I don’t think it was a surprise that Joker wasn’t on the team. I don’t think the trailers ever tried to suggest that. If anything, I could see why people might think he would be the main villain in this movie. That would be fair given his role in the trailers.

What would solve the glaring writing problems with the DC Universe movies is to hand the script writing chores to the animation writing team who turn out good movies consistently. Another obvious solution is to pick from lots of very high quality existing material with all the plot points and story structure perfected and then adapt it into a screenplay. As we have seen in the HBO and made for cable TV series, they spend a year or so mapping out the plot and tweaking the script to perfection before filming a single frame. Imagine the box office for a truly well-written dramatic superhero movie? It makes no sense to create bubblegum movies when the story material available is of such great quality. They probably own the rights already and even if they didn’t how much could it cost to pay for a proper story and script before making the movie? The problems Dewey points out could ALL be solved if more care and attention was lavished on the script itself.

Hmm. It just so happens that Jai Courtney IS Australian, so… not sure what your idea of an Aussie accent is, but I’m pretty sure he’s gonna have it down.
