Great piece, I always enjoy reading about Groo! I love Groo myself and have been a life long ever since I found it in the mid eighties. I actually just wrote a piece about finding Groo the Wander Special #1 from Eclipse on my blog.(sorry for the shameless self promotion).

I love Groo. It is one of the best comics I’ve ever read and it always makes me happy when I hear there’s another new series coming soon.

Nice article. If you have a few more stragglers commenting than usual, Mark Evanier posted a link on his blog. I would add one comment to the article. The dog isn’t just smarter than Groo. He might be smarter than any other being in that world.

Groo was the first comic I loved. It was and still is a high quality set of stories in a rich world of fantastic characters and situations. The comic has aged well, and as the years have gone by Evanier and Aragonés have made Groo’s adventures poignant and deeper than any “realistic” comic could achieve. These men aren’t appreciated enough.

I’ve never really been into comic books with the one exception being Groo. A friend in high school dropped issues 1 -3 of Pacific on my desk to read and I was hooked on the spot. I have almost every issue. A running gag between Sergio and Mark is that almost every publisher they’ve had has gone under except for Marvel. “Give it time”, says Sergio.
