Reaction: New ‘Deadpool 2’ Trailer Delivers, But What About the 800 lb Mouse in the Room?

Will Ryan Reynolds use Deadpool 2 to take shots at Disney?

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and 20th Century Fox just revealed the latest trailer for Deadpool 2,which is less of a tease and showing far more of the film. My biggest question is will the film address the Disney-Fox deal?

The latest trailer has Cable (Josh Brolin) in a voiceover introducing a bit into his background before Deadpool/Wade Wilson (Reynolds) interrupts for his signature 4th wall break complaining about the special effects not being completed and taking a subtle jab at DC alluding to the fiasco concerning Justice League star Henry Cavill and Superman’s digital removal of his mustache as a bit of a black eye to Warner Bros.

Given Disney’s deal with 20th Century Fox, one has to wonder how many Thanos references Deadpool will sneak in especially given Brolin’s other film with Marvel Studios in Avengers: Infinity War releasing earlier on May 4th could make for some surreal and awkward moments. There’s a good chance given the December date of the Disney-Fox deal since everything was presumably shot, it may not have made the final cut of the film. Then again, how much time does it really take to insert a joke or two about your new “owners” and Marvel Cinematic Universe possibilities? After all, the first film already had a reference to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in the post-credit scene, just not by name.

The trailer also features more smartass quips from Deadpool along with quick cuts from almost every auxiliary character from the first film highlighted. You even see Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) pointing a gun with Deadpool’s assistance.

Directed by David Leitch, the film stars Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Bloin, Brianna Hildebrand, T.J. Miller, Zazie Beetz, Uggams and Stefan Kapicic.

The film comes to theaters May 18.

Does the trailer change any expectations you had for the film?
