Come this summer, filming begins on Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Writer of the book Ernie Cline took to the world mentioning that the film is taking on fan submissions for the best 3D avatar that could wind up on the big screen, according to io9.
For those who have read Ready Player One, an avatar is the digital representation of a human that exists in Earth’s future. So it would make sense in the virtual world of the Oasis.
Graphic experts can now show off their talents to the point where they can be appreciated and from now until June 23 is the opportunity to submit the 3D avatar entries. Of course, the staff from Ready Player One will be formulating their own avatars for actors Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, and others of the Oasis. Now fan creations for the Spielberg’s project may have their time to shine in the spotlight.
The plot of the film takes place in 2044 where Earth’s resources are dwindling and members of the community are quite poor. Wade Watts, a student and main character, is a master of puzzles and all things intricate. He partakes in a competitive game involving unlocking hidden gems in the Oasis which entail the virtual world’s creator’s obsession with 80s pop culture.
Ready Player One is to debut come March 30, 2018.
