And since Atthu the end he is sent back to the beginning, this movie is a start of a new adventure. While Roland goes through the same cycle each time, the chain of events and core characters remain the same, but not everything happens the same way each time. There will be differences despite it being the events repeating. That’s a very smart idea to evade comparisons and bloodthirsty fans.

I’m very excited about this project. I feel like the detractors must be locked on getting a straight adaption. When I was reading the series years ago part of me wanted that too, but as I got to books 5-7 my feelings changed from “wow, this will be epically hard to adapt without a billion dollar budget” to “okay, this is going to be impossible to adapt faithfully due to the narrative choices made by Stephen King – the meta choices are weird boarding on the ridiculous”.

To me this “sequel” adaption style just makes a lot of sense and I’m so excited to see what’s being done with it.

I do worry about studio interference and those worries have not been lessened by the continued delays. We will have to wait and see.
