Vincent D’Onofrio On Wilson Fisk’s Return To The MCU

Monkeys Fighting Robots

In a recent interview with Collider, Vincent D’Onofrio talked about when Wilson Fisk will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“He will, eventually. Honestly, I wish I knew ‘cause I could plan my year better. I know he will come back, I just don’t know when. I can’t wait to find out. I’m totally into the Marvel stuff, big time. I want to do Marvel, all the time. I love it so much ‘cause they’re so creative over there. They let you bring this whole new thing to an iconic thing that they invented. It’s just so much fun. I love it to death. I want to see Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman. There’s something about those movies. I dig the shit out of them. I’ve been tweeting back and forth with James Gunn, about doing something with him because I love Guardians of the Galaxy so much.

Although the actor doesn’t even know when the character will return, it’s extremely likely that Fisk will make at least an appearance in The Defenders series on Netflix.

‘Blade Runner 2049’ Will Probably Bring Back a Well-Known Replicant Via CGI

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Bringing back old characters in long-gap sequels is all the rage after Rogue One pulled it off – somewhat – convincingly a couple of times. That’s debatable. Now, it seems Blade Runner 2049 is set to bring back one of the original Replicants using CGI technology.

This is a rumor from The Terminator Fans, and there’s some merit behind this rumor according to Scott Wampler over at Birth.Movies.Death:

We can now reveal that a source close to the production of Blade Runner 2049 has informed us that the power of CGI will bring a Replicant character from the cult 1982 film back for the theatrical Blade Runnersequel…

The digital CG Replicant character’s appearance in the movie will be at least 10 shots of film or more, so it won’t be a blink of the eye cameo.

No word yet on who it is, but this will clearly be an age related CGI ploy since all of the major Replicants are, to my knowledge, still alive. They’re just old.

This is apparently going to be all the rage for franchise films, bringing back CGI characters who have either died or gotten too old to fit the story. Let’s hope the tech continues to improve so they look better than You Know Who in Rogue One. That was fine for a split second look, but not an extended cameo like they’re speaking of here.

Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and a CGI version of probably Rutger Hauer, Daryl Hannah, or Sean Young. We’ll see when it opens October 6.

Usain Bolt Dreams Of A Cameo In ‘The Flash’ Movie

Monkeys Fighting Robots

While promoting his biopic I Am Bolt (2016), Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt told MTV that he would love a cameo role in the upcoming The Flash movie by Warner Bros., expected to hit our screens in Spring 2018. The nine-time Olympic gold medal winner and world record crushing sprinter is the fastest man alive. It makes sense then, that he should appear alongside the fastest comic book superhero.

You can check out the interview below:

Despite its reported 2018 release date, The Flash pre-production has not been without drama. The Hollywood Reporter announced that the film’s director, Rick Famuyiwa, had left the project back in October, citing creative differences with Warner Bros. This is news which came after the movie’s writer, Seth Grahame-Smith, also initially lined up to direct, left for similar reasons.

A few months have passed since Famuyiwa parted ways with the project, and with production scheduled to commence soon but no director in place, Usain Bolt may have a larger window than expected in which to negotiate his appearance.

While the studio searches for a new director, Ezra Miller is preparing to reprise the role of Barry Allen/The Flash which he debuted in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Alongside him, Kiersey Clemons, Billy Crudup and Ray Fisher will appear as Iris West, Henry Allen (Barry’s father) and Victor Stone/Cyborg respectively. Could Usain Bolt join them? The film’s release is slated for March 16th 2018 (subject to change).

How do you think Usain Bolt and his iconic lightning bolt pose could fit into The Flash? Give us your thoughts in the comments.

Rumor: Los Angeles To Reprise Its Role As Gotham City in ‘The Batman’?

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Ben Affleck’s The Batman is now preparing for a shoot close to where Warner Bros. is based in California according to LRM, in contrast to other upcoming DC movies shot predominantly overseas.

This is the latest twist in The Batman saga after Ben Affleck cast doubt on his involvement earlier this week. When asked by The Guardian about his reported starring role/direction of the movie, Affleck said:

“That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

This got fans wondering as to the progress of production, particularly after rumors that filming might commence this spring. But even after Affleck’s comments, it seems that Warner Bros. are beginning to prep for the shoot. While The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Justice League are among future DC films to have been filmed on locations all over the world, a source has reported that the filming of The Batman will be in California.

The suggestion is that the filming is likely to take place on the studio’s lot as one of the primary locations, leading to speculation as to the setting of the caped crusader’s next outing. The filmmakers might be intending to use Los Angeles as Gotham, as Christopher Nolan did in The Dark Knight Rises, or it could be a largely interior shoot. Might we see an Arkham Asylum-based movie?

