Monkeys Fighting Robots

This series will be a brief, semi-comedic review of the CW superhero shows. You can check out last week’s review post here. The only shows discussed will be ‘Arrow’, ‘Flash’, and ‘Supergirl’. There WILL be some spoilers discussed, so only look at the reviews you’re up to date on!

3. Supergirl, “Midvale” (Nov 13th)

This episode of Supergirl feels like a less creepy version of Riverdale. Unfortunately, the creep factor is the one thing that makes Riverdale watchable. “Midvale” isn’t awful, but it’s super boring and predictable. The young Danvers actresses do solid work, as does Ivan Mok (THE AMERICANS). But it seemed like maybe the two had been trapped in their past bodies in the beginning, which was super intriguing. The fact that it was just issues we could’ve explored with the two as adults made it a disappointing arc. The episode was saved by solid kid performances and a well-placed SMALLVILLE reference.

SCORE: 7/10 Irish Coffees

Jon Barr is a comedian and TV Phanatic. Yeah, he meant to spell it that way. It's like the Philly Phanatic, like from Philadelphia, because he's from - you get it. He loves good TV & mocking bad TV. You can find him all over the web.
