Toyman, the popular Superman villain, will make his debut on the Jan. 18 episode of Supergirl played by Henry Czerny.
The official episode description from CBS is as follows:
Kara does her best to support Winn when his father, the supervillain Toyman (Henry Czerny guest stars as Winslow Schott, Sr.), breaks out of prison and seeks out his son for unknown reasons. Also, Cat offers Lucy a job at CatCo and Alex asks Hank to use his powers to help uncover Maxwell Lord’s plans.
Ever since Winn (Jeremy Jordan) made his debut in the pilot, fans have speculated that the series would serve as an origin story for the villain. After all, Winn has a slightly eccentric personality and keeps toys at his desk.
However, it looks like Winn’s father, Winslow Schott Sr. will take on the mantle of the villain in a much darker capacity. Fans of the comics remember Toyman a little differently.
A statement from Warner Bros. television describes the character in his Supergirl incarnation.
“Winslow Schott, Sr. is a classic DC supervillain, a mad criminal genius known as Toyman – and Winn’s estranged father,” the statement said. “Toyman weaponizes toys to wreak destruction and revenge but is ultimately driven by one thing – the obsessive desire to reunite with his beloved son.”
However, even though this is the version of Toyman we will see on Jan. 18, does that mean Jordan’s character will never take on the role, himself? It would definitely be interesting to see his love for Kara (Melissa Benoist) turn into jealousy when she ends up in a likely inevitable relationship with James (Mehcad Brooks). Maybe Winn could take on the role in a truer adaptation of the classic character.

What do you think, Supergirl fans? Do you think Winn will ever take on the role of Toyman after his father?
