolution here. But there is also a market story. It is a story about market capitalism and the rise of a new industry and what the world is like now when something is not supposed to be sold openly suddenly becomes legitimate and legitimized.

If I were to pick one television wheelhouse, this would be somewhere in it. That being said, I was fired up for Vinyl, a story set in a parallel 70s New York world, and that wound up pretty disastrous. And that was tied to Scorsese!

As for the Franco twin gimmick, let’s hope the experiment turns out better that Ewan McGregor in Fargo.

The Deuce will be here September 10.

Is Wonder Woman Taking on the Soviet Russians in the 1980s?

Monkeys Fighting Robots

A mere five weeks after its release, Wonder Woman is still a tour de force in the box office, recently surpassing Suicide Squad’s earnings. Though director Patty Jenkins has not yet officially signed on, she is supposedly working on a story with Geoff Johns. It looks as though Princess Diana of Themyscira will be seen at heart of another major global conflict – the Cold War.

According to Screen RantWonder Woman 2 may be another period piece, as opposed to the present day DCEU, in the aftermath of the forthcoming Justice League flicks. Set during the 1980s, the film will send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War.

Screen Rant is also reporting that Chris Pine will reprise his role as Steve Trevor. Given the events of the first Wonder Woman movie, discussions will be had as to how he will return.

What are your thoughts on a 1980s setting for the Wonder Woman sequel? How will they bring back Steve Trevor? Let’s discuss!

A Comic-Con Exclusive Shows Future of ‘IDW’ Comics

Monkeys Fighting Robots

The recently announced San Diego Comic-Con exclusive is a set called Revolution. The set is meant to reflect the comic book event of the same name which brought many Hasbro properties together into one interconnected storytelling universe. The box will include Jetfire of the Transformers, Ian Noble from Action Man, Roadblock of G.I. Joe, Matt Trakker of M.A.S.K., Rom the Space Knight (from the series of the same name), miniature figure versions of the Micronauts, and a Dire Wraith, the alien race from Rom. What is interesting is the inclusion of another Hasbro property to the mix which currently doesn’t have a comic running from the publisher. This figure is Leoric of the Visionaries, a lost franchise Hasbro still owns the rights too. This helps to confirm rumors Visionaries will be coming to IDW as a comic series and will part of the Hasbro Universe.

Visionaries was a cartoon series with a line of figures and a short-lived comic which focused on characters who could use magical light to transform into animals. The toyline used holograms to take recreate this effect and the series has kept a small following over the years since it was abandoned by Hasbro. The figure will be the first one released for the series in years.