The Batman’s release is expected in 2018, though that is of course subject to change if no script is confirmed soon. Alongside Affleck who is still expected to direct and star as Batman, Jeremy Irons will reprise his role as Alfred, Joe Mangianello will appear as Deathstroke, with J.K.Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

What do you think this means for the setting of The Batman? Tell us your theories in the comments!

The Most Anticipated Horror Movies of 2017 You Need To Know

Monkeys Fighting Robots

Get Ready Because 2017 Is Going To Be One Scary Good Year For Horror Movies!

2016 proved to be successful for horror movies. The genre had smaller features like ‘The Shallows‘ become a surprise hit while proven franchises like ‘The Conjuring 2′ brought in the big bucks.

Now with 2017 just kicking off, what is there to looking forward to? It looks like it will be another amazing year for horror with some crazy slasher returns, another Alien film, and the return of an infamous clown!

Check out the most anticipated horror movies of 2017 below and let me know which you are most excited for!

1. ‘Alien: Covenant’

  • Before the trailer was release, ‘Alien Covenant‘ had a spot on this list. After the amazing Christmas present from Ridley Scott, the new entry in the Alien franchise instantly rushed to my most anticipated spot!

2. ‘It’

  • Pennywise The Dancing Clown is coming to get you again. The horrifying Stephen King novel is being turned into feature film following a 1990 miniseries. A modern retelling of this story seems needed after 2016’s clown fiasco.

Horror Movies

3. ‘A Cure for Wellness’

  • Gore Verbinski changed American horror movies in 2002 with ‘The Ring’. I expect that ‘A Cure for Wellness‘ will be another big game changer! The teaser trailers intrigued but the first real trailer is creating some major buzz.

4. ‘Get Out’

  • Comedian Jordan Peele comes to the horror genre with some aggression. ‘Get Out‘ is a racially-charged and intense look at what happens when a man meets his girlfriend’s family. Will comedy still play a part in this film?

5. ‘God Particle’

  • God Particle‘ isn’t being released with little notice like ‘10 Cloverfield Lane‘ but the third entry in the franchise has the same aura of mystery around it. Little is none than a vague plot description and the actors involved.

Horror Movies

6. ‘The Dark Tower’

  • Speaking of Stephen King again, another adaption of his work is coming. His novels to horror movies have always been hit or miss but ‘The Dark Tower‘ is looking to be a major hit. Also, Idris Elba is always a win!

Horror Movies

7. ‘Raw’

  • This film is famously known for causing causing mass vomiting and fainting during a screening at the Toronto Film Festival so the hype for ‘Raw‘ is real. Little is known other than the plot of a vegetarian sucked into a cannibal cult.

Horror Movies

8. ‘Friday The 13th’

  • We may not know much about this movie but at least we do know there will be a new ‘Friday The 13th‘ this year. It was pushed back from January 13th 2017 to October 13th 2017 by Paramount but hopefully it’s for good reason.

Horror Movies

9. ‘Flatliners’

  • Was anyone asking for a remake of this niche 90’s movie? No but the story of ‘Flatliners‘ is so intriguing that I’m happy to see it revisited. With a new young cast led by Ellen Page, this could be a sleeper hit…

Horror Movies

10. ‘Suspiria’

  • I’m a massive fan of director Dario Argento and his classic giallo film ‘Suspiria‘. Usually if someone is a big fan, they don’t want to ever see a remake. But once this film landed Tilda Swinton in a lead role, I was sold!

Horror Movies

11. ‘Split’

  • The public is beginning to regain faith in M Night Shyamalan. ‘The Visit‘ from a few years ago was a good start. Now ‘Split‘ hopes to keep the faith there. Can’t wait to see James McAvoy juggle all these crazy personalities.

12. ‘Saw Legacy’

  • And you thought the Saw franchise was over with. Coming back from the dead, ‘Saw Legacy‘ doesn’t have much information released but we do know Tobin Bell is returning. Can it retain the epic levels of gore from before or will it evolve?

Horror Movies

13. ‘The Mummy’

  • The original Cinematic Universe is making a big return in 2017. Universal Horror Movies are a cinematic staple and this movie hopes to return the franchise to its glory. The first trailer of ‘The Mummy‘ looks fun but we need more scares!

14. ‘XX’

  • An anthology filled with multiple horror movies directed by four women? Count me in! As of late, some of the best independent horror have been anthologies with great gimmicks. There’s hope for ‘XX‘ to continue this streak.

Horror Movies

15. ‘Untitled Halloween Project’

  • John Carpenter is returning to the series he created. Signing on to be a producer for a new ‘Halloween‘ film comes as a big deal after the polarizing Rob Zombie films. Will this return to form for Michael Myers prove to be a hit?

