I personally think it's NEVER coming back to it's "Original" Glory & It's pissed off too many people. It's oddly making many of the same mistakes "Fear TWD" made much faster. Do people care about Rick & the gang? Certainly - but the fans will now watch "TWD" on THEIR terms. It's No Longer "Must See Sunday" TV. People that tuned out or got bored will simply WAIT for the season to be "Over" or Netflix. Why? So they can FF thru all the boring episodes like Tara's. They've been jerked around before by the show now they're "over it". You will NOT be able to shock them again like that (for good or bad).

It's a "Ratings Issue" for AMC & Advertisers now. The show is by no means dead but a 7 Million viewer loss isn't the fans fault - it's Kirkmans & the Producers. They've gone so far off the reservation of the "Source material" even that fans of the comic are getting annoyed. This show is now a vehicle for "Fan Fiction" of how Kirkman would tell the story to "please certain groups" (or demos) instead of just telling the story he original told (and still tells). TV only viewers don't notice the "changes" (to character favorites) and they now hold the TV writers "hostage" (If Daryl dies we Riot?)- Killing Glenn was smart because it "happened" (same w/ Carls eye) but: Carol, Morgan, Daryl, Tara & Amazon Island NEVER Happened & it now is eating more screen time than stuff that actually makes the comic compelling & exciting.

"Game of Thrones" is practically impossible to condense & move characters around in only 10 episodes- YET, they somehow manage- WHY? Because even when they're laying the exposition down- they keep you multiple threads going so you're not wasting 20 minutes in silence watching Tara be a doofus or see Carol go crazy over cobbler. TWD fans are pampered & spoiled & they have their little "cliques"- TWD should constantly compete for my attention & NOT assume I'm gonna keep watching when it wants to do it's own "ego trips". There's a TON of stuff I could watch...I back-burnered TWD after Episode 4 S7. I basically check Twitter after 10 pm to see what happened or if the show was WORTH even watching. TWD lost me - It got a little 'full of itself' and it is what it is.

I love the show but this season is so far a huge disappointment for many reasons. The skipping around so much is very annoying. One week there is Carol, the next it is another then another. Too mixed up. Would be nice to stay with the main story and characters. If people left for whatever reasons then so be it but stay on point with the main ones. We don't like the , let's have this episode ONLY about so and so. Why can't you split it up and have it about a couple? Go back to the group. Go back to Carol for a bit. A whole episode on one really blows.

I think the biggest problem now for the Walking Dead is original content.
The story arcs are all the same every episode. Now and again there is a weird time switch between character groups and what they are up to, but there is no humor or any other dimension other than people looking tired and serious and they make atrocious decisions that make multitasking while watching an episode a necessity.

When the first seasons aired the show was awesome. Rick was a badass leader, Daryl was a loose cannon, the old guy was good for advice and everyone had their place. The zombies were threatening and suspense was a core driver.
The last few seasons have been action intro > drama > talk > talk > bad decision > small action > talk > cry > bad decision > drama > action > cliffhanger.

I can't understand why the format is always the same, the new Negan actor is horrible, safe and not intimidating at all with his fake bad guy persona. The long haired half burnt face actor is very good and I think he would have made a great replacement for the Nagan character. He is unpredictable but cautious. Excellent character. Rick got broken but not convincingly and why oh flippin' why, do they write the same story over and over about how they find a housing estate, hold it, cause drama, bad guy gang finds them, takes over, they have a war and then move on to another estate same things happens..... it happened in the farm house, the prison, the estate with the governor, this new seasons estate.... its all the same.

Hangin' in there but have not seen the latest 2 eps out of boredom for this show.

Oh... and if their ratings are going down and they had so much trouble finding funding originally.... why did they fund and make the Fear the Walking Dead? Was that the worst decision ever? We were getting sick of slow moving zombies, soap opera stories and they made FTWD ? I really can't understand why they would saturate a flooded theme with nothing ground breaking.

I hear Westworld is awesome...

I love the show, I am a big fan, but this has got to be, with the exception of the first episode, the most boring season yet. What were the writers thinking? The pacing of each episode has been abysmally slow. Sometimes it feels like they're just trying to create filler for lack of ideas.
I'm incredulous, that they actually think that this type of pacing is what attracted viewers to the show? You could've easily taken the last few episodes and edited them all together into one episode. Even if you would've done that the content was incredibly boring. Hardly any suspense.

It reminds me unfortunately of the show Fear The Walking Dead, which had ridiculously boring episodes as well, I'm wondering if the writers for each show are intermingling.

Sad, just sad.
