The original had a profound impact on me as I was a teenager when it came out. They used the new found popularity of the Internet as a medium to advertise. I remember seeing articles published under the disguise of true newspaper articles. Those who sought this out were able to get more background, and have more insight into the ending of the first film. IE- the guy making the children stand in the corner while he murdered the others.
