Will Shane West play Bane?

Gotham is looking to go out with a bang looking for Shane West (Nikita, Salem) to deliver for the Fox show’s fifth and final season.

West will be playing Eduardo Dorrance, an army friend of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), who leads a group of elite soldiers to help his former comrade in arms restore order, according to Deadline.

As a Batman prequel series, the series often went off the rails when it came to how bad things can get in Gotham City. From an underwhelming League of Shadows to a tongue-in-cheek and bait-and-switch twin brother story arc for the most iconic villain in franchise history, the final season is looking to start finally reward fans as we see Bruce Wayne (David Zazouz) take his final steps to be the Batman.

Naturally, like how all new elements introduced in Gotham, Dorrance’s intentions are not what they seem unbeknownst to Gordon. They are far more sinister. For the uninitiated for the Batman comics, Eduardo shares the last name with a known villain, Sir Edmund Dorrance, aka King Snake.

It’s possible Eduardo is related to Edmund in this universe or is Edmund himself, but the bigger implication is Edmund is the father of Bane, who is the man who broke the Bat in Knightfall. As creator and showrunner Bruno Heller is known to be loose with the Batman franchise, it could be Eduardo who becomes Bane in this incarnation.

The show stars McKenzie, Donal Logue, Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Carmen Bicondova, Cory Michael Smith, Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, and Chris Chalk.

What do you think? Is West going to be Bane or King Snake? Sound off in the comments.
