Stephen King revealed the first poster for the highly anticipated adaptation of The Dark Tower on his Facebook page today. And it’s pretty awesome.
Check it out:
The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.
Fans of the series will probably recognize Lud, the city in Mid World from the books. They might also realize that, yes, Lud is from Book Three. While we’ve known for some time they will be combining elements of The Dark Tower books along the way, this glimpse gives us just a little more insight.
The poster reveal also means a teaser or trailer isn’t too far away now. The film stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Abbey Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, and Abbey Lee. It’s directed by Nikolaj Arcel, and will hit theaters July 28. Hopefully they can pull off this book combination approach and not ruin it for fans.
