It’s amazing that even 5 years after I wrote the piece you quoted we’re still asking that question. I think you make some good points about the structure of the company, and the funding, as time has gone by I really have come to believe it’s a question of perception. If people see a grassroots style production, crowdfunded, a lot of facebook and twitter sharing as advertising, direct contact with the creator/publisher, they tend to label it as “indie.” As usual it all boils down to buy the comics you enjoy, and tell people about them!
