Monkeys Fighting Robots

Netflix has announced that it will be producing an Umbrella Academy series. The short-lived comic will be turned into a live-action show for the streaming service. It’s hard to imagine some of these colorful characters as real world characters. However, here are some choices that could make these characters work.

5. The Rumor/Allison Hargreeves

Umbrella Academy

Rumor’s a purple-haired mother, with the ability to make her lies a reality. She doesn’t get a lot of panel time in the comic, but she’s an interesting character. She’s perhaps the most realistic of the group, having mostly abandoned the superheroics.

WHO TO CAST?

When thinking of purple-haired characters, Mary Elizabeth Winstead comes to mind. The actress was phenomenal in the comic book adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Winstead is also phenomenal in projects like Fargo and 10 Cloverfield Lane. Betty Gilpin has nailed the single-mother role in shows like American Gods and G.L.O.W. Or another actress that would be phenomenal is Michelle Monaghan, featured in shows like The Path and True Detective‘s amazing first season.
