What Warner Brothers ought to do is end the current DCEU and do a soft reboot taking up after after Man of Steel, the one movie worthy enough to be linked to the Dark Knight films. The four films should anchor the universe. Their next film should be a proper sequel to Man of Steel and then do a proper epic and definitive Wonder Woman reboot. Snyder claims that the reason he could not continue with the Dark Knight vision was because it was too grounded in reality. It was not. There are plenty of fantastic elements in the Dark Knight films. Snyder self identified that he was not able to make grounded films. Warner Brothers seems to have taken his word for it that it could not be done. That was wrong and in my opinion it has cost the studio billions in opportunity costs; lost ground compared to its studio rivals; and negative public relations that now makes everything they do suspect. It did not and still does not have to be that way. I have already seen a treatment in which the Dark Knight universe and Man of Steel are blended together masterfully as well as a an epic Wonder Woman story that would become the most definitive origin story for a hero that deserves it. Just because Snyder does not know how to do it, does not mean it can’t be done.
