We all have those moments where we wish we could have changed something in our past. But what if it wasn’t your life you were changing, but someone you know little about. How far would you go to save someone that you don’t even know?
Looking at the Erased
Satoru Fujinuma is a failed manga writer currently working at a pizzeria. Yet with a tragedy about to strike a nearby child, Satoru’s mysterious power “Revival” kicks in. “Revival” sends Satoru back in time, usually a few minutes in order to prevent the problem. With this power, he can change events in time in order to save lives. But when tragedy hits his family, Satoru’s power kicks in sending him back 18 years. Here he must figure out the mysterious murders that occurred during this time. Will he be able to uncover the mystery and save his classmates lives?
Personal Thoughts
Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (Erased) is an incredibly interesting premise that drags you in from the first episode. Since it was so interesting, I ended up finding the manga online since the series had just started. Almost like a drug, I needed my fix. Does the interest follow from start to finish? Without a doubt, Yes. Does interest equal a happy ending though? Well, that is for you to find out. I will say that I was not disappointed at the end though.
Verdict
While Boku Dake ga Inai Machi was an incredibly good anime, my image of the series was tainted by a bad live-action adaptation. Does this effect the anime series, no. Constantly keeping me entertained I watched each episode weekly from start to finish. Due to this I cannot give the series too many negative qualities. With this being said, I do not recommend watching the live-action series.
