"Not wishing to believe it is God, he names it Being X" I find that you are incorrect and have perpetuated your misunderstanding of Tanya's relationship with Being X. Tanya does not lack 'belief' or 'faith' that Being X exists, Tanya REFUSES to bow down to Being X and acknowledge its power over her existence. She refuses to be bullied by 'God' into submission.

SHE REFUSES TO KNEEL.

Tanya is not an atheist (lack of belief in God) and instead is an anti-theist. (refuses to bow down and kneel before God) She may have started as an atheist but that is not where she is after the story trully begins.

This story is about Man's refusal to worship God because of the FREE WILL granted to Man at creation. It is a story about defiance in the face perverse odds stacked against Man. And if you didn't get that, then maybe you need to re-watch the show, before commenting further.

You simply are incorrect about her character not having any growth. It's subtle but it's there. You see in the beginning she is cold and calculating only and doesn't care about anything but cold hard logic.

but in episode 12 she explains in length how she has come to understand the irrational nature of man and how man will do things that defy logic out of emotion like hatred. In the context of the scene you might have thought she was just describing the enemy but in reality she was describing herself. Her resistance to being x is not logical and she realizes it but she hates him for what he has done to her and therefore repledges herself to defying him. just like the fallen republicans had pledged to resist the empire at all cost.

I would also point out that she shows signs of caring for her troops that are a sign of growth , even taking a bullet for one at a point., but that's not nearly as important as the other
