Contrary to what all my legal documents say, I was born in 1994. My birthday was in December, so when I was adopted my mom changed it to January 1995. She did this to ensure I don’t have to go through the disrespect of someone asking me if my birthday and Christmas presents could be consolidated into one gift given at some shaky time in between the two. However, I wasn’t the only above average thing to come out of 1994. Right on the cusp of the mid 20th century, some of the greatest films were released out into the wild. The following five films hold a near, and dear place in my cold, dark heart. Not only did most of them mic drop all over the box office, but they also contributed to me becoming the person I am today…as cringy as that sounds. If you haven’t seen these films yet, or haven’t seen them in a while, I encourage avid binge watching of my list.
1. Forrest Gump
Not just my favorite movie of 1994, but my personal favorite movie of all time. Literally, I watch this movie about 10 times a year. More if it’s a particularly hard year, and I need to ugly cry. When I was in high school, we had a teacher that made us watch Forrest Gump every year, which obviously is why that class was one of the only ones I actually showed up to.