Horror Movies

16. ‘Insidious: Chapter 4’

  • I don’t think anyone expected Insidious to become a major horror franchise. Now with ‘Insidious: Chapter 4‘, it looks like things aren’t stopping anytime soon. Coming this October, I expect it to be a box-office smash.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU-y1o5Sdsg

17. ‘Kong: Skull Island’

  • The granddaddy of all monsters, King Kong is welcoming guests to his home on Skull Island. ‘Kong: Skull Island‘ comes after a solid ‘Godzilla‘ film from Legendary so there’ is high expectations for this.

Oscars 2017: Predicting Best Actress

Monkeys Fighting Robots

From the first mentions of Pablo Larrain’s Jackie, Natalie Portman seemed a shoe-in for a nomination. Nothing has changed. Portman will get a nod for her captivating work as the former First Lady, despite any shortcoming the film may have. It’s a towering performance. Right behind her, almost a certainty herself, is Amy Adams for Arrival. Adams will get her Oscar eventually, I just don’t know if it’s this year, however deserving she may be for bringing honesty and soul to Deni Villeneuve’s alien invasion stunner.

Best ActressBest Actress

Emma Stone will ride the wave of momentum for La La Land. She sings, she dances, and she gives Damien Chazelle’s musical its emotional center. After Stone we have another long-time nominee without a win in Annette Bening. She will get a nod for 20th Century Women, but will most likely wind up a bridesmaid for a fifth time.

Best ActressBest Actress

This leaves a fifth spot and at least three deserving nominees. As tired as we may all be of Meryl Streep getting Oscar nominations just because (at least it seems sometimes) being Meryl Streep, she has a real shot here with Florence Foster Jenkins. Ruth Negga is also a deserving actress here for her brilliant work in Loving. But an outlier will sneak in this year: Isabelle Huppert. It’s terrific seeing any performance from a Paul Verhoeven picture get awards recognition, and she is absolutely deserving for her work in Elle.

BEST ACTRESS PREDICTIONS

Natalie Portman – Jackie

Amy Adams – Arrival

Emma Stone – La La Land

Annette Bening – 20th Century Women

Isabelle Huppert – Elle

Carrie Fisher: A Tribute To The Princess’ Legacy With The Written Word

Monkeys Fighting Robots

On December 27, 2016, actress, singer, producer, and writer, Carrie Fisher passed away from complications suffered due to a heart attack. Fisher was just 60 years young and left an iconic mark on the world by embodying the most famous princess in a galaxy far, far away — Princess Leia. The role of Leia made Fisher a pop culture goddess, a hero to young women, and allowed her to share more and more of her talents with the rest of us.

“I am very sane about how crazy I am.” – Carrie Fisher

One of Fisher’s greatest creative talents came as a writer. In 1987, Carrie Fisher wrote her first novel, a semi-autobiographical book called Postcards From The Edge. The bestseller examined, to an extent, Fisher’s life with drugs and alcohol, as well as her relationship with her parents, singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds.

Fisher later wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Postcards From The Edge which earned her a BAFTA nomination (British Oscars). Fisher would go on to write three more novels in for the form of memoirs.

“I am a spy in the house of me. I report back from the front lines of the battle that is me. I am somewhat nonplused by the event that is my life.”  – Carrie Fisher

the wedding singer-lethal weaon 3-carrie fisher-writing
Scripting Postcards From The Edge lead Fisher into a new role in the 90s as a script doctor. All this means is that Fisher would get hired to come in and fix scripts that just weren’t right. Along with her iconic tough, science fiction Princess, Fisher made a lot of iconic movies better thanks to her skill with the written word.

Fisher was responsible (and uncredited for because that’s how script doctoring works) for punching-up Steven Spielberg’s Hook, The River Wild, the wildly successful comedy Sister Act with Whoopie Goldberg, Lethal Weapon 3, Outbreak, and Adam Sandler’s The Wedding Singer. The Princess even used her scriptwriting magic on Lucas’ Attack of the Clones. By the early 2000s, script-doctoring morphed into the much less compensated “script consulting” and Fisher left it behind.

wishful drinking-carrie fisher-writingIn 2008, Fisher wrote Wishful Drinking, an honest and compelling autobiography which she also turned into a one-woman play that’s available on HBO. Fisher’s gift at communicating came from a life of many highs and lows. Carrie Fisher shared laughter and pain with equal measure and without hesitation. Often, Fisher would share her thoughts without a coat of sugar to make it go down easier but with a dose of laughter to make the truth a touch less terrifying.

Rest in the infinite of time and space to a princess like few we’ve ever known. A queen of entertainment and royalty in the legacy of the written word.

“If life weren’t funny
it would just be true.”

– Carrie Fisher

The outlet is claiming December 13, 2018 might be the new release date for the picture. They are also stating that the sources giving them this information have been correct in the past.

Directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as the title character, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke in an unknown role.
