Monkeys Fighting Robots

Netflix has announced that it will be producing an Umbrella Academy series. The short-lived comic will be turned into a live-action show for the streaming service. It’s hard to imagine some of these colorful characters as real world characters. However, here are some choices that could make these characters work.

3. The Kraken/Diego Hargreeves

Umbrella Academy

The character of Kraken is like a cross between Batman and Wolverine. He’s the gritty lone wolf, who plays by his own rules. He’s a bit of a classic comic archetype, but that’s what makes Kraken fun. Kraken’s one of the few characters who kept up his heroics after the team split up. He’s the one who, in a way, cares the most about being a hero, even if he hates the team.

WHO TO CAST?

Norman Reedus could be a fantastic Kraken. It’s hard to imagine him leaving The Walking Dead, but this would be a great role for Daryl Dixon. Zach McGowan, from The 100 and Black Sails, also has the grit & hair for it. There’s also the less conventional choice of Better Call Saul actor Michael Mando. He doesn’t look much like the comic Kraken, but he’s a fantastic actor with the right edge to him. Whether you care about hair accuracy or not, there are plenty of actors who could bring Kraken to life.
