Season two of Marvel’s Netflix series Daredevil has been in the news this past week, as rumors circulated about its release date. This morning, Netflix not only announced the true release date, but put out a full minute-and-a-half long teaser trailer.
The trailer does not show any footage of season two, but is more of a brief recap of season one, done in a very stylized way. It echoes Catholicism, taking place in a cathedral with church music running. Matt Murdock’s religion is one of the things that make him such an interesting character; his mission is fueled by Catholic guilt. It looks like Marvel and Netflix intend to make that a running theme throughout the series.

What little audio the trailer does supply from the new season plays right into that notion of Catholic guilt:
“Father, why do I still feel guilty?”
“Guilt can be a good thing. It’s the soul’s call to action; the indication that your work is not yet finished.”
Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see if Matt can relieve himself of that guilt.
Season two of Marvel’s Daredevil will be available to stream globally on March 18 at 12:01 a.m. PT on Netflix.
