The Punisher, Marvel’s newest series on Netflix, will be without its biggest tie in with Claire Temple not making an appearance according to her actress in Rosario Dawson.
Temple, who’s known to comic fans as Night Nurse, has been a staple in Marvel’s Defender’s universe appearing in every show with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
Dawson revealed the news in an interview with Collider talking about her role in Unforgettable.
“At the end of the day, it’s really hard to get all of those casts together. For ‘The Defenders,’ it was difficult to get everybody together. People are busy! There are so many times where I really want it to happen. I really wanted to do a cameo on The Punisher, but it doesn’t always work that way.”
Dawson appeared on both seasons of Daredevil becoming Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) reluctant healer, she also helped him with an interrogation and became a trusted advisor . In Jessica Jones, she helped one of Luke Cage’s (Mike Colter) friends and developed an innovative surgical workaround to save Cage’s life. Her role on Luke Cage was key in helping to unravel a conspiracy in Harlem uncovering corruption and clearing Cage’s name in the process. In Iron Fist, Temple ended up studying under Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), who’s a soldier of the Hand.
Despite missing Temple back at Hell’s Kitchen, The Punisher will have another familiar face in Deborah Ann Woll reprising her role as Karen Page. She’ll join star Jon Bernthal, who plays the vigilante and title namesake as Frank Castle. Joining them are Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Ben Barnes, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze, Jaime Ray Newman, and Michael Nathanson.
The show, based on the Gerry Conway and John Ronita, Sr. comic, will be ran by Steve Lightfoot. It will be premiering later this year.
