I guessed it was a time tunnel ending. Other explanations I read didn't work, such as the Zman inserting a fantasy into Nick's mind. What was also puzzling was Diana's behavior. First sheer terror about him coming and when he does show, she goes off with him quietly, doesn't help Renard, shows no emotion about her mother. Maybe she was hypnotized by it. Only the writers know.

In reply to <a href="https://monkeysfightingrobots.co/wesvolution-3-saying-goodbye-to-grimm-its-been-a-wild-journey/#comment-18978">Marty</a>.

Sure! (spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet)

Yes he went back in time, think Doctor Who wibbly wobbly timey wimey sort of thing. The staff went back with him because of since the Skull guy is gone and it is a tool of the Grimm in a way, it went back with them. When I saw what they were doing I kind of had a feeling they were going to go in the time warp direction. If it helps you can even think of it as an alternate timeline where Skull Guy didn't come back with them and only Nick and Diana remember it and the stick was sort of an extra item from the old timeline. Hope this helps. As I saw your comment as I got out of the shower was trying to figure out an easy-ish way to explain it.

Please explain the ending after the Grimms and the ghost Grimms kill skull guy. Did he go back in time? How did the staff wind up on the table in Monroe's house? We don't see it in nicks hands when he crashes back into the living room.
